You can see defensive drills that include defensive linemen learning how to defeat blocks and reach blocks. Later defensive linemen learn the "Pull/Slide drill to achieve gap control and pass rush. The drill is then followed by a chase drill with both the inside and defensive linebackers.
Curtis and his staff are experts in teaching their teams' special philosophies, techniques and schemes that focus on punt and return. Curtis and his team do a great job explaining techniques and breaking down players into smaller groups to improve the techniques. John Calipari
(Rental)-All Access Kentucky (calipari)
$39.99
John Calipari Basketball Practice
John Calipari has experienced a high level of success during his tenure at Kentucky. For the first time he is opening the doors of the famous gym to show you how he has accomplished so much. During the over five hours worth of instruction you will get an all access look into the first practices of Kentucky's 2009-2010 season.
Basketball Practice 1
The first practice is almost entirely focused on the offense. Coach Cal gives instruction on his philosophy behind his offense along with showing you how he build his transition game. He then shows the foundations of his now famous Dribble Drive half court offense. He continues his offensive instruction by showing how Kentucky runs their transition using a 5-0 drill where all the different options are explained and demonstrated. He then moves into a series of player development with a focus on ball handling and layups. He has players go through a series of drills that focus on improving the players speed, moves, and finish with contact.
Calipari continues to drill transition fundamentals using a handful of drills that include a full court team layup drill, full court two-man passing, three-man full court, and a handful of others. During this practice segment Calipari feeds his players his attacking mentality by requiring them to attack the basket harder and faster with each progressing drill. Calipari briefly goes over the defense by emphasizing how to protect the basket.
Post Basketball Practice Discussion
An amazing feature of this DVD package is the nearly 40 minutes of question and answer after the first practice. Calipari fields questions from the attending questions that range from player skill level, dribble drive philosophy, and practice planning. It is a truly valuable piece that allow Coach Cal to go into greater detail over what you have just seen.
During the same segment, NBA veteran and current assistant coach Rod Strickland goes over some ball handling drills that Kentucky uses to increase skill and ball quickness. He was also an assistant at Memphis where he helped mentor NBA studs Derick Rose and Tyreke Evans.
Another Kentucky assistant, John Robic, goes into much greater detail about the dribble drive offense. He details player spacing and positioning along with going over position specific expectations. He goes into even more detail involving some of the post skills required in the drive that include slides, relocation, sealing, and screens.
Basketball Practice 2
The second practice is when Coach Cal builds his stifling man-to-man defense. Calipari uses drills ranging from 1-on-1 to 5-on-5 that reinforce Kentucky's defensive fundamentals which include early help, back foot fake, lunge, and closeouts. Calipari also teaches his rules for transition defense and demonstrates a combination transition drill that progresses from 2-on-1 all the way to 5-on-5. Kentucky is known for intense, aggressive man defense and this segment will show you the foundation of how they get there.
Using the tried and true shell drill, Calipari show you how they teach the base actions of their defense which include closeouts, ball pressure, closeouts, and keeping vision of the ball. While the shell drill is not new, the way they run it is certainly unique. Calipari stresses the importance of getting the "30 Second Perfect Stop" as a way to ensure players are performing each action perfectly.
Throughout practice you will get a great feel for how Calipari coaches. He does not hold back in providing coaches and players with all of his knowledge and experience as he perfects their technique in every drill.

Jeff Capel
(Rental)-All Access Oklahoma's Jeff Capel
$39.99
Basketball Practice Plan with Jeff Capel
Get an inside, all access look into three basketball practices of the Oklahoma Sooners as they get ready for the 2010-2011 season. Head coach Jeff Capel is a phenomenal coach and you will get to see how he emphasizes execution and defensive pressure to lead his teams to perennial success.
Pre-Practice & Film Room:
The players work on some intense ball handling drills before practice begins. This is a wonderful way to warm up and work on individual skills. The coaches emphasize controlling the ball with your head and eyes up as the players complete each drill.
Also prior to practice, the players and coaches watch game film. Since it is early in the season, many of the mistakes are basic (not jumping to the ball, reads on offense) but it is still very cool to see how to properly evaluate and communicate film.
Shooting Drills:
Capel likes to run an up-tempo system and their shoot practice session reflects this desire. He shows a handful of drills that mostly all happen at a quick pace and require all players to take shots from game-like situations. While most of the drills are full-court with players sprinting up and down the court, some are in smaller groups. He uses paired shooting for players to get high repetitions from game spots along with mixed shooting that pairs bigs and guards to work on their movement off of the ball. In addition, he shows a jab series to help work on players ability to score from the perimeter.
Defensive System:
The main focus of the pre-season, at least on defense, is teaching and implementing a match-up zone. Capel and his staff show a tremendous progression that takes the team from a basic shell drill all the way to 5-on-5 full court scrimmaging. Capel likes to emphasize ball pressure and taking away certain spots on the floor with the match-up zone. He also briefly teaches and demonstrates OU's full court press called "41 Hot."
Transition Offense:
Since Capel loves for his teams to run, he spends a great deal of time teaching his team how to play in transition. He uses drills that range from 3-on-3 to 5-on-5 to help players find the flow of the game and find their shots inside of that. He also has a series of secondary break options that include: Bounce, Slice, Flex, Post and Corner.
Out of Bounds Series:
Since it is early in the season, Capel shows OU's go-to out of bounds plays called "Box" and "Regular." While it is only two play calls, there are multiple options and counters inside of each play. With this once practice segment, you can bring back over eight play options to your team.
Coach Capel is one of the finest coaches in the country as his has a keen eye for execution and proper fundamentals. Rent this Basketball Practice plan video today.

Basketball Practice with Coach Fran Dunphy
Go inside Coach Fran Dunphy's Basketball Practice. Fran Dunphy is one of the most recognized coaches in not only the American Conference but all of college basketball. His teams are perennially well prepared and disciplined and it has led to hundreds of wins.
This DVD is very unique in that it offers you an unprecedented inside look at actual Temple practices in the middle of their season. This is real life coaching at the highest level. Coach Dunphy will go through a handful of their staple drills but will also spend a great deal of time showing you how to prepare for an opponent.
Session 1: Pregame Preparation for Buffalo
This basketball practice session is filmed the day before Temple plays Buffalo. It shows the entire process starting with the film room. You will learn how to break down film of an opponent and then how to apply what you learned to the practice floor. The assistant coaches provide an excellent example of how to do a great job of running the scout team with your backup players to simulate your opponents offense and defense. Since this is the day before a game, you will also get an idea of how intense a pre-game practice should be.
While it is important to prepare for your opponent, it is also just as important to get better at what you do. Dunphy spends much of the practice working Temple on areas of improvement. You will see a series of transition drills, post-perimeter drills, and competitive two-man drills. You will also see some different options out of Temple's "Nose" two man game. Dunphy is a tremendous teacher and does an amazing job of giving players immediate feedback without disrupting the flow of practice.
This is a fast-paced, energetic practice that keeps most players involved with every drill.
Session 2: One Day Preparation
Basketball is a tournament based sport where you often only have one day to prepare for an opponent. This practice session will give you are great foundation for how you can get this done. The session starts in the locker room where Dunphy breaks down the Buffalo game, both good and bad, with the players. They then go into the film room to scout their next opponent. The team finally hits the court where they work on implementing the focuses they identified in the film room.
An emphasis of the practice is physical post play, it was a problem during the Buffalo game and is an emphasis for the next opponent. Dunphy shows a series of 3-on-3 and 4-on-4 drills that work both the perimeter and post players. The drills are great, for both the offense and defense, at working on a variety of screening situations.
Temple also works on their 2-3 zone with a focus on what adjustments they will have to make. Dunphy shows how to lightly condition your time by using a 5-on-5 controlled scrimmage where the second unit runs the offense and defense that they will face against Delaware.
Session 3: Game Preparation for Duke
This basketball practice session shows the Temple staff preparing the team for the legendary Duke Blue Devils. The assistants and Dunphy go through the Duke Scouting report where they discuss individual players (tenancies, strengths, and weaknesses), team offense, and team defense.
On the court, Dunphy takes him team through what seems like a normal mid-season practice. They do less work on preparing for what they will see against Duke and more on working on their own sets and drills. You will see offense to defense transition drills, two man action drills, and some shell defense work with common actions used by the next opponent.
Under the leadership of Coach Dunphy, Temple has been one of the most consistent programs in the NCAA and you can capture much of what makes them special by renting this DVD today. Rent this basketball practice video today.

Andy Toole
(Rental)-All Access: Andy Toole
$39.99
Watch 3 Andy Toole basketball practices on this video. Robert Morris head coach Andy Toole welcomes you into his gym to take an all-access, inside look into what three days of basketball practice with his team looks like. You will see his intense, no-nonsense approach to pushing his players to get the most out of them.
Toole keeps each practice fresh by presenting new challenges for his players to try and complete each day. Toole is unique in how he uses statistics during practice. Almost every drill, and certainly every day, Toole will use some sort of statistical analysis to track improvement. He is a very spirited, enthusiastic coach and his practices are great translations of his energy.
Basketball Practice 1 w/ Andy Toole
Coach Toole opens up the first basketball practice by establishing his defensive philosophy and the drills used to reinforce it. The teams basic principle is to be intense and to make the offensive players uncomfortable. Coach Toole uses a series of defensive breakdown drills to teach the proper technique for every position. He breaks his team into multiple squads in order to maximize the number of reps they can get for each breakdown drill.
He also works on offense. He demonstrates a bread and butter drill for the program called the "Daily Dozen." It is a lay up drill that emphasizes footwork, finishing, and decision making. he also uses the lay-ups to teach spacing, kickouts, and cutting. Weather it is offense or defense, Toole really emphasizes how beneficial quick, correct decision making can be for the team.
Basketball Practice 2 at Robert Morris
Coach Toole spends a large chunk of this basketball practice on the offensive side of the ball. He is working on teaching basics of his offense to his team including automatic two man action, fundamental skills, and conditioning. He uses both 5-on-5 and 5-on-0 competition drills to teach the basic sets and actions his team will use on offense.
Coach Toole demonstrates a really cool way for you to track and enhance the competition taking place during practice. Every drill has a pre-determined point value associated with it. The coaching staff tracks which teams and players have the most points over the course of the day and season. This enhances each players competitive spirit during the drill which could lead to drastic improvements over the course of the season.
This practice also shows a great build-up. He starts with the teams line-series using a 5-on-0 multiple possession drill. Once the players have met expectations, he teaches them how to beat defensive pressure by cutting hard, re-screening, looking for the post, and taking care of the ball.
Basketball Practice 3
Practice three is more of a "gut check" than the other two days. Coach Toole presents a handful of challenges to the players to try and see who is willing to step up to meet the expectations. He does still do some teaching and drill work. He does some more defensive work using stations to challenge the defense against difference offensive actions. He also teaches his post players how to carve out space in preparation for a drive to the hoop and how to position their body to get ready for a pass. He also shows how to used a controlled 5-on-5 scrimmage in order to work on specific offensive goals.
Get a first hand look into how an intense, college practice is run and bring some of those same drills and techniques into your own gym by renting this DVD today. Rent this basketball practice DVD today.
