Mike Dunlap
(Rental)-Zone Attack: Strategies For Beating Zone Defense
$9.00
$17.99
Strategies for Beating Zone Defense
Mike Dunlap has been successful at various levels of basketball and part of his success is due to his unique approach to zone offense. In this video, Dunlap, now the head coach at Loyola-Marymount University, shares his vast knowledge of attacking zone defenses. Coach Dunlap won two NCAA Division II national championships and served as the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats head coach, yet still shows you how to keep your zone offense simple.
Philosophy of Zone Offense
To begin, Coach Dunlap shares five philosophical questions. He will make you think about your own philosophy as well as your own coaching/teaching style. No matter how you teach your players zone offense, Coach Dunlap has a solution.
Mastering the Zone Attack
To master the zone offense, Coach Dunlap shares 10 key points and uses very simple, easy to understand 5-on-0 situations. Coach Dunlap likes to make the defense chase the ball around the zone and he likes to use man-to-man principles in the zone offense. The use of screens, dribble penetration, spacing, ball movement, and even beating the zone down the floor are all covered.
In talking about attacking the zone with movement, Coach Dunlap demonstrates two different looks to catch a defense off guard. When the defense has denied your ball movement, Coach Dunlap shows you how to use a “look back” action and feed your post player repeatedly creating an opening in the short corner.
Coach Dunlap also offers a third solution to attacking 2-3 zones. You will see an NBA set that uses ball screens and misdirection to get an open 3-point attempt. By teaching players misdirection and ball movement and then coaching to your personnel, Coach Dunlap believes you have a strategy that can dominate any zone defense at any level.
If you struggle against zone defenses, Coach Dunlap’s video is for you. Rent this beating zone defense DVD today.

Jerry Petitgoue
(Rental)-Youth Feeder System: Shooting Drills
$8.00
$15.99
THE CHAMPIONSHIP FEEDER SYSTEM-SHOOTING DRILLS FOR YOUTH BASKETBALL PRACTICE
JERRY PETITGOUE
ABOUT THE COACH
He is the Cuba city HS. He is a coach with over 40 years of experience in basketball. He also has 19 conference championship titles to his name. Also, he is a three times Wisconsin state championship winner.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
If you are looking for a way to find all that you can about footwork and so much more, this video which has been developed by Coach Jerry would go a long way in ensuring that all young basketball players learn the fundamentals on the ways to ensure that the basketball is being shot the proper way.
The coach starts his presentation by identifying the four sections which cover shooting. One of the fundamental principles of this program is the fact that no one is born a natural shooter of the ball. The next stage is for the players to take part in drills which would test their shooting capabilities. These tests are not focused on the result. However, it is focused on the process of shooting itself. This would give every player a foundation which they can build on to become an incredible shooter. It also ensures that the players are aware of the problems which could result and how to effectively deal with them.
The program would introduce the student to drills that if repeated regularly has the potential of making the players very good shooters of the ball. For example, the shot builder drill would give the player the opportunity to learn how to keep his elbow in place while he is making a shoot. This drill is taken at different areas of the court.
The coach also encourages getting the players to do the sprint shot drill. Just like the name implies, this would see the players making a short sprint before taking a shoot. Also, the game-like test would also see most players take shots while holding the ball and not making many movements.
If you are looking to find drills which would teach you or your players how to attack the basket through the rim with the sole purpose of scoring those beautiful three-pointers while just making one dribble, then the peed dribble drill would assist you in making this possible. The coach makes the drills a continuous process by introducing new ones after the end of one. Therefore, you can expect to see drills such as the ball position drill and 3-man-2 ball shooting drill. This drill would allow for players to do all the elements of the game while sprinting. This would include passing, catching the ball and trying to shoot.
There is no doubt that Coach Petitgoue has done an amazing job with this video. This would definitely help coaches who are in feeder program. Therefore, you should endeavor to use this video to allow your players to develop their shooting abilities faster and more effectively.

Derek Pennington
(Rental)-Two Back Shotgun Run Game & Perimeter Passes
$10.00
$19.99
Features & Benefits
Six plays are required to keep a traditional running game alive in a spread offense.
Find a proven running strategy for an offensive line that is small and quick
How to capitalize on your run game's success to make big screen plays from the perimeter
Jet play is a quick way to increase versatility in your offense and get a playmaker on the edge.
Derek Pennington
Zeeland East High School Head Coach
Coach Derek Pennington's Zeeland East program has been transformed by his run first, spread formation philosophy. The Zeeland East program had just gone through 10 consecutive losing seasons when Pennington took over in 2008. He quickly established five consecutive winning seasons (2009-13), and two conference championships. The last three years have seen Coach Pennington's team average 40 points per game and go 32-1.
Rich Rodriguez and Rick Trickett are major influences on this two-back design.
Coach Pennington demonstrates six core running plays you can use in your spread offense using coaching diagrams and game action clips. To build on the success of his run, Pennington adds three perimeter screen plays in order to take advantage the defense when they begin to creep into the box to end the run.
Spreadshotgun Core Runs:
Coach Pennington teaches you how to control the spread and run the ball. Coach Pennington's six core running plays have produced a 1,000-yard rusher each of his six years at Zeeland. These are the runs you will see:
Stretch In this outside, base-run play, the back runs east/west, and reads the tackles block.
Q GTThe quarterback will run the stretch set. This is a counter-trey run. The backs display the stretch look, but the linemen pull and then the quarterback follows.
Power This is an "Old School I-back formation. When the defensive ends become too wide, Coach Pennington will run Power to stop the stretch play. For short yardage or goal line situations, he uses a double-tight end formation.
GT This scheme is identical to the Q GT but uses a cross-back action to misdirect the linebackers and create a gap for the running back. If you don't wish to run your quarterback, this is a great option.
Counter H back set for running against teams with strong defensive ends. Let the H back run the running through the hole.
Lead In this isolation play against aggressive defense, blockers match-up "body-on body" so that the back isnt waiting on a pulling person. This makes it a faster hitting play.
Perimeter Screen plays for the Spread:
The defense should defend the entire field. Coach Pennington will give you a great overview on perimeter runs and passes from his spread formation, or what he refers to as width plays.
Coach Pennington can cover a wide range of passing plays, from a 4-3 to an 5-2. To stop cheaters or players entering the box, Pennington allows his quarterback to audibly enter a pass play. He draws three perimeter screens to take advantage of these alignments:
The largest part of their package's width. A one-back set has the QB reading the box and throwing the Bubble when the weight becomes too heavy. This is the perfect set for the player who finds it difficult to deal with in space.
The Bubble Slant - A counter to the Bubble which creates a window behind defenders who are trying to get wide enough to stop the Bubble.
Gator A throwback screen that runs off a sprint action back towards the short side.
Coach Pennington also shares two run plays, the Jet and Spread Option. These plays are designed to get a slot receiver onto the perimeter and force defenses to play outside of the hash marks.
This presentation is great and offers many ideas for fine tuning your spread offense.
This was produced at the 2014 Louisville Nike Coach of the Year clinic.

Jeff Boals
(Rental)-Ultimate Basketball Set Play Portfolio
$9.50
$18.99
The best way to give your players the advantage is what coaches are constantly looking for. You can give your best players the ball by having a complete arsenal of plays that you can use to create specific situations for your offensive attack.
This instructional video is packed with set plays and offensive strategies that will make your offense more successful. Jeff Boals reveals his favorite portfolio of set plays for key, in-game situations. Coach Boals goes into detail about each play and the reasons they are so successful. Then, he gives a coaching lesson plan and then demonstrates game-tested plays that will help you offense score more points next year.
Variations possible with Flex Offense
Variations that are too loose.
Variations of box sets
All five offensive positions are covered by plays.
Baseline out-of-bounds plays (BLOBs)
Sideline out-of bounds plays
Half-Court Set
Coach Boals starts by discussing the importance to identify your best players and how you can best use their skills-set. This will help you design plays that match your players strengths, giving your team more chances to score. Coach Boals explains why his teams use set plays 75% of their time on offense. He also lists key statistics that his teams strive for each season. He details the important attributes that make any play successful, including ball reversals, paint touches and post touches, explaining how each facet increases an offense's points-per-possession metric.
Coach Boals offers multiple sets and counters to man-to-man defense by jumping into set plays. Each play has three to four counters, which makes it very difficult for an opponent to observe your offense throughout the season.
The advantage to using the same alignment on different plays is that your players will be able to retain the information. Boals explained that every play call includes the actions the players will perform. For example, the 'Twelve Series' starts in a Floppy Set configuration and offers scoring opportunities around block and perimeter areas, as well as a great lob option.
Coach Boals then takes a look at one of the many counters displayed in this video. It is 'Twelve Flat', which is the initial play setup followed by a flat screen step-up screen. Cue words are used in play calls to allow players to quickly remember the actions that they need to perform the play. Boals offers multiple pick-and roll plays with counters. Play 'Hip" gets your players to look at the rim for post-ups or wide open jump opportunities. Multiple counters are on display to help manipulate the help-side defense and take away the pick-and roll action.
The 'Nevada and 'Fist Wheel Series offer any shot you might need in any situation. Coach Boals also explains the versatility of the 'Fist' Wheel as an out-of-bounds option. There are nine variations of each series, with counters.
Plays for 3-Point shots and Zone Plays
The coaches are always on the lookout for new options and a set-play that gives them a great view at 3-point shots for their best shooters. Coach Boals offers an inside look at three sets that force defenses to make difficult decisions. He also gives coaches a chance to attack the rim from the inside and opens up 3-point shot possibilities.
The fun doesn't end there. Boals also shows five zone-busting play plays, culminating in a continuity offense using ball-screens. Although it is simple continuity, Boals explains that simplicity does not necessarily mean unproductivity.
Boals explains that these zone-busting alignments cause problems for 2-3 zones. He positions his offensive players at the weak points of the zone and allows them aggressively to try to make plays. The 1-3-1 zone also has two other zones. These are where the offensive players are positioned in weak spots of the 1-3-1, creating great two-on-one situations.
Out of Bounds Plays
Coach Boals also discusses out-of-bounds play on the baseline and sidelines to complete the video. This section has a play to suit any need, whether it's a quick three-pointer or late clock lob to rim.
Two out-of-bounds plays on the sideline that Coach Boals learned while attending NBA practice are sure to provide opportunities for your team when they need them most. Boals also shares one last, fantastic, half-court set play from a 'Horns alignment that he has used with his teams many times in recent seasons.
Every coach needs to set plays, and even the most talented offensive teams must refresh their playbooks every now and again. This video will give you the opportunity to boost your team's playbook for next season.
Coach Rating: 5 out of 5 stars. "Great set plays!" Coach Boals enjoys discussing the many aspects of the plays with the players. It is easy to follow, and the plays are fantastic.

Drills to strengthen your defense on the half-court and add depth to any defensive philosophy
Find a way to defend out of bounds that will stop your opponent scoring on BLOBs
Dan Muller is a defensive-minded coach. His teams are among the most efficient in the country in terms of defensive efficiency. His players learn defense by using stats to create a strong defensive culture. This video will show you how Muller teaches defense through stats.
Full Court 2-2-1
The 2-2-1 full court press is a great way of controlling the pace of a game. This defense is not high-risk, but it can be very useful and efficient. Coach Muller shows how he uses a 2-2-1 defense against his opponents. You can make your opponent play in your favor by putting pressure on the ball at the start.
Muller explains how each line must work together, and that they should not be too close or too far apart in order to be effective. You'll learn how to trap the ball handler using your top line defense. In 22 Side, Coach Muller shows players how to force the ball handler to the sideline.
Out of Bounds Defense
Muller shows you how to make your defense look like a zone to eliminate scoring opportunities below the basket. To make sure that ball-side cutters are not blocked, you can place your best players on the ball. Players quickly "fix" the ball and adopt a traditional man-man look to put pressure on the offense.
Half Court
Coach Muller concludes his defensive concepts with a description of drills and concepts that his team focuses upon in the half court. Warrior Closeout is where players practice their closeout technique. Players work on their push step and stop the driver from attacking basket. Athletes practice positioning after they have closed out to the ball in 3 Line Closeout.
Over the past few seasons, Coach Muller has coached one of the best defensive teams in America. His program has been very successful because of his dynamic teaching style and his research on the best defense methods. This video will give you great ideas for improving your defensive strategy.

NABC On the Court Open Practice with Kelvin Sampson: Transition Offense & Defense + Opponent Prep
Kelvin Sampson has grown the Houston basketball program into a national power once again. He has experience coaching at all levels of the game, including the NBA, and uses that knowledge in this unique video. You will get to see how Sampson prepares his team for an upcoming game.
Kelvin Sampson Warmup & Transition Drills
The two-time American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year (2018, 2019) gets his practice started with stationary ball-handling drills that prepare the hands and feet for practice. Next, it’s full-court layups and fast break jump shots. Moving quickly from one drill to the next keeps the intensity and energy up.
Transition defense is a focus early in practice. A three-man weave drill transitions into a 2-on-1 with a trailer. Next is a 5-on-5 drill that continues the focus on transition defense. Every trip up the floor starts with an offensive set against a half-court defense. Make or miss, the defense converts to offense and they work on transition.
The final segment in what you will see is the first half puts players through a drill called Game Shots. Wing players and front-court players work on threes and post moves.
Halftime
The practice is divided into two halves and the team actually goes into the locker room to simulate a real halftime. Sampson offers teaching points and what the expectations are as the team goes out for the second half of practice.
Second Half of Practice
The second half starts with a three-man weave drill in which players are required to record a set number of makes in one minute. This sets the intensity for the second half.
Next is 5-on-5 prep for their opponent. Sampson discusses defensive matchups for their next game. The team also works on running through different offensive sets and transitioning to defense.
This video is an outstanding way to see how a Division I program prepares for an opponent. There are plenty of valuable coaching nuggets and ideas in Coach Sampson’s presentation.

John Brannen
(Rental)-Transition Into the 4 Out 1 In Motion Offense
$9.50
$18.99
Transition Offense Into the 4-Out 1-In Motion Offense
University of Cincinnati head coach John Brannen has built all of his teams’ identities on playing fast on offense and having a constant attack mentality. Brannen led Northern Kentucky to the NCAA tournament in the school’s first year of eligibility. Now at Cincinnati, Brannen uses the same pace and space concepts that have produced a ton of wins.
In this transiition offense video, Coach Brannen shows you how to build an aggressive, fast-paced transition offense. It all starts on the defensive end.
Transition Offense Philosophy
At the core of what Brannen believes on offense is a simple three-word mantra: Sprint, Space, and Share. Teams have to embrace playing fast in transition and in the half-court offense. Anytime a player is in doubt, all he has to remember is sprint the floor, space properly, and share the basketball.
Brannen uses metrics for certain drills and in games to help improve transition decisions and success. He shows you how a few key stats can help improve shot selection. He also goes through which players have the “license” to shoot three-pointers in games.
The whole idea is to mold the transition offense so that players better understand their roles in it. Doing so will help everyone be more successful in transition.
Setting Up Transition Offense
On a missed shot, the ball can only be brought up the floor by what Brannen calls “bust out guys.” These are players with a certain assist-to-turnover ratio. Any player not designated a bust out guy must outlet the ball to someone who is to bring the ball up the floor in transition.
Brannen’s fast break isn’t numbered either like traditional breaks. Each spot must be filled though and players learn each of the spots to be filled. To teach transition, Coach Brannen uses the Coach Izzo Break Drill. This works on sprinting up the sideline and getting layups, post-ups, and three-point shots in transition.
Building the Offense
The foundation of the offense begins with half-court penetrate and pitch drills, which come from former Oklahoma City head coach Billy Donovan. The drills are designed to attack the paint and kick the ball out for open three-pointers.
With proper spacing and movement, the offense begins to heat up. From there Coach Brannen continues to build out a fast-paced motion offense that runs smoothly even after the transition attack has ended. Rent this transition offense DVD today.

Travis Steele

Open Practice: Transition Offense, Spread Attack & Skill Development
Xavier University has remained an elite Big East program under head coach Travis Steele who spent seven seasons as an assistant with the Musketeers helping to guide the program to eight NCAA tournament appearances and the 2017 Elite Eight. In this video, you will learn to play the up-tempo motion offense that Steele employs at Xavier.
In addition, you will see effective practice drills for handling pressure and for developing low post play. Coach Steele shares some of his favorite baseline inbound plays and a strategy for creating a number of options off a single play simply by rearranging player assignments.
Transition Offense
Coach Steele shows you two different strategies for attacking with fast break. “Carolina” is the transition offense used after made baskets. It is a more structured approach where players have specific responsibilities and play as fast and as spaced as possible.
After a miss, the “Phoenix” break is used to attack the floor with spacing. It puts pressure on the defense with rim runs, drives, and pick and rolls. The “Run the Circuit” drill is shown as well. It can help you run through all of the options in this transition system.
Spread Offense
In the half-court, Steele’s teams don’t simply slow down. You will see Coach Steele’s motion offense at work. It spaces the floor with four perimeter players to create driving lanes. There is plenty of ball and player movement as well as cuts, dribble hand-offs, and brush screens.
“Flip” action incorporates the low post into a ball screen at any spot on the floor. You’ll see how to communicate the different actions to players on the floor. Coach Steele also shows you how to add weak-side actions into your ball screens to occupy help defenders.
Coach Steele shows you different drills to work on the offense. 2-on-2 Ball Screen teaches players to beat their defender and draw help. The 4-on-4 drill challenges ball handlers to make correct decisions based on defensive rotations.
Skill Development
In the final phase of the video, Coach Steele shows five drills to develop how players handle pressure and play through the low post. Two Feet in the Paint works on the partnership between guards and posts. Baseline Finishes teaches posts to relocate and finish strong on dribble penetration. Around the Horn Passing works on passing and catching under pressure.
Coach Steele does a great job of showing you the fast break, an up-tempo offense, and how to develop players so they can handle pressure.

Ed Cooley: Secondary & Transition Offense
Ed Cooley’s Providence teams are consistently one of the top scoring teams in the Big East Conference thanks to an aggressive, attacking style of offense. Coach Cooley led the Friars to the 2014 Big East Tournament championship and has taken his team to the last five straight NCAA tournaments.
In this video, Coach Cooley breaks down how he transitions into a fast, physical, and connected offense from the instant his team gets a rebound. He will show you how to build an offense that attacks after made baskets as well in an effort to continually pressure opponents. You also get access to a couple key practice drills that can help you perfect your transition offense.
Transition Offense to Attack
Coach Cooley begins with some great detail about planning to attack all sorts of defenses. In order to attack and keep the pressure on an opponent, your offense must be prepared for any look that it may see. Coach will break down his Laser/Roadrunner organized fast break, the terminology used to give each player a role in the break, and what area of the floor each player should occupy. There will be multiple options for baseline drives or kickouts. Coach also shows you how to hit a runner in the middle of the floor and how to move the ball to get an open shot.
In order to attack off the break, Cooley emphasizes the following:
How to isolate and position your big man in transition
How to deal with defenses that switch
Multiple ways to flow seamlessly into the secondary break
The Secondary Break
One of the least-utilized facets of the basketball offense is the secondary break. Teams can continue to attack opponents with an aggressive secondary break game. Coach Cooley gets into using multiple ball screens with a number of options off of each set. This helps give coaches and players a wealth of information they can use to create mismatches, 2-on-1 advantages, and easy 3-point shots by your team’s best shooters.
Cooley also gets into how to reach players today, build their confidence, and get them to buy-in to your program. This 53-minute video is insightful and informative and can help you transition your team into one that is more efficient and effective. Rent this Transition Offense DVD today.

In this video, you will see how Coach Smith teaches players to read the game based on ball position, how to run and make decisions in the dribble drive offense and a number of out of bounds plays that can be run at any level.
Dribble Drive Offense
As the game grows, the dribble drive offense has become a staple for many because of its ability to allow very good players attack the rim. It is an offense that is extremely hard to prepare for and even harder to defend. Coach Smith details how he teaches the Dribble Drive offense and uses on-court demonstration to show you three formations and actions like screening and pitch backs that create scoring opportunities.
Coach Smith also shows you how to get post players involved with a flat screen option where a post player can roll or pop out for an open shot. Spacing is another concept that is reviewed as it is important in getting your offense layup after layup in the Dribble Drive.
Teaching Transition Offense
The best teams are complete and have the ability to excel in transition. Here, Smith explains and demonstrates how he teaches transition offense. The best way to do so is through the use of a competitive scrimmage. He starts with the fast break off of a free throw. The ball is pushed up the floor and then Coach Smith offers three basic sets that all of his players know. His players are taught to read the defense and use the appropriate set – Dribble, Dribble 2, or Dribble 3.
Out of Bounds Plays for Basketball
Coach Smith shares with you five different out of bounds that are designed to result in easy scoring opportunities. You will see options that utilize picking the picker to allow post players to get free for easy layups. Other screening actions look to free up guards for drives to the basket or for easy pull up jump shots.
If there is one thing Coach Smith has learned in 30 years of coaching, it is that players need to understand how to play the game. This 65-minute video is an excellent way to get that process started. Rent this Dribble Drive Offense DVD today.
