Rent Basketball Coaching Videos via Mail

Wouldn't you like to become a better coaching in the next week? What if I told you you could double or triple your knowledge of the game in just a few short months? How much would you pay to double your coaching knowledge? Many coaches think they can just get by year to year on experience alone and looking up some new plays or drills on the Internet.

That is a recipe for stagnation. You see if you really want to become a great basketball coach you need to study the game and learn from the best coaches in the business. Now you can travel to coaching clinics, pay for hotel rooms, food, admission to the clinic, and then sit on those really comfortable bleachers for 8 hours. Oh, and you'll hopefully someone will cover exactly what you are looking for. Now that's just the beginning of your problems attending a coaching clinic - because each coach is limited in the amount of time they have on the court so they can only cover so much.

Critical Keys to Transition Offense by Paul Hewitt Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Paul Hewitt (Rental)-Critical Keys to Transition Offense $18.99
The difference between the best and the worst teams in today's game is the ability to adjust on the fly. It's interesting that in today's game, teams that dominate transition offense are often unable to adapt in the half-court against strong defenses. Paul Hewitt, a long-standing NBA G-League coach and successful college coach, demonstrates how you can create a dominant transition offense. Hewitt also explains how your players can increase their offensive confidence by teaching them how to make seamless adjustments to half-court defenses that limit your options for transition. You'll learn how to teach your players to execute the play-after the-play, which Coach Hewitt calls "the play-after the-play". This will allow you to take your offense to the next level. Your team will be efficient and high-scoring and can quickly score high-percentage shots. Transition Offense and Transition Spacing On-the-court demonstration: Coach Hewitt quickly demonstrates his extensive knowledge of transition offense. He emphasizes how winning transition's first three steps allows your players many scoring opportunities. He also demonstrates how good transition offenses put pressure on defenses right from the moment they take the ball off of the glass. Coach Hewitt walks you through a series drills to help you teach attacking skills. He also shows you how this leads into lessons about transition spacing on the half court. The 'Fastbreak Layups Drill teaches players how to push the ball forward and run as fast to score easy buckets. The '2-on-2 Passing Perfection Drill' teaches players how to pass and catch, as well as many repetitions of different finishes at the rim. This drill is a great twist on a well-known one that everyone uses to practice transition. Instead of one player dribbling across the floor, you have two players who are working to pass ahead. Each coach has their own preferences about how their teams should set up offensively when they are on the floor. In a valuable segment about transition spacing, Coach Hewitt describes the five spots he sets up for his teams as they move down the court on offense. The goal is to stretch the defense and create opportunities for layups. Coach Hewitt shows you how to create gaps in defense by placing players in each corner, just off the slot and using a rim-runner. Hewitt demonstrates great examples of transition spacing with his 5-on-5 players. Flow Action and The Play After The Play Next Coach Hewitt will give you an overview of what to do if your primary scoring options have been eliminated and your transition offense has been stopped. This is the idea of "the play after" - actions that can make your offense appear unstoppable. Hewitt will show you how to make your half-court offense seem uncoutable by following simple rules such as 'how paint touches are created,' changing sides of the floor and 'using step up screens,' and 'using pin down screens. Your post player will be taught how to create as many 2-on-1 screening opportunities as you need. This will allow for a multitude of mismatches as well as downhill driving opportunities. Hewitt concludes his lesson with his top techniques to teach the most common half-court action most NBA teams use today - The Flow Series. In demonstrating the Flow Series, Coach Hewitt shows how your players can learn to create driving opportunities and work to incorporate the aforementioned 'play-after-the-play' concepts into this attack. The coach starts with a 5-on-0 set-up and then moves through the most important Flow Series concepts. He also demonstrates how to use actions and reads to help your players understand the concepts. This builds up to a live 5-on-5 offense. This video is a must-see and provides a great learning opportunity from one the most accomplished coaches in basketball. Coach Hewitt provided a Master Class on how to build your transition offense. Hewitt also emphasized the importance of pushing your players to play smart and fast, and encouraging them to score easy baskets. Hewitt also teaches you how your players can create offensive opportunities whenever a play is stopped or breaks down. If you want to show your players how to play the game correctly and include NBA Actions in your half-court offense, this video is a great addition to your library!

Jans shares how he keeps track of things during practice so that his players do what the coaches want. Every practice is recorded on a yellow sheet that tracks defensive principles and gives players a rating on their performance. Defensive Rotations & Shell Drill Next Coach Jans will demonstrate different rotations within defense and the scramble scenarios that may occur. You will see how to handle middle drives into gaps, and what the rotations are with an empty post or an occupied post for baseline drives. It is shown how to use the Shell drill to get players moving and scrambling and working on all aspects of defense. Jans explains how to trap the post and how to rotate out of the traps. The traps can be seen coming from different areas of the court. You can even learn how to trap based upon personnel. Coach Jans explains the traps and shows how to include them in the Shell Drill. Q&A Coach Jans ends the video by inviting questions from the audience. He also demonstrates how to trap around the perimeter and when to use it during a game. Jans also shows a final drill that involves closing out, jumping up to the ball and contesting backdoor cut. Defending Ball Screens in Basketball by Jack Owens Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Jack Owens (Rental)-Defending Ball Screens in Basketball $18.99
Use to cover a range of screen situations and not give up the easy baskets! React to any ball screen that is set higher than or lower than the 3-point arc and neutralize it Your screen coverage for the ball should be adjusted based on the types of players. Learn how to use "jammer", "safety", and other players to limit your opponentÕs ability to pitch the ball ahead of you in transition Jack Owens discusses in this video the goals and objectives of transition defense. Owens explains ball screen coverages as he moves from transition defense to half-court defense. These half-court coverages can be used to disrupt your opponent's offense goals. Transition & Half Court Defense Transition defense is where Coach Owens starts. If your team does not have a strong transition defense, they could lose too many points. To do this, you must establish positional responsibilities. Owens has two main roles: safety and the jammer. Owens demonstrates how to practice these roles in practice. This will allow your team play a full defense of 94 feet, which will reduce the need for transition layups or rhythm threes. Coach Owens then builds into the half-court with complete denial up to the first pass. He then shows the team a sample drill and emphasizes the importance of communication. Ball Screen Defense Owens ends his discussion with a detailed discussion about ball screens on the half court. As the game evolves, ball screen defense is becoming more important. Coach Owens breaks down each screen and explains how to defend them. This video will provide all the details you need to succeed in full court and half-court defense. Your opponents will have fits if you don't follow the instructions for covering the ball screen. 58 minutes. 2022.
Critical Keys to Early Offense & Successful ATOs by Kelvin Sampson Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Kelvin Sampson (Rental)-Critical Keys to Early Offense & Successful ATOs $18.99
Immediately Increase your team's offensive efficiency by using successful strategies from one the most respected coaches in the game! To allow your best scorers the chance to attack the rim, learn how to use step up screens and include "Boom Action". Teach your players how to use a 4-out setup for proper spacing and relocation techniques, so they can drive and attack it. You can see ready-to-install, highly efficient quick-hitters that will help you pick the best player and post player from your hammer set. Your opponents will feel a lot more pressure if you score early in your offense. Simple actions can be taken to open up your best player, especially in transition. This creates separation which leads to high-percentage baskets. These are the priorities Kelvin Sampson, University of Houston's head men's coach, tries to instill in his offensive systems every time he goes down the court. Sampson discusses some of his most effective offensive strategies. He also offers several difficult-to-defend early actions the Cougars used to generate one the best offenses. This video includes an overview of how teams defend pick-and-rolls and creative ways to create spacing within half-court sets. Defending Pick-And-Rolls and Creating Space Offensively Sampson explains how pick-and-roll defenses are handled by most teams and how his time as a coach in the NBA has influenced the way he wants his college teams. The Cougars coach shows how to influence a ball handler's weak hand in a 5-on-5 court setting and where rotations and defensive help would be most effective. He offers guidance on defensive terminology, and explains how to keep defenses consistent with ball-screen coverages. This informative explanation about defending pick-and roll actions is a great transition to a fantastic session on spacing on offense. Sampson explains why spacing matters offensively and how to get players to grasp the concept. Sampson demonstrates how to space players in half-court. He also offers key coaching points to maximize drive-and-kick chances. He also explains how to teach relocating towards the post on drives. "Hammer & Boom", Early Actions, plus 4-Out, 1-In Quick Hitters Sampson shows his team's early actions, "Hammer Action," and "Boom Action," and he also demonstrates how to use curl cuts and double-screens to create wide-open layups. Sampson shows a secondary pindown action to get the ball to the post players. This puts heavy pressure on the defense and forces them to stop at the rim. Sampson shows you a 4-out, 1-in set play that creates space and uses positioning and movements to make sure your actions don't result in a quick bucket. One example shows viewers that interchanging guards on one side of the floor keeps the help-side defenses in motion and allows offenses access to the other side. In this informative, fast-paced clinic video, Sampson takes viewers on an offensive thrill drive. These on-court sessions demonstrate quick hitters and early actions that are difficult to defend, but easy to teach. These flexible offenses can be added to your half-court offense playbook, which allows you to catch defenses while they are asleep and gives you more easy buckets. 79 minutes. 2022.

Dan Majerle: Transition Offense & Set Plays by Dan Majerle Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Dan Majerle (Rental)-Dan Majerle: Transition Offense & Set Plays $18.99
Transition Offense and Set Plays Former Grand Canyon University head coach Dan Majerle drew on his experience in the NBA to develop an offensive system that can work at any level. In this video, you will see over 30 plays that Majerle used to score quickly in transition or in the half-court offense. You will learn how to space the floor properly in an effort to get quality scoring opportunities from all over the court. Transition on Misses Majerle demonstrates four plays to show you how to score in transition off of a missed shot. You’ll see multiple pick and rolls with incredible floor spacing using the “Drag” option. This can also be used in the “21/31” play where ball screens are used with your other guards. “22/32” uses off-ball screens to pressure on the rim with cutters. “Push” creates confusion for the defense with handoffs and screening actions plus the weak side hammer screen option. You will also see how to create a mismatch with a bigger guard versus defenses that try to switch on all their screens. Transition on Makes Majerle shows you 10 additional plays off of made baskets. Both “Oklahoma” and “Oklahoma Touch” use a double drag screen with secondary screening actions to free up a post that can shoot from outside. The Rub series has three plays that create scoring opportunities with a quick screen away for a trailing big man. Each play in the series delivers a nice variation to the main ball screen. “Cut” is a great way to get the ball inside using a screen-the-screener action. “Open” really confuses defenses with simultaneous cutting and dribble-handoff actions. The “Chin” series gives you clean layups off back screens. Half-Court Sets Coach Majerle shows you 18 different plays to run in the half-court offense via his “Floppy” and “Loop” series. There are 10 plays initiated from floppy action that create high-low post feeds, off-ball screens to open shooters, and much more. You will see how you can align against teams that like to front the post player. Loop creates guard movement from a 1-4 high set to get defenders chasing before they get slammed with a ball screen or other action. Loop can set up a lob pass to your guards, open up perimeter shots, and more. In this video, you will see a large portion of Coach Majerle’s playbook. It’s a playbook that helped him transition the Grand Canyon program into Division I and one that produces plenty of scoring actions. Rent this transition offense DVD today.
Doubling the Post, Protecting the Rim, & Pressure Defense by Craig Doty Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Craig Doty (Rental)-Doubling the Post, Protecting the Rim, & Pressure Defense $18.99
Doubling the Post, Protecting the Rim & Pressure Defense Emporia State head coach Craig Doty has established a culture of pressure defense everywhere he has coached and, as a result, has experienced great success. Doty won three national championships at the JUCO and NAIA levels in a span of five years. In this video, he shares the drills he uses to build his team defense and how he defends against opposing post threats. Basketball Defense Drills Coach Doty, the 2018 NAIA Division I Coach of the Year after winning a national title at Graceland University (IA), begins with an explanation of some of his program’s everyday drills. The 1-on-1 closeout works on contesting an opponent’s best shooter and making him or her put the ball on the floor. Advancing from 1-on-1 closeouts, Coach Doty gets into denial defense and forcing opponents to go into the deep corner. Doty’s defense forces teams away from the basket, one of the keys to the defense. Transition Defense Drills Transition defense begins with a 1-on-1 drill in the full-court. Players learn to use their hands and how to stop the ball in transition. The drill then moves to 1-on-2 so players understand how the quality of defense improves when players hustle back in transition. Finally, in 3-on-3 Transition, players learn to sit in gaps and force the ball out of the middle of the floor. Players focus on forcing bad shots, getting deflections, and forcing turnovers. Post to Post Drills Coach Doty teaches post defense starting with a 2-on-2 Post-to-Post drill. Players work on proper footwork and positioning, fronting the post, and moving from help side defense to a double team. The doubling the post drill progresses to an eventual 5-on-5 where all players learn to rotate and defend the post. The Verticality Drill teaches players to maintain their position and time their verticality in an effort to avoid fouls. Athletes learn when to jump and when to hold still and avoid a foul. Building Culture Coach Doty has experienced success at every stop during his career. He offers some insight as to how he builds the culture in his program. Teaching players about success in life and how to communicate are integral to Doty’s teams’ success as is allowing his assistant coaches to have a voice. This is an outstanding video for coaches looking to take a program to the next level. It is packed full of drills that will help improve your defense, especially in the post. Defensive Concepts Vs. Man & Zone Defenses by Tim Jankovich Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Tim Jankovich (Rental)-Defensive Concepts Vs. Man & Zone Defenses $18.99
Tim Jankovich: Defensive Concepts vs. Man and Zone Offenses There is no question that teams that play great defense win championships. Tim Jankovich, head coach at SMU and former Bill Self assistant, shares his defensive philosophy which includes eight components to form a sound system. Jankovich has plenty of experience having posted the most victories by a first-year head coach at Illinois State (25) and then winning American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2017 when he led SMU to the conference regular season and tournament championships. In this video, Coach Jankovich shares a ton of information you can use to develop an outstanding man-to-man defense. He will discuss 1-on-1 defense, defensive positioning, and how to defend things like off-ball cuts, drives, and screening actions. Winning in Transition The team that wins in transition normally wins the battle on the scoreboard. Coach Jankovich shares the mentality your team must take to become a sound transition defense. He discusses why he spends so much time in transition and he breaks down how to speed this conversion up. With offensive pace as high as it’s ever been, teams that are strong defensively can slow down opponents. Defensive Foundations Coach Jankovich begins here by breaking down individual and team on- and off-ball defense. It all starts with the basic footwork and positioning. From there, he gets into closing out speedy and shifty players. Then, Coach Jankovich takes it to the team level by demonstrating his version of the Shell Drill, something that can be done daily. Defensive Positioning Jankovich continues building upon his previous concepts and breaks down defending cuts and drives. You will see that he emphasizes a flat triangle, jumping to the ball, and being able to draw the line between you and your man. You will learn cues of basic help positioning, trapping and recovering on baseline drives, defending dribble penetration, and how to help off defenders. Because screens are a big part of most every offense today, Coach Jankovich spends time teaching coverages for some of the more difficult screening actions like wide pin downs, stagger screens, and the pick and pop action. If your defense is not where you want it to be or you are taking over a program and starting from scratch, Coach Jankovich demonstrates concepts and drills that serve a purpose in building the foundation of a successful defense at any level.
Defense Drills by Greg Lansing Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Greg Lansing (Rental)-Defense Drills $18.99
Open Practice: Defense Drills Defense is always a hot-button topic among coaches at all levels. In this open practice video, Indiana State head coach Greg Lansing takes you through a full practice full of drills that will make your defense better. Coach Lansing hits on three defensive fundamentals and much more that will help your players become better individual defenders thereby making your team defense stronger. Shell Drills Learn how to run the shell drill three different ways to teach concepts such as defending ball screens, doubling the post, and playing defense in transition. Defend Ball Screens: Coach Lansing shows you how to defend ball screens with his over action. The on-ball defender fights through the screen while the screener defender helps before recovering. Double the Post: After an entry pass, the post puts the ball on the floor. This is when the double team occurs. When the ball comes out of the post, a scramble situation is taught to close out on the ball. Full Court Shell: This is a three possession drill with full-court man defense. The defense must communicate in order to get matched up and into proper help position. Closeout Drills Coach Lansing shares four drills that teach a different form of closeout depending upon the situation. All players must be able to closeout to take away an opponent’s shot. The drills include the Diagonal Closeout which teaches technique in closing out to gaps in the defense and on a skip pass. The Three Line Closeout is a drill with constant motion and serves as a good warmup to begin a defensive session.  Toughness Drills to Teach Blockouts A culture of toughness is built through two drills that teach blockouts and the value of outworking your opponent. Morningside is a 2-on-2 drill that works on blocking out and finishing through contact. 5-on-5 Blockout is a structured drill that allows coaches to choose an exact spot for a blockout to occur. Transition Drills Coach Lansing takes his team through full-court drills to train defensive transition and recovery. You will see how the drill flows into a few back-and-forth possessions before it is stopped and Lansing corrects his athletes and offers a few adjustments. The 11-Man Drill and Full-Court Shell are used to improve transition defense. This video offers the basic fundamentals of defense and a number of drills that can develop both individual and team defense. Take your defense and rebounding to the next level with Coach Lansing’s high-intensity and highly informative open practice video.
Creative Play Calling by Steve Pikiell Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Steve Pikiell (Rental)-Creative Play Calling $18.99
Steve Pikiell: Creative Play Calling For the coach that is currently in or taking over a program that struggles, this video from Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell can help you become more competitive. Pikiell was the first player for legendary UConn head coach Jim Calhoun to become a Division I head coach when he took over at Stony Brook in 2005. Pikiell slowly rebuilt the program into an America East Conference power. He shows you how to get more with less and adds in some set plays and inbounds plays that you can use in your programs. The Importance of Vocabulary and Communication Successful teams are the ones that are able to communicate in a quick, efficient manner. Coach Pikiell shows you how to develop such a system to make sure you and your players are on the same page. One of the big reasons for a simple communication system is to package plays. Pikiell’s teams have been able to create lots of scoring opportunities by utilizing communication in the Wide series. In this series, Pikiell uses a variety of screens and other actions to get all of his players involved. Ultimately, Coach Pikiell takes advantage of his players’ best skills and uses them to the team’s advantage. Communication helps in doing so. Developing an Identity One of the big steps in rebuilding a program is the developing of an identity. Since there is no single identity that is “best,” Pikiell gives some ideas as to how one might go about developing an identity and coming up with at least one thing a team “can hang its hat on.” One of the ideas is the use of the 1-3-1 zone defense. Pikiell presents the 1-3-1 and using it as a half-court trap to take advantage of a team’s personnel. Another idea is the use of the 2-2-1 press and adjusting it to fit different levels of talent. Pikiell discusses the idea of “no middle, no layup, good defense” as something a team could hang its hat on. Getting Victories with Inbounds Plays Pikiell believes you can build confidence in a program and one of the ways to do so is through inbounds plays. In this segment, Coach Pikiell presents a number of inbounds plays from a box alignment and then goes into a few more from the double-stack alignment. He even shows you how to take advantage of a “screen magnet” and free up a player under the basket for an easy basket. With experience in rebuilding programs, Pikiell stresses the idea of building a system that suits your personnel. Keep things simple and design a system that can adapt and adjust depending upon personnel and situation.
