Dave Clarke
(Rental)-High Rep Skill Development Drills
$15.99
High Rep Skill Development Drills
Former Owens Community College head coach Dave Clarke shows you how to run skill development drills with 12 to 15 players at a time. With high school teams having fewer coaches, Clarke shows you how to get players the repetitions they need to enhance their skill level. The drills are easy to teach and help coaches use their time efficiently while preparing players for the season.
Dribbling Skill Development
Clarke does a great job of combining skills into a single drill. The Cone Drill, for example, is one where players make various offensive moves and finish at the hoop with a variety of game-like scoring moves. Clarke calls it the Cone Drill but actually uses chairs and players perform the fundamental cross-over, behind the back, and spin moves through them.
One of Clarke’s favorite moves is the floater. His players use it as well as reverse layups, a series of powerful jump stops, and mid-range jump shots to attack the basket.
Passing Skill Development
One of the lost arts in basketball is passing. When Clarke took over the program at Owens, he saw a need to get back to basic passing fundamentals. His teams improved their turnover percentage as a result.
In games, most passes are side-to-side, yet so many passing drills emphasize straight ahead passes. Clarke puts more emphasis on the former. He demonstrates drills that teach players to rip the ball, step up to a pass, and use the proper footwork when throwing a pass.
The passing drills include different ways to fake and how to use the dribble to improve passing angles. One drill you will see shows you how easy it is to teach and how the drill can change your team’s performance.
Shooting Skill Development
Successful teams are those that can shoot from anywhere on the court. In “Dave’s Shooting Drill,” Coach Clarke puts players at various angles. Players shoot from the elbow, the corner 3-pointer, and more as the drill covers all possible game shots. Players are constantly moving through the drill and working on other aspects of their game as they develop their shot.
Throughout his entire presentation, Clarke emphasizes the value of having the whole team working on the same concepts at the same time. The idea of developing the complete basketball player helps all athletes reach their potential and, ultimately, leads to team success. Rent this Basketball Skill Development DVD today.
Fran Fraschilla
(Rental)-Hard To Guard Two Man Actions
$15.99
Hard to Guard 2 Man Action Basketball
Teach your offense to score quickly and easily using these deadly two-man offensive strategies from ESPN International Basketball Analyst Fran Fraschilla. Coach Fraschilla, who spent time at Manhattan College, St. John’s, and the University of New Mexico, brings his wealth of experience to the court to break down offense into a two-man system that allows players to read a screen and take what the defense gives.
Fraschilla teaches a number of options off of down screens, pick and roll actions, and rip actions. You will find that this is an excellent presentation for improving a player’s offensive basketball IQ.
Down Screen Series
One of the easiest 2 man action basketball is the simple post down screen. Coach Fraschilla shows a variety of options you can use to score against any type of man-to-man defense. You will see how to curl for a jump shot or layup, how to slip to get a look for your post players, and how to fade for a baseline jumper or post pass for an easy basket.
Side Pick and Roll Series
If you struggle trying to score against good defenses, Coach Fraschilla provides an alternative scoring action that can scramble the entire defense, not just the defenders involved in the two-man action. You will be walked through the side pick and roll series and then Fraschilla demonstrates the pick and roll, pick and pop, pick and slip, and the pick and reject.
Rip Series
You’ll see a number of scoring options using the Rip series that allows players to catch the ball on the wing and then attack when the defense is late to closeout. You will see how to attack the basket using a rip and go, rip and slip, rip and drive baseline, and a rip and elbow jumper for the post player. There is also a demonstration of a re-screening action to get your best shooters open against really good defenders.
Learning to be unselfish in the two-man game is as important as looking to score for yourself. This is a great presentation for coaches looking to teach their players how to play off screens and create better scoring opportunities for everyone. Rent this 2 man action basketball DVD today.
Andy Toole
(Rental)-High Energy Drils For Building Competitive Practices
$15.99
High Energy Drills for Building Competitive Practices
Andy Toole has built the Robert Morris University program by preaching competition. His teams won the NEC regular season title in 2013 and ’14 and continue to challenge for conference honors. The big reason for the turnaround is Toole’s commitment to making practices competitive.
In this video, you will see Coach Toole go on the court to demonstrate 11 creative, intense, and highly competitive drills that lead to more productive practices.
Some of the drills you will see include the following:
4-on-3 Passing Drill: Offensive players learn to use ball fakes and learn how to look off the defense when making passes. Defenders learn to use active hands and force the offense to make mistakes.
Harcum 2-on-1 Drill: This is a unique half-court transition drill that teaches quick outlet passes, sprinting in transition, and the idea that a player’s job is never done. This is the perfect drill for lower level teams where coaches have large numbers of players.
Roanoke 1-on-1 Defensive Drill: This is an all-purpose drill that emphasizes many of the basic defensive fundamentals. Players must closeout, guard cutters, front post players, help and recover, control dribblers, and finish with rebounds.
4-on-2 Rebounding Drill: Players are forced into a disadvantage situation making them uncomfortable, but they must come up with the initial rebound in a possession.
Coach Toole puts it all together in a unique twist on the traditional shell drill. You’ll see situations where the defense is beaten and must help. Toole believes the help is an important part of the shell drill.
Coach Toole’s drills will help your team compete harder and transition from possession to possession much faster. Players and coaches will both enjoy the creativity and intensity of Coach Toole’s drills which simulate game-like conditions.

Bob Huggins
(Rental)-Full Court 1--3--1 Trapping
$15.99
Huggins' defense was born out of necessity in the early stages of his career. It is a regular part of Huggins' program. This defense is introduced by player-by-player assignments. The goal is to split the court in half, from basket to basket. The defense will keep the ball on the same side as the offensive player once it is on the other side. Ball pressure is a key factor in keeping the offensive player away from throwing skip passes or reversing the ball. A 5-on-5 zone drill with slides is shown. Huggins moves the zone press up to the floor making it a full-court attack. It is crucial to keep the ball inbounds once it is in the court. The ball is not in the hands of players who are away from it. They must be on the line and up to the line so that the ball does not cross the area. There are two ways to play this full court trap: a regular or a speed them up approach. The goal is protected, anticipated, or trapped by the players. Each of these duties can be broken down into multiple teaching points.

Chris Holtman
(Rental)-Drills to Build Your Man to Man Defense
$18.99
Chris Holtmann has built a career around playing outstanding man-to-man defense. The Ohio State head coach breaks down some of his best defensive drills in this on-court video. You will see some of the drills that Holtmann uses to prepare his players to compete at the highest level of college basketball. The presentation starts with what Holtmann calls his “Defensive MUSTs”.
Defensive MUSTS
Coach Holtmann has his own MUSTS and encourages coaches to come up with their own. His are:
Set the defense: stress the importance of getting back and not allowing easy transition offense
Protect the paint: obviously, don’t allow easy attempts in the paint
Make them earn it: defense must work continuously to ensure success
Challenge everything: opponents’ shot percentages will go down if your team commits to this
All five commit to rebounding: limit your opponent to one shot
Closeout Drills
The closeout has to be mastered in order for the defense to be successful. Coach Holtmann presents three drills that work on different aspects of the closeout. You’ll see the Majerus Closeout Drill and the Zig Zag Drill. He then gets into scouting opponents and how to prepare for closing out certain players.
Help-Side & Post Defense Drills
One of the most important aspects of great defense is working on the help side. You will see a drill that teaches player how to defend the post from the ball side. Another drill works on jumping to the ball, defending cutters, closing out, and rebounding all in a 3-on-3 setting. Again, he incorporates a scouting report and how to defend based upon it.
Ball Screen Defense
With today’s offenses built around the ball screen, it’s imperative that defenses know how to defend. Holtmann shares a continuous ball screen coverage drill where players work on any type of ball screen in a 4-on-4 setting. He also gets into what players can do when an opponent rejects a screen or tries to split a screen.
Great man-to-man defense is one way to ensure your team is competitive in every game. Coach Holtmann gives you the drills you need to excel on defense at any level.
Bruce Weber
(Rental)-Formulating a Winning Team Defense
$18.99
Formulating a Winning Team Defense
Bruce Weber is one of the top coaches in the country and is well known for his teams’ defensive efficiency. His Kansas State University Wildcats were the 2013 and 2019 Big 12 champs thanks, in large part, to suffocating defenses. In this video, Coach Weber gives you a taste of why he has been so successful on defense. You’ll see a number of drills that have helped him get there.
Team Defense Drills
While offering up his favorite team defense drills, Coach Weber emphasizes three things – the importance of technique, habits, and toughness. All drills focus on these three things. Closeout drills are first as Weber works on the technique of a good closeout. The 3-on-4 Scramble Drill instills toughness and intensity as the defense plays down a man and must finish with a box out and rebound. The Superman Drill helps you determine your toughest defender as one player attempts to get three consecutive stops against three different opponents.
Weber adds in working against the ball screen. The Mascot Drill is used to work on different ball screen coverages. Then, it’s on to transition defense where Weber shows his Rush Drill where the team goes three trips up and down the floor.
Shell Drills
The Shell Drill is a staple of defensive practices just about everywhere. Weber uses the traditional 4-on-4 Shell and then shows some variations that make the drill even more competitive. Gut Check incorporates the losing team running a sprint and then having to transition back to defense to get a set number of stops.
The final drill on the video is the Play Hard Drill. It’s a single-person drill where the player works on denial, jumping to the ball, taking a charge, and diving for a loose ball. This will get your team going for sure.
Defenses help win championships and these drills from Coach Weber will bring high intensity, energy, and toughness into your practices that will translate come game time.
Anthony Carlyle
(Rental)-Effective Zone Offense Set Plays
$18.99
Effective Zone Offense Set Plays
Zone defenses are being employed more and more at every level of basketball these days. Five-time state champion head coach Anthony Carlyle has built a tradition at Yazoo City HS (MS) using zone sets the provide multiple scoring options against any type of zone defense. He shares many of those simple but effective plays with you in this video.
Philosophy of Zone Offense
With a belief in working on your weaknesses, Coach Carlyle has crafted a zone offense designed to score against any zone defense. At one point in his career, his teams struggled with zone defenses. He decided to put his players to work and learn how to apply man-to-man principles while running their zone sets. The result was a philosophy that he still believes in today.
Set Plays
For Coach Carlyle, set plays against a zone start with false action or some sort of misdirection to help create a scoring opportunity either on the perimeter or in the paint. He explains some his set plays in detail:
“L” is a play where the offense sets the defense up for a lob pass to the team’s most athletic player. The lob creates misdirection and allows a skip pass to your best 3-point shooter.
“Wing Double” creates a scoring opportunity for your best shooter by setting up the defense as you look for gaps to dribble penetrate.
“Screen” is a play where your wing looks to screen the middle of the zone to free up your best post player for a layup or a post-up. An added bonus is the skip pass out of the post to your best shooter or scorer.
In the 14 Series, players begin in a 1-4 set and work to create scoring options for your best shooter. One option uses a ball screen to create a 2-on-1 for your best penetrator.
Coach Carlyle offers up some of the best ways to score against a zone defense in this video. You will see all sorts of demonstrations for how to beat the zone using screens, skip passes, and more. Dwane Casey
(Rental)-Fist 2-3 Zone Defense
$18.99
“Fist” 2-3 Zone Defense
Learn the 2-3 matchup zone defense from veteran NBA coach Dwane Casey, whose name is synonymous with the term defensive guru. As an assistant in Dallas, it was Casey that installed the 2-3 matchup zone that led the Mavericks to an NBA title. As a head coach in Toronto, the Raptors were consistently one of the NBA’s best defenses and Casey continues his legacy now in Detroit.
In this video, Casey breaks down the intricacies of his matchup zone showing you practice drills that simulate the most common offenses run against it. Watch as Coach Casey teaches the Humber College men’s basketball team to play his defense without ever having run a 2-3 zone in the past.
Installing the 2-3 Zone
Coach Casey has some basic fundamental principles of the 2-3 zone. First, he shows you how the court is divided up into different quadrants to teach players basic positioning and responsibilities. You will see how Casey teaches defending the ball and how players nearest the ball are to help. All of the strategies taught by Casey adjust depending upon the location of the ball and the defender that is applying pressure.
Communicating in the Zone Defense
Opponents often try to overload one side of the zone defense to gain an advantage. Coach Casey teaches players how to initiate “bumps” in player coverage. To do so, players must know the correct terminology and use it when communicating with teammates. Casey demonstrates a drill you can use to reinforce communication and the different strategies he teaches.
Coach Casey adds a flasher into the high post to challenge the defense’s matchup responsibilities. Players have to learn how to extend outside of their coverage areas based on the situation. Communication plays a vital role in doing so. Coach Casey also shows you how to play the matchup zone on baseline and sideline out of bounds plays.
One of the masters of defense at the highest level, Coach Casey goes into great detail in this 56-minute video to explain the secrets of the 2-3 matchup zone. Own it today!Read our 2-3 Zone Defense Guide here.

Lon Kruger
(Rental)-Flexible Offensive Attack
$15.99
Coach Kruger starts with his key keys to setting up an offense that is strong. These keys include setting up an offensive board and getting back, getting easy baskets, getting open from the wings, running and catching with no turnovers, and switching sides to attack defense. Kruger shows several strategies in the half court that will help his team score high. Every component of the half court offense needs to be broken down and drilled. To dictate his position, the posts must be taught how to make contact in the paint. He also discusses the post feeds, the shuffle cut and ball reversal. This list is combined into plays that can be numbered to identify the players on the court. The on ball screen is used in the early offense. It can be used against zone presses or man-to-man. This flexible offense allows for good spacing and provides opportunities for penetration as well as mismatches.

Matt Driscoll
(Rental)-Drills For Developing Hybrid Players
$17.99
Drills for Developing Hybrid Basketball Players
In today’s more multi-faceted game, players that have the ability to play multiple positions are extremely valuable. University of North Florida head coach Matthew Driscoll understands the need for such hybrid players and has developed a system for training them. Driscoll served as an assistant with Scott Drew at Baylor helping to rebuild the Bears program before taking over at North Florida where Drew led the Ospreys to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance (2014-15).
In this unique skill development video, Coach Driscoll shows you how to take tall players and develop them into hybrids. They have the ability to score from inside, but also can step out and attack the basket with ball handling skills as well as show off their shooting range.
Ball Handling Drills
Coach Driscoll teach post players to handle the ball with a series of ball handling drills normally reserved for point guards. Using four different drills, Driscoll works on players’ abilities to shake defenders and drive the lane. In a second set of drills, players combine ball handling with finishes at the rim. Each moves stresses change of direction and getting defenders on their heels. Players work on pro hops, step-back jumpers, floaters, and the Stockton move.
Training in the Post
Hybrid basketball players can exploit mismatches in the post when playing with their back to the basket. Coach Driscoll uses three drills to teach players to finish at the rim while playing with the back to the basket.
The QB Tee Back to the Basket series teaches players eight different ways to score through the post. Driscoll teaches a “cheat step” that helps players get angles on defenders and puts them in positions to score.
Shooting Drills
Coach Driscoll shares a number of shooting drills designed to sharpen players’ shooting technique. The Great 8 Finishing drill teaches players how to finish with control at the rim using either hand with six finishes. Driscoll also works players through eight different scoring situations they would commonly see in their ball screen offense in game situations. This helps players take shots that they’ll take in games.
Creating Offense
Two final skill development drills help develop players into playmakers. The first breaks down options for penetrating the lane. Players have the ability to execute the “LeBron” pass to an open perimeter shooter as the defense sinks to help in the lane. The Ball Screen Acuity drill reverses traditional roles. The big handles the ball while perimeter players become the screeners in a pick and roll action.
With the changing game, athletes need to adapt as well. Coach Driscoll’s video will show you how he builds players that can play any position in today’s “position-less” game. Rent this Hybrid Basketball Players DVD today.
Melanie Balcomb
(Rental)-Essential Components For A Successful Offense: Cutting, Spacing And Fakes
$17.99
Successful Basketball Offenses: Cutting, Spacing & Fakes
Melanie Balcomb is the winningest coach in Vanderbilt women's basketball history thanks, in large part, to her philosophy on the offensive end of the floor. She has over 400 wins, has won three SEC titles, and took Vanderbilt to 12 straight NCAA tournament berths between 2003 and 2014 with an offense that goes much deeper than the set play.
In this on-court presentation, Coach Balcomb dives deep into the offense that helped her win an average of 23-plus games per season. Instead of teaching players set plays, Coach Balcomb teaches concepts. Players work conceptually rather than through a series of set plays or quick hitters. Coach Balcomb believes players are more effective when they are taught to read and react to a defense to find multiple scoring opportunities.
One of the things you will see in Coach Balcomb's presentation is a discussion of the top four things an offense can do to control any defense.
* Proper spacing
* Timing
* Read defenses
* Move without the basketball
Successful Basketball Offense Key Points
Next, Coach Balcomb moves into areas of offense that are often not stressed enough but can affect outcomes. Off the ball actions are important. Players must understand how to move without the ball. Balcomb also gets into fakes - shot fakes and ball fakes to slow down a defense and make a read. Cutting is another skill that is important in countering defenses.
Through the use of Vandy's main set play, Coach Balcomb shows you five scoring options that include all the elements of the offense. You will see the 5-on-0 Putting It All Together drill in which players must do all of the little things that make an offense effective.
In the successful basketball offenses video, Coach Balcomb shares the finer points of offense introducing concepts that every offense must master to become effective. She teaches players how to play and coaches how to coach their players through movements and actions, not just set plays. You will develop players that play more freely reading and attacking defenses at their weak points. Rent this successful basketball offenses DVD today.
