Description
The main theme of the Coach Kowalczyk’s practices is accountability. From pre-practice video session to working on individual skills to full court scrimmages to players learning the art of being accountable, there is so much that the players will be learning in this program. The practices developed by the coach are so good that they focus on both the individual and the team development and the way coach teaches its style is very honest, positive and demanding.
With the help of this All Access video, you will come to see how the coach Kowalczyk has started a tradition of great shooting teams at Toledo. In order to improve your overall skills, each practice consists of three competitive shooting segments (at the beginning, middle and at the end). Furthermore, you will also be having some really good examples of how to make your intra-squad scrimmages more demanding, competitive and productive also.
The best part about these practices is that these are very well organized and are highly demanding. Each practice is beautifully paced and all the drills have proper time components and consequences for losing.
Disc 1
The first segment of the practice is all about focusing on the man-to-man offense, transition offense, defensive breakdowns and game-like shooting drills. So, the coach will be working on lots of different areas of yours. It will make you a better player overall when you will go through the first segment. The coach will be working on your skill development with the help of several segments for shooting and for the position breakdown drills. In order to get a fast-tempo offense to beat the defense down the floor for easy scoring opportunities, the Toledo staff will be making use of the mini-scrimmages with a 10-second shot clock. For the sake of getting transition shots for point guards, wings and posts the coach will be making use of the Bang Bang which is a 3-on-0 transition offense drill.
The next thing that coach Kowalczyk will be focusing on will be the series of breakdown drills in order to work on the defensive concepts like post traps, on-ball defense and helping the helper. In order to defend both high and side pick and rolls, the Toledo will be making use of the Rockets drill which is a 4v4 ball screen defense drill.
The first practice session will come to an end with the late-game special situations in a full-court, 5-on-5 scenario. You will witness how the Rockets play with a lead late in the game.
Disc 2
In this practice session, both the sides of the ball are covered by the coach. The coach will also cover numerous offensive and defensive drills. When it comes to the offensive side, the coach Kowalczyk will make the club play the 5v5, running secondary break actions, motion offense and sets vs. man-to-man in a controlled scrimmages. These drills and scrimmages are very important for the betterment of your offensive skills.
Now for the defensive side, the coach Kowalczyk will make the players focus on the ball screen defense. The Rockets will be working on the closeouts and will contain the dribble in different station work. The players will try to trap the ball screens and the rotations on the back end of the defense when the players will go through the Shell Defensive drill. For the post players, they will have to guard the post prior to the post entry and then practice walling the moment the offensive player gets the ball on the block.
Now for the transition offense and defense there are multiple drills like the 5-on-4 transition and the 76ers drill.
