Spread Motion: 4 Out, 1 In Offense by Jamie Dixon Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Jamie Dixon (Rental)-Spread Motion: 4 Out, 1 In Offense $15.99
Jamie Dixon, 2009 Naismith Men's College Basketball Coaches of the Year, offers offensive insight Philosophy and instruction regarding the 4-out 1-in motion offense Discussion of the various options available within the offense Taken from several coaches, Coach Jamie Dixon's "4 out, 1 in" motion is difficult to defend and places great pressure on the defense. This motion prioritizes spacing, screen for driving opportunities, and post isolation. Two-guard fronts guarantee ball reversal which is essential for extending the defense's reach. The 3-on-3 formation is the best way to teach offense. The diagonal screen is created by the guard to guard pass. The diagonal screen's key features are keeping your feet wide on the ground and reading the defense. Based on the defense's position, seven reads can be used for the cutting. Flare screen is another weapon in perimeter motion. The screen is removed from the wing by the passer, leaving the area for his flare to be cut. There are many cuts, such as the basket cut, curl/screen, re-screen/fade and back cut. The back screen is a good option in a post-and-wing situation. Perimeter players can cut into the open area of the post and become back screeners when ball reverses. This allows for flexibility. It is easy to screen action that involves perimeter and posts. Dixon also addresses the options available after the ball has been passed to the post. 53 minutes. 2007.

Running a High Powered Basketball Offense: Spacing, Sets, & Inbound Plays by Kelvin Sampson Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Kelvin Sampson (Rental)-Running a High Powered Basketball Offense: Spacing, Sets, & Inbound Plays $18.99
Running a High-Powered Offense: Spacing, Sets & Inbound Plays Kelvin Sampson has turned the Houston Cougars into a national power largely because of the proficiency of his offenses. In this video, captured at a Houston practice, Sampson shows you how prioritizing spacing helps to increase ball movement and helps break down defenses. He also shares multiple baseline and sideline inbounds plays. Offensive Approach Coach Sampson introduces his base offense first before hitting the court. You’ll see how he spaces the floor with four perimeter players and then how he uses concepts like ghost screens and scrapes to create movement and open up defenses. Next is a series of plays right out of the Cougars playbook. Sampson draws up the Loop series and then demonstrates it on the court. It begins with a 1-4 high set and creates easy backdoors for layups. You also see an additional set from a 1-4 high alignment as well as two options out of Floppy action. Chicago creates an open jumper for a post player while Detroit creates a difficult ball screen situation to defend off of Floppy. Inbounds Plays Sampson gives you a number of great inbounds plays. The first set of plays are baseline inbound sets. They include: 21 – A box set screen-the-screener action to get an open jumper and a post-up. 51 – 3 seconds or less for a quick shot on the weak side with a player rolling to the hoop. Quick – Play that yields a cross screen post-up, a shot at the top of the key, and a pick and roll option to follow. 52 – Get a quick high-low to a post player off of a tight back screen. Thumb Down – Use an elevator screen for a 3-pointer. Thumb Down Counter – A rip screen counter. Slice Weak – A misdirection play for a quick pin down jumper run from a box set. The next set of plays is for sideline inbounds. They include: Slice Weak – It’s the same concept as the baseline Slice Weak run from a zipper screen. Quick – Same as the baseline play except now from the sideline. Loop 2 – A pick and roll play with an empty corner. Barber Pole – Great play to get action toward the rim with a back screen and a cleared out side. Coach Sampson is one of the best offensive minds in the college game. His video is packed full of ideas for how to expose defenses in the half-court and in special situations. Rent this basketball offense DVD today.
Skill Development & Shooting Drills by Jamie Dixon Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Jamie Dixon (Rental)-Skill Development & Shooting Drills $18.99
Open Practice: Skill Development & Shooting Drills The TCU basketball program has experienced immediate success under the leadership of head coach Jamie Dixon. A big reason for the improvement is the player development that has occurred during Dixon’s tenure. In this video, Dixon shares with you how he enhances the offensive ability of his players with a collection of individual skill development drills. This entire practice video trains players to make simple and effective decisions like making the right pass at the right time. Get an inside view of what player development looks like. Passing and Shooting Team Drills Dixon and the Horned Frogs go through six passing and shooting drills that can be used by an entire team. Three passing drills focus on making accurate passes, catching the basketball under control, pivoting to find open passing lanes, and finishing at the rim. The Warrior and Maverick shooting drills are great for getting your team to compete. When each shot counts, players focus more on every rep. Pre-Game Shooting is another drill that simulates scoring in transition. Players catch on the move and use various moves to gain an advantage and score at the rim or create space for a pull-up jumper. Guard Drills One of the key’s to TCU’s turnaround has been guard play. Dixon builds complete guards with a series of four competitive shooting drills that force players to make shots in game-like situations. You will see how to simulate transition jumpers, drive and kick situations, passing out of double teams and setting up the defender to attack off ball screens. Dixon also has guards work on beating pick and roll defense. Guards learn to read what a defense is doing and look for counters, gaps, and open shots. Post Drills Dixon has developed a post progression routine to ensure that his players have good hands and are versatile. Posts develop a go-to move, a counter move, another counter move, and perfect their footwork in the paint. Being versatile means being able to score away from the basket, so posts work on their shooting range. The Circle Shooting drill is the perfect way to develop touch around the rim while also extending one’s shooting range. The final post drills are those that develop decision making skills when coming off a pick and roll. Players work through a progression of moves out of ball screens like short rolls, slips, pops, and more. The idea is to develop a well-round, complete post player. In 50 minutes, Coach Dixon gives you a wealth of information you can use to enhance the ability of every player on your roster.
Skill Development For Post Players by Rob Senderoff Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Rob Senderoff (Rental)-Skill Development For Post Players $17.99
Skill Development for Post Players Improve the development of your post players with this progressive workout routine from Kent State head coach Rob Senderoff. With 25 years of coaching experience including the last eight as head coach of the Golden Flashes, Senderoff has focused his on post player development. He has devised a system featuring over 14 drills and variations that can build well-rounded post skills. The workout is a challenge and builds confidence in posts’ play around the basket. Post player development begins from the ground up and starts with the ability to handle the basketball to create space in the post. Coach Senderoff uses everyday equipment to take players through a series of drills to make their normal motions become automatic. When game time comes, post players are more fluid and more confident. In each drill, Senderoff helps players develop an aggressive mentality that includes finishing off of two feet and going strong to the rim. Coach Senderoff puts a great deal of stress on the hook shot, a fundamental shot in Senderoff’s repertoire. Players go through a warmup series of hook shots and then Coach Senderoff teaches a counter move as well. For Senderoff, post players don’t need a bunch of different moves. They need a few counters for the basic hook shot, which Coach Senderoff goes on to teach. The Chair Drill series is introduced and demonstrated as a means to give post players confidence in being successful at finishing around the rim against any opponent. You will see a go-to move along with a counter move both with and without using a dribble. These techniques will help make post players unstoppable around the rim against any defender. Coach Senderoff also introduces the Duke series. Post players gain another means of scoring as they learn to face up and attack the rim using a variety of jabs, bump fakes, rip throughs, and footwork. This adds another element to the post player. Building the complete post player takes athletes that are willing to work hard and train with an open mind. Coach Senderoff’s warmup and in-depth look at how to be successful playing the post can build stronger, more successful post players who can become unstoppable forces in the paint.

Coale has won 10 total Big 12 championships and took the Sooners to back-to-back Final Four appearances in 2009 and 2010. Part of what got her teams there is an emphasis on maximizing practice time by matching drills to specific offensive and defensive strategies. The drills you will see will: Improve focus and possessions Minimize turnovers Improve offensive spacing Automate all cuts and screens in a half-court setup Force players to make quick offensive and defensive decisions Teach players to shoot under pressure Passing  Coach Coale uses combination drills to work on fundamental passing as well as communication. Drills such as Hoosier Square, X Passing, and Inverted X work on skills like entering the ball into the post, finishing around the rim, and passing while under pressure. An essential element to lowering a team’s turnover ratio is simply being “sure” with the ball. It is something Coale drills in her players. Rebounding Processing information quickly is a theme Coach Coale continually stresses in her drills. Thunder Rebounding is one that works on communication and adds a level of confusion forcing players to think. The faster players can diagnose what is going on around them, the better they will be at making the correct decision. Transition Drills Coach Coale likes a fast pace and offers a series of offensive transition drills aimed at just that. Attacking off misses or makes, Coale uses Quick Strike Guards, Quick Strike Posts, and Inbound Integrity to get players to attack quickly and never let an opponent get settled defensively. The drills help ingrain in players the attacking mentality to a point where it becomes automatic. Shooting The final fundamental skill addressed is shooting. Coale likes players to work on game-like shots which is exactly what they do in the USA Shooting, Two-Ball Shooting, Back-Cut Shooting, Three-Lane Push, and Three-Man Rush drills. All of Coach Coale’s drills help to expand a player’s understanding of the game all while helping them breakthrough their own limitations. By the end of the series of drills, players are loose and ready for the remainder of the workout. Post Series Throughout the entire workout, Coach Marshall emphasizes the position of the center’s feet both on offense and defense. The Drop Set series is one that focuses on footwork and court positioning so that players can properly execute the drop step. Players learn to recognize double teams and then learn how to react in one part of the series. In another set, players use the drop step and work on jump hooks. Passing A good passing center makes teammates better and makes the center an even bigger offensive threat. Coach Marshall uses the heavy balls and goes through a series of fundamental passing drills to improve a post player’s passing skills. Marshall also incorporates an outlet passing drill off of a defensive rebound. 1-on-1 The workout culminates with the Finish Drill where centers work on both offense and defense starting at the elbow. The next drill has the centers playing live 1-on-1 continuously. Coach Marshall’s presentation is one that is highly technical. You can learn how to correct flaws in your post players. If you run the four-out one-in motion offense, this video is an absolute must. It can also be used by any team because of how it addresses some of the fundamentals of basketball.
