Mike Rhoades (Rental)-Motion Offense vs 2-3 Zone & Shooting Drills $9.50 $18.99
Motion Offense vs 2-3 Zone & My Favorite Shooting Drills If zone defenses continually give you problems, VCU head coach Mike Rhoades can help. The 2019 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year has had success everywhere he has been using a zone offense that uses motion principles to attack a 2-3 or 3-2 zone defense. In this motion offense vs 2-3 zone video, Coach Rhoades offers up an assortment of actions and quick hitters as well as seven shooting drills to help take down any zone defense. Zone Offense Coach Rhoades’ system of motion offense vs 2-3 zone allows for various off-ball and on-ball screens that can create advantages for perimeter players. The same actions can be run from different alignments to create illusion for the zone defense. “Gap Motion” and “Rover” are variations that help the offense adapt to different types of zones and confuse opponents with some extra wrinkles. The motion offense can be tailored to fit your personnel. It is completely adaptable to your players’ skill sets and you can choose which concepts to work on rather than be committed to a set structure. Coach Rhoades teaches post players how to play off of each other by moving and spacing with the “X” concept. Posts can run a 2-man motion that will help players read the floor and find openings in the defense. Rhoades also introduces concepts for guards to attack the paint. Zone Quick Hitters From a fast break, Coach Rhoades shows you how to flow right into the zone offense. He also demonstrates three quick-hitters that can be used to free up a shooter, run into a ball screen, or open up the high post. Rhoades also shows you four set plays against a 2-3 zone that he has used with great success. “Blazer” is one that pulls defender out of position to free up a shooter. “Knife” is another that gets cutters into the paint. Shooting Drills All offenses can benefit from improved shooting. Teams playing against zone defenses must be able to knock down open shots when they have them. Coach Rhoades shares seven shooting drills that are staples in his program. Some of what you will see includes: Two Men-One Ball: players get quick reps through multiple variations as a warm up Three Men-Two Balls: players again get quick reps working various shots to warm up Shooting Lines: players work four different ways to create a shot and compete for records Fatigue Drill: assesses players shooting ability to measure whether players have the “green light” in game situations Coach Rhoades wraps up his presentation with the ultimate drill for working your team’s drive and kick game. The “5-on-0 Hot” Drill teaches players to attack the paint, space the floor, and play off each other while working on their shooting. If you need to upgrade your zone offense attack, Coach Rhoades has what you are looking for in this video. This is one of the best presentations for zone offense that you will find. Saul Phillips (Rental)-Multi--option Screen And Roll Offense $8.00 $15.99
Multi-Option Screen & Roll Offense Northern State University head coach Saul Phillips understands how important the pick and roll is in today’s modern basketball. Phillips honed his offense while at Division I Ohio University and North Dakota State. His Bison teams won two Summit League titles and Phillips was the 2014 league Coach of the Year. In this video, Coach Phillips shares his multiple option screen and roll offense. Coach Phillips’ system is a great for teams that are constantly playing bigger, more athletic opponents. Teams that like to pressure passing lanes are teams that Phillips loves to attack with his offense. In the video, he starts out explaining the offense from a 2-on-2 setup. He begins by showing three types of ball screens: Vertical: Basic flat screen above the three-point line with Phoenix Action Standard: Coach Phillips shows you how to read the hedge and what options are available with the screener facing the sideline Chip: This is a screen in transition where the screener sets and pops Next, Phillips shows you how to “pink” and “plus” the screen. These actions counter defensive pressure and weak side help. Then, he gets into options for the screener who can post after rolling or create a mismatch by screening away for a shooter. Coach Phillips then demonstrates three different sets in his offense – Gold, Open, and Vertical. This is done is a 5-on-0 setting. Coaching points include putting your best players in the best possible positions to make smart decisions. Phillips talks about a number of defensive pressure situations – hard hedges, traps, and switches – and how to defeat them. This is an outstanding video for teams at any level looking for ways to create mismatches and take down teams that like to apply defensive pressure.

Kurt Guelsdorf (Rental)-Multiple Pressing System in the Full & Half Court $9.50 $18.99
Multiple Basketball Press Defense:  Pressing System in the Full & Half Court: Using a Numbering System to Simplify Your Presses Kurt Guelsdorf, former girls head coach at Oregon City (OR) High School, used a multiple pressing system to lead his teams to over 450 wins and three state championships (2004, 2009, 2014). In this video, Coach Guelsdorf shares with you the pressing system that created a fun, up-tempo style of play that led to his program’s success. You’ll see exactly how he switched coverages instantly to confuse opponents. The Basketball Press Defense System Coach Guelsdorf’s system uses a variety of presses from man-to-man to zone presses like the 2-2-1, 1-2-2, and the Diamond 1-2-1-1. What makes Coach Guelsdorf’s system so easy is the use of a numbering system. Once the numbering system is mastered, Guelsdorf shows you how to break the court into thirds in an effort to teach players where they need to be to force the offense and create trapping angles. Basketball Press Defense Coaching Points One of Coach Guelsdorf’s most important coaching points related to pressing defenses is that you are going to give up some easy points at times. He preaches that you cannot make the same mistake three times in a row. Pressing teams have to be able to adjust on the fly and Coach Guelsdorf’s system allows for that. The pressure will break down some times, but players must be reminded that the system wears opponents down over the course of a game creating opportunities later in games. As far as the technical aspect of pressing defenses, Coach Guelsdorf will talk about the “closest man” rule which makes using any press simple. Players must have active hands, feet, and eyes at all times. They also must be able to sprint from one side of the floor to the other to give the appearance that there are no holes in your press. If you do get beat at some point, the ability to trail and tip is a key in recovering. Basketball Press Defense Breakdown Drills After outlining the system and each of the numbered presses, Coach Guelsdorf gets into the drills he uses to make his players sharp and prepared for anything an opponent might do. The drills include: Mad Dog Drill: Use to find best out-of-bounds defender Punch Drill: Helps players learn to punch the ball from behind and switch to offense immediately Turn Drill: Teaches players to apply pressure on the ball and force traps 2-on-2 & 3-on-3 Trap: Players learn to rotate and use closest man rule when trapping Running Groups: Teaches the entire team to flow seamlessly from one press to another Coach Guelsdorf’s system takes the confusion out of playing multiple presses. If you are a pressure team or want to become one, this 85-minute video can help you install a multiple pressure defense that attacks opponents. Rent this basketball press defense DVD today.

Bryce Drew (Rental)-Multiple Strategies For Attacking Zone Defenses $9.00 $17.99
Bryce Drew: Multiple Strategies for Attacking Zone Defenses Teams at all levels have difficulties with zone defenses. Some of the problem is related to players not having the ability to effectively pass the basketball. Former Vanderbilt and Valparaiso head coach Bryce Drew has had success against zone defenses because of an offense that promotes ball movement. In order to have great ball movement, players must be great passers. In this video, Coach Drew shows you a number of drills that you can use to improve your team passing. You will see how to take advantage of your personnel in an effort to be at 2-3 zone. You will also see six set plays to use against zone defenses and how to beat an odd-front zone defense. Basic Passing Drills Coach Drew breaks down the elements of effective passing. Two drills are demonstrated to teach the basics of chest passes, overhead passes, bounce passes, fakes, and the baseball pass. Coach Drew also shows you how to make these drills more competitive. The One More Pass Drill trains players to swing the ball to an open shooter. Breaking a 2-3 Zone Coach Drew’s offensive system is flexible and can be customized to fit your personnel. He will teach you how to adapt based upon the skill of your post players. You will see how movement can be added by your posts and perimeter players to add another element for the defense to be concerned with. Coach Drew will also show you a few inside-out plays to break the defense using the posts. You’ll see different alignments used to attack the 2-3 including a 4-out alignment to spread the floor for teams with good guards. Coach Drew will also show you how to take advantage of talented post players or when size is an advantage. Sets vs a 2-3 Zone Coach Drew demonstrates six set plays designed to attack the 2-3 zone. Utilizing ball screens, overload, and baseline screens, Coach Drew shows you how to create scoring opportunities. The Stack series offers three plays run from the same alignment. Coach Drew shows you counters as well depending on how a defense plays you. Coach Drew also discusses two methods of attacking odd-front defenses like the 3-2 zone. Again, he shows you how to spread the floor if you have smaller lineups or how to overload the baseline if you have good post players. Coach Drew gives you everything you need to break the 2-3 zone defense. From drills to set plays and continuity sets, you will have everything you need to attack opponents and make them wish they hadn’t played the 2-3 zone.
