Description
Coach Weber starts by defining the difference between a "run-and-gun" mentality and a "run to score" mentality. Weber sees the offensive transfer game as an opportunity to relieve the pressure on your half-court offense to score points. Weber begins with simple drills one-on-one and builds to more game-like situations. Because other teams' offenses are still not fully developed, Weber places emphasis on defensive transition early in a season. There are four main areas of focus when teaching fast break: warm-ups, primary drills and early offense. He teaches the "transition game" without a numbers advantage. This flows directly into half-court offense. Three-man fast break, speed layups, 5-0 conditioning and speed lay-ups are some of the drills. Weber's favourite competitive drill is the 20-point game. This 3-on-3 drill is great for conditioning and full court play.
