The Horns Offense
Coach Fraschilla teaches you the basics of the Horns offense including the spacing and the roles of each individual player on the floor. You will learn how you can put together a series of two- and three-player actions in structured motion based on four main types of cuts. With each cut, you will see the options your players can use by reading the defense as well as the techniques necessary to score. The actions you will see include wide pin down screens, dribble hand offs, ball screens, flex cuts, dribble penetration, and others.
Ball Screens in the Horns Offense
The ball screen is very important in the Horns offense and Fraschilla teaches you how to improve the effectiveness of them. Over the course of his career, Fraschilla has studied the best teams throughout the world and has incorporated what he has learned into his teaching. You will see how to use false motion to scramble a defense. You will learn how to optimize spacing and separate your post from his defender when sprinting into a ball screen.
Get an inside look at some new tactics to execute ball screens, including flip screens for defenders that go under, the short roll against over-aggressive defenses, back action for sagging defenders, and the invisible screen to open up dribble penetration.
Set Plays for the Horns Offense
Coach Fraschilla shares a number of set plays with you. He shows you a series of plays taken from some of the world’s best international teams. You will see how to score using staggered screens, pin downs, flex screens, and post ups. The Horns set used by the Argentinian national team is broken down in detail and you will see how multiple options can be created to score a number of different ways.
Fraschilla also shares a number of ways to isolate your best players and how to get them scoring opportunities in late-game situations. You will see how the 2015 Golden State Warriors used the Horns offense with a secondary break that used wide pin downs and stagger screens to free up their shooters.

(Rental)-Boeheim's Updated Guide to Running the 2-3 Zone Defense
$18.99
Jim Boeheim’s (Updated) Guide to Running the Stifling 2-3 Zone Defense
Jim Boeheim, Syracuse University basketball, and the 2-3 Zone have been synonymous for years. In this video, Coach Boeheim unmasks the secrets to his 2-3 zone that has stifled opponents for years. Boeheim has won one national championship (2003) and has taken his Syracuse teams to five Final Fours. He was the 2010 Naismith Coach of the Year and his defenses have been one of the biggest reasons for his success.
In this video, Coach Boeheim shares his philosophy on playing zone defense and why he chose to run the zone exclusively. Boeheim lays out everything you need to know to cover every spot on the floor. Included as well are ideas on using zone defense in out-of-bounds situations, how best to rebound when playing zone, and how Boeheim uses the zone to beat even the trickiest of offensive strategies.
Slides, Bumping, and Other Tactics
Coach Boeheim starts by explaining the responsibilities for each defender and how the defense works when the ball is moved from the top, wing, corner, and high post. You will see how defensive slides allow the defense to cover every scoring option. Boeheim also shows you how to trap on the baseline and rotate against the skip pass, something offenses use to try and catch zone defenses out of position. Boeheim also shares how to extend the zone and take away 3-point attempts, something that is paramount in playing zone defenses today.
Boeheim continues with some more challenging aspects of the zone defense including stopping dribble penetration without losing track of shooters. The dribble drive is one tactic teams use to beat Boeheim’s zone. You will see how to counter it. Coach also shows you how to beat inside and outside screens, another strategy used to prevent guards from covering the perimeter. Defending overload situations is discussed as well as using double teams to discourage teams from even attempting to overload.
Practicing the Zone
After breaking down the entire zone defense, Boeheim offers you ideas for multiple drills that can be used to teach and install the zone defense. He goes through his process of how a practice is constructed to teach the zone effectively. In addition, you will learn two strategies for playing zone defense against an in-bound play.
The final segment deals with how to optimize rebounding when playing zone so that opponents cannot get multiple shots. The 81-minute video from one of college basketball’s true all-time greats is the video to own if you are looking to play zone defense..

Archie Miller: Transition Offense Basketball Drills
Develop a system of attacking opponents on every possession with help from Indiana University head coach Archie Miller. The former head coach at Dayton who took the Flyers to an Elite Eight, Miller is known for getting his teams to play an up-tempo style of basketball that puts pressure on opponents.
In this video, you will see two different transition offenses that can be used after made shots or misses. Miller gives you some quick hitters that will work well in any offense. There is an effective system for breaking presses as well as drills for creating an up-tempo style of play. There is even a question and answer segment where Miller gets more specific with some of his offensive strategies.
Carolina Transition Offense Basketball Drills – Makes
When an opponent scores, Coach Miller’s team goes right into its Carolina transition. The transition offense works to create scoring opportunities for each position on the floor and then flow directly into the motion offense. Miller uses the 5-on-0 Run Through Drill where players learn to feed the ball into the post on rim runs or advance the ball with passes “up the street” or “across the street.”
Phoenix Transition Offense Basketball Drills – Misses
On missed shots, Coach Miller’s team pushes the ball up the floor using the Phoenix transition offense. Immediately off of a rebound, the Phoenix fast break starts. It is a flexible system that can take on a variety of configurations and fits well with any combination of personnel on the floor. Coach Miller shows you the Phoenix Build Up Drill to teach you how easily it is to use motion-like principles to get into a number of drag ball screen situations.
Transition Triggers
The transition offense is not complete without a way to attack the press. Here, Coach Miller demonstrates three triggers that a point guard initiates: the flip, spin, and through. You also see how the Carolina transition offense can be modified to break the press. Miller explains player spacing and rotations as part of an effective press break.
Transition Drills
Coach Miller shares four practice drills that help you install the transition offense and help your players understand the nuances of each.
Read and React Drill: forces players to think on the fly and run a set play using the Carolina break
Phoenix/Carolina Combination: develops both fast break styles in the same full court trip with a 5-on-0 run through
Circle Transition: 5-on-5 scrimmage drill with emphasis on competition
Free Throw Transition: another 5-on-5 scrimmage drill off a free throw
Q & A
Coach Miller delves deeper into ball screens and different methods he uses to counter defensive tactics against ball screens. He also talks floor balance and modifications for the Phoenix break based on personnel. All in all, this is one of the most complete transition offensive system videos you will find on the market. In 41 minutes, Coach Miller provides you with a system that will pressure opponents from the opening tip until the final buzzer. Rent this transition offense basketball drills DVD today.

Mover Blocker Offense Drills & Plays
John A. Ferguson High School head coach Tom Jicha builds upon his Mover-Blocker offense video with this presentation that focuses on set plays and basic drills and skills. You will see 12 different set plays that are used when defenses begin to figure out what the offense is doing. These types of plays are great after a timeout, at the end of a quarter, or for the first play of the second half. Coach Jicha discusses the importance of players being able to score in a number of ways and addresses those skills with a series of drills.
Set Plays in the Mover Blocker Offense
Being able to attack a defense without changing personnel is a big advantage for an offense. This keeps the defense guessing. The essential actions of the Mover-Blocker offense – flare screens, back screens, pin-downs, etc. – are easy to recognize after a while. When a defense recognizes these actions, it’s time to hit them with set plays designed for quick scores. You will see 12 plays the cover the five major scoring areas identified in the initial Mover-Blocker offense video. Each play produces either a layup or a 3-point attempt.
Drills for the Mover Blocker Offense
The drills begin with a basic warm up that incorporates several different motions including layups off a curl, jumpers off a curl, 3-pointers, and fades to the corner. Coach Jicha then moves to 2-on-0 breakdown drills where players work on backdoor cuts, flare 3-point shots, attacking the paint, attacking baseline, and screening/re-screening. The final segment of the video focuses on a series of two-man game drills. Players work on the pick and roll, pick and pop, 7 cut, and the dribble hand-off.
This video ensures that your players will learn the actions necessary to run the Mover-Blocker offense. It also gives you a number of set plays to turn to when the defense starts recognizing those actions. Rent this mover blocker offense drills DVD today.

(Rental)-Handling Defensive Pressure
$15.99
Handling Pressure - Defensive Drills
Northridge Prep (IL) head boys basketball coach Will Rey has turned his program into a champion with 265 wins and 12 championships in just 14 seasons. His player development skills are a big reason why. He shares his philosophy and drills in this video presentation.
Coach Rey discusses player development in three distinct categories:
Physical and athletic performance
Basketball-specific skills (dribbling, shooting, passing, footwork, etc.)
Mental attitude and fortitude
Controlling the Neutral Zone
The neutral zone is the area between the offensive and defensive player that belongs to neither individual. Whether on offense or defense, players must learn to control that neutral space. When they do, players instantly become more effective one-on-one offensive players. To teach this, Coach Rey emphasizes:
Being in a low, athletic stance
Moving the ball from side to side using the “U” concept
Moving your feet faster than your opponent by pivoting
Passing “through” the defense by attacking one of five passing zones
Staying “close to the floor” when being trapped in the neutral zone
Building on these, Coach Rey introduces the Lions in the Cage drill. Four players work the ball around the key versus two defenders. The goal of the drill is to control the neutral zone. You’ll see how to dribble into a pass and be aggressive on offense. There are also a series of trapping drills illustrated here to help players deal with pressure.
Progression Defensive Drills
Coach Rey uses a series of full-court drills that combine a variety of skills. This maximizes time and increases the intensity of each drill. To start, one offensive player goes against two defenders. Then is it 2-on-1, placing the defense at a disadvantage. The drill progresses from 1-on-2 to 2-on-1 to 3-on-2 and so on up to 5-on-4.
The keys in the Progression drills are positioning and spacing. Players learn how to defend at a disadvantage and offensive players learn how to attack weak spots of a disadvantaged defense. You’ll see how to make cuts to get ahead of a trap situation and how to move the ball forward instead of backward against pressure.
If your team loses its space and gets overwhelmed by pressure, Coach Rey’s presentation is for you. After using these drills and techniques, you will find your team beating pressure and wreaking havoc on opponents. Rent this defensive drills DVD today.
Robert Jones
(Rental)-Floppy Defense To Disguise Your Zone & Man Defense
$18.99
Floppy Defense – A System to Disguise Your Zone & Man Half-Court Defense
The zone defense is become more popular among college and high basketball coaches across the nation because it does pose some difficulties for opposing offenses. In this video, Norfolk State head coach Robert Jones discusses and demonstrates his “Floppy Defense,” a combination of the 2-3 zone, 3-2 match-up zone, and man-to-man. Watch as Jones, a finalist for the Joe B. Hall Award in 2014, explains the defense in a chalk talk and then takes you to the court to demonstrate it.
Floppy Defense Basketball
Coach Jones first explains each of the three defenses – 2-3 zone, 3-2 matchup, and man-to-man – that make up the Floppy defense. You will see how and when to switch when the offense is running their play. This creates confusion for the offense and ends up slowing it down.
The defense starts in the traditional 2-3 zone and then switches to Floppy 5 (man-to-man), Floppy 3 (3-2), and back to 2-Flat, which is the 2-3. The first pass to your 3-man’s side determines the switch. Post players pick up opposing post players to ensure you don’t end up with mismatches on the wing when switching into Floppy 5. Coach Jones then shows you how to defend the most common actions his team’s see and how to defend ball screens.
Floppy Defense Breakdown Drills
Coach Jones takes to the court to show you the man-to-man breakdown drills. The drills stress denying passes, help defense on the ball, , post defense, and defending cutters. Players begin in 1-on-1 situations and incorporate other defenders to build the team defense. Closeouts and constant communication are emphasized in every drill.
Jones also gives you his 3-2 zone breakdown drills as well as a number of 2-3 zone drills. His “Top Two” drill features one guard pressuring the ball with the other guard defending the high post.
Full Court Pressure
Coach Jones likes to use full-court pressure before the Floppy defense to force opponents to play faster than they would like. This can disrupt the offense and force turnovers. Jones shows you the press, a 1-2-2 zone and then how to get right into the Floppy 5. He also shows you how to go from pressure to the 2-3 zone.
Jones’ Floppy concept is a unique approach to confusing opposing offenses. Give your team an edge against more talented teams with the Floppy defense!
