The best part about this program is the constant communication and teaching of the coach and his staff that will really help you. From every mistake to success, everything will be discussed.
Basketball Practice 2
When it comes to the practice 2, the coach Few will continue working on the defensive system. Most of the drills will be focusing on making the intensity of the on-ball pressure better. When it comes to the Z Drill and the Snake Pit the main focus of the defenders will be keeping the ball in front of them. Now there are several drills and every drill have its own function like the Pressure Trap Drill which will teach the players about playing aggressively. The emphasize will also be on teams coordination with one another in order to defend the ball screens with hard shows, soft shows, traps, switches, and X-outs.
For the individual skill work, the team will break down by position. For the post players, they will be working on the high/low entries and will be finishing in the post. Now for the guards, they will be going through the drills which will focus on driving, spacing and relocating. Well, the guards and the bigs will be getting shots in the Gonzagas half-court offense that they will be simulating. The practice session will come to an end with a 5-on-5 half-court scrimmage. This is not the end as the coach will go into the detail analysis in which he will teach the Bulldogs set versus man-to-man defense.
Basketball Practice 3

(Rental)-Allowing Your Players Freedom on the Court
$18.99
Man to Man Offense Basketball DVD - Allowing Your Players Freedom on the Court
The trend in modern basketball is to play a positionless style where all players are basically equally skilled and able to handle the basketball, pass, shoot, and post up and play inside. In order for the positionless offense to work, players must have the skills necessary and they must buy in to the approach.
Triton College head coach Steve Christiansen discusses player freedom in this man to man offense baskestball video and how to incorporate it into your own system regardless of the scheme. Coach Christiansen explains the benefits of giving players freedom which allows coaches to create buy-in and, ultimately, positionless players.
Basketball Practice Drills
The presentation begins with Coach Christiansen explaining his coaching philosophy and why he allows players freedom on the court. His discussion provides some insight and ideas that can hopefully generate some thought in regards to your own coaching philosophy.
Coach Christiansen then moves into his favorite practice drills. He starts with ball handling drills which helps develop the skills needed to play with freedom in a positionless offense. The drills progress to full-court action with an emphasis on freedom. You will watch two drills that work on decision making. The drills incorporate the ball handling skills practiced in the earlier drills.
The Drive-and-Dish drill works from a 2-on-1 situation where players learn to be aggressive and read a defense all while maintaining the idea of freedom. The Cut Throat Drill is another favorite as it promotes competition and can be customized to emphasize offense or defense. It is one of several that Christiansen reviews in this segment.
Man to Man Offense Basketball
The presentation concludes with Coach Christiansen outlining his man-to-man offense. Players are taught to make plays from a 4-out, 1-in setup. The offense is simple to learn and allows players the type of freedom that Christiansen talks about throughout the presentation. Coach Christiansen adds in a passing drill that teaches players the flow of the offense. The idea with Christiansen’s drills, especially those that work on the man-to-man offense, is to allow players to grow and develop as they work on their game.
Too often, coaches can stand in the way of players reaching their potential. Coach Christiansen shows you how to maximize player freedom in a simple offense that can help your program excel. Rent this man to man offense basketball DVD today.

Nick Pasqua
(Rental)-An Effective 1-3-1 Half Court Defense
$18.99
In this article, Coach Nick Pasqua delves into the intricacies of using the 1-3-1 half-court zone defense as a tool for changing the pace of a game and slowing down opposing offenses. He explains the positioning of players, their individual assignments, and movements within the defense, as well as key rules to follow. He also provides valuable insight into when to switch to other defenses, such as the 2-3 zone or man-to-man, depending on the situation.
Coach Pasqua begins by discussing the role of the top defender (#3) in the zone, who is positioned between the extended lane lines in the middle of the floor and is responsible for making the ball handler uncomfortable by stunting towards the ball. The forwards (#1 and #2) play flat across the middle, using the three-point line as a restraint, while the center (#5) stays between the ball handler and the basket. The bottom defender (#4) stays one step outside the lane line on the same side as the ball.
Coach Pasqua then delves into adjustments that offenses may make to the 1-3-1 defense, and provides ways to counter those adjustments, such as how to defend skip passes, passes to the middle of the floor, and ball screens. He also breaks down the installation of the defense, including drills to teach and perfect it.
One of the drills Coach Pasqua demonstrates is the 1-3-1 Defense 4-on-4 Drill, which emphasizes stunting at the ball, stunting at passes, and filling gaps. The key teaching points of this drill include close-outs on the ball with one hand and how to use "hit and get" technique during rebounding opportunities when a shot is taken.
In a 5-on-5 live-action sequence, Coach Pasqua teaches ball screen defense and stresses that when ball screens are used against a zone defense, man-to-man principles should be applied. He demonstrates several defensive slides and movements that can thwart these offensive attempts to open up scoring opportunities.
Throughout the article, Coach Pasqua provides valuable insight, drawing on his experience as the Head Coach at Converse University, as well as his tenure at Wesleyan University, where he compiled a 49-26 record over 4 seasons, led the Warriors to a 20-win season in 2020, and won the school's first ever Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship in 2020. He also shares his experience as Tusculum Head Coach from 2016 to 2017, where he set a school record for most three-pointers made and attempted in a season in 2017. He also played collegiately at King University.

For players, the Attack & Counter System offers exceptional versatility. The Attack & Counter System unifies players under a common skill set, empowering them to excel regardless of their position. Today's point guard may become tomorrow's post player, and vice versa.
Simplicity and Rapid Development
The Attack & Counter System embraces simplicity as a guiding principle. Based on the study of professional players, Coach Kelbick observed that the greatest players, regardless of size, simplified their approach to the game. Drawing inspiration from this concept, Coach Kelbick integrated it into his skill development program. By streamlining post moves, perimeter moves, triple threat moves, and 1-on-1 dribble moves, players can focus on perfecting their skills and accelerating their development. The simplified approach allows players to progress quickly by reducing the learning curve and refining their techniques.
Enhanced Coaching Efficiency
In addition to benefiting players, the Attack & Counter System streamlines coaching processes. Coaches no longer need to teach different moves to post players and guards. Instead, all players learn the same moves that are equally effective, if not more so. This simplifies the coaching process and enables coaches to run more efficient practices. By building on previously learned knowledge and skills, the system fosters faster learning and development among players. This progressive approach builds confidence and ensures consistent growth.
Emphasis on Footwork, Mentality, and All-Around Skill
While many programs overlook footwork and mentality, the Attack and Counter System places significant emphasis on these crucial aspects. Coach Kelbick believes that footwork and mentality are key to becoming a great player. Consequently, the system thoroughly covers various skill development areas, reinforcing footwork techniques and cultivating a winning mindset.

The system recognizes that players may transition between positions over time. For example, a guard today may become a post player in the future. By utilizing the same footwork and moves learned in the post, players can seamlessly adapt to different positions. This flexibility is a key advantage of the Attack & Counter System, as it simplifies the game for players and allows them to apply their skills across various roles on the court.
Thousands of individuals, including men, women, boys, and girls, have successfully utilized the Attack & Counter System at various age levels. Its widespread effectiveness and applicability have made it a trusted resource for basketball skill development.

There are five basic phases in the Attack and React Offense. Coach Grantz places all of the skill development into these five phases. He offers insight into each drill in an effort to help you and your players learn how to successfully run it. The five phases of the offense are:
Phase 1: Breakdown Drills. Develop the habits needed to run the offense effectively. These drills work on the 4-out actions but also reinforce the fundamentals covered earlier in the video.
Phase 2: Pass and cut. Players learn to read defenders and decide if they should use a backdoor cut.
Phase 3: Post Entry Drills. Features three versions of the Laker cut.
Phase 4: Baseline Drive (C Gap). Works on baseline penetration and a lob pass at the rim to the post player or drift to the opposite wing.
Phase 5: Backdoor. Teaches players to recognize opportunities to make backdoor cuts.
In 105 minutes, Coach Grantz does an excellent job of showing players how to play the game and be more effective as an offensive player. Players learn to read off of one another and they pass, cut, and look to create scoring opportunities. If you are looking to increase your team’s overall offensive efficiency, Coach Grantz’s video is a step in the right direction. Rent this Attack and React Offense Drills DVD today.

4-Out 1-In Attack and React Offense: Transition and Zone Offense
Attack and React Offense founder Andrew Grantz provides an inside look at how his unique style of offense can be used in a multitude of ways. In this video, Coach Grantz – now the head boys’ basketball coach at Fort Myers HS in Florida – uses on-court demonstration to show you how his offense can break a press, be used in transition, and serve as a highly effective half-court zone offense.
Coach Grantz spent several years as an assistant coach at Indiana University Southeast and as a head coach at Our Lady of Providence HS (IN) while creating the Attack & React. You will see in this video how his attack can serve as an entire offense simplifying your playbook all while making your players more efficient.
Transition Offense
The ease of the Attack and React offense allows players to create scoring opportunities at any time. When flowing from the offense into transition for example, players do not follow a set pattern. Instead, players fall into five positions – any player can fall into any position – in an effort to create a scoring chance. Coach Grantz will also show you how to flow right into the secondary break so you do not have to install more plays for your offense to remember.
Delay Game
One aspect of the game that many coaches often overlook is the delay game. Coach Grantz shows you how to implement a delay that uses the same principles as the Attack & React Offense. Grantz also shows you two simple rules for creating more offensive rebounding opportunities.
Attack and React Zone Offense
Teams that have adapted to the Attack and React Offense attempt to slow down the offense by playing zone. In this segment, Coach Grantz shows you how to attack both the 2-3 and 1-3-1 zone defenses with the Attack & React. You will see how to attack gaps in the defense and look for pitch outs and open jumpers. Coach Grantz also shows teams how to use the dribble, the ball screen, and the shuffle cut to attack these zone defenses.
When teams overplay on defense, Coach Grantz demonstrates the effectiveness of the backdoor cut. Proper backdoor cuts will earn the respect of opponents and prevent them from overplaying. You will see in this 61-minute video that Coach Grantz has an answer for anything a zone defense can throw at him. His Attack & React offense is full of the tools necessary to put up points against any defense. Rent this Attack and React Offense DVD today.

Attack & Pack Defense
Andrew Grantz wanted to combine the elements of the best defenses and combine their principles into an unstoppable force. He did it with the creation of the Attack and Pack Defense, which takes the best of full-court pressure and trapping defenses and combines it with the half-court mentality of the Pack Line defense.
Grantz is the head coach at Our Lady of Providence (IN) HS in Indiana and has developed a style of defense that forces opponents to the sidelines and baseline. In this video, Coach Grantz breaks down every half-court possibility as he teaches a defense that is very boxer-like – it punches when aggressive and looks for places to jab.
Basic Principles of the Attack & Pack Defense
Coach Grantz explains the foundation of the defense, which is to prevent opponents from getting shots in the lane and forcing contested mid-range jump shots. He begins with the basic defensive stance and teaches players how to take away touches in the paint. The emphasis is on proper technique in closeouts and forcing shooter to put the ball on the floor and got to the baseline.
Closeout Drills
The closeout is so important Coach Grantz spends time discussing stance, footwork, hands, and lateral quickness related to technique. He shows the Continuous Closeout drill and a full-court 1-on-1 drill. Players learn to pressure and contain an opponent anywhere on the floor.
Shell Defense
Everything builds up to the shell drill which helps to demonstrated help side rotations on a drive and how to close out on a skip pass. The Blackhawk Drill teaches players to jump from the pack to on-ball defense and then back again.
Attack & Pack vs Various Actions
Using a 5-on-5 half-court setting, Coach Grantz demonstrates every possible action that could be used to beat the defense. This will help the defense take away what the offense does best and prevent drives into the middle.
Pressing
You will also see how to use an aggressive press that can transition right into your half-court pack defense. You’ll see three versions of the full-court press that combine principles from a 1-2-1-1 and the run-and-jump. Coach Grantz also shows you a press designed to keep the ball away from a good point guard.
Coach Grantz’s defense is aggressive and combines the best of many defensive concepts into one that can make your team one opponents will dread.
