Mike Divilbiss
(Rental)-Buzz Defense Breakdown Drills & Special Situations
$18.99
The Buzz Defense: Breakdown Defense Drills & Special Situations
With over 30 years of college coaching experience, Mike Divilbiss presents the Buzz Defense, a fast-paced trapping zone defense that completely disrupts an opponent’s offensive attack. In the video, Coach Divilbiss teaches the breakdown drills you can use to teach players how to move, react, and rebound out of the Buzz defense. You will also see how to prepare the Buzz defense for a number of special situations that often arise during a game.
Breakdown Drills
Coach Divilbiss explains a number of drills and starts with one that teaches guards to move from on-ball defense to another “home base” on the floor. Defenders sprint from one pass to the next while trying to get deflections and disrupt the offense’s movement. Players also work on trapping, defending one- or two-guard fronts, and taking away passing lanes.
The Inside Drill teaches the bottom three players in the Buzz how to move and rotate should the ball get past the two trapping guards. Players develop an uncanny ability to anticipate the next pass while also learning what to do when the ball is skipped, goes to the corner, or enters the high post.
One of the keys in playing a zone defense is making sure your athletes are trained in how to rebound. Coach Divilbiss reviews where players must rotate to and the spots on the floor they need to cover when a shot goes up. If not trained properly, rebounding can become difficult in the zone defense.
Special Situations Defense Drills
Divilbiss has watched over the years as opponents attempt to break down the Buzz. As a result, he has come up with plenty of adjustments. He reviews the most common things teams do to beat the Buzz. He also reviews defending out of bounds situations, adjusting to a 1-4 high set, best times to trap, and how to cover in defensive transition.
Coach Divilbiss owes his success to the Buzz defense and gives you the drills needed to ensure it operates at its best. Empower your players to play great defense and watch the wins pile up this season! Rent this breakdown defense drills DVD today.

Competitive Basketball Drills to Improve Your Program
Comprehenisve Competitive Basketball Drills! If you struggle with practice organization or finding drills that help your program develop, four-time national champion head coach Steve Schmidt has the answers for you. Coach Schmidt has over 700 wins at Mott Community College in Michigan and is the winningest active coach at the junior college level.
With four national junior college titles under his belt, Coach Schmidt provides you with a number of practice ideas that you can incorporate directly into your program. He will also share with you over 15 of his favorite competitive basketball drills that will accelerate the skill development of your players. From rebounding drills to competitive team drills, Coach Schmidt has everything you need to improve your program.
Ball Handling Drills
Coach Schmidt gives you four ball handling drills that you can use in a variety of ways. Most importantly, these ball handling drills teach your players to dribble effectively with both hands. A warm-up drill incorporates stretching along with handling the basketball. You will see a dribbling drill that simulates game action and another that you can use as a conditioning drill. The fourth drill is a simple scissors drill to work on handling the ball.
Passing Drills
If there is one fundamental that gets lost in today’s basketball practices, it is the art of passing. Coach Schmidt presents a series of drills that work on breaking a press with a diagonal pass, defensive slide passing, and the full-court pass that results in a layup. These drills will not only improve your team’s passing, but also the ability to catch the basketball.
Rebounding Drills
According to Schmidt, rebounding is the most difficult of all basketball skills to teach. Coach takes you through four drills that address both the fundamentals of rebounding and the competitive, physical nature of the skill. One of Coach Schmidt’s favorite drills is the “3 and Out” which helps players with not only their rebounding but offensive and defensive skills as well. The drill also forces players to compete for an extended period of time.
Defense Drills
Defense is fundamental to successful basketball and Coach Schmidt teaches three drills to help players with their footwork and technique. The 50 Drill is not a favorite of players, but it forces them to get into a good stance and practice good footwork. The H.I.T. drill challenges your defense’s Heart, Intensity, and Toughness. The final segment of the series ends with a 2-on-2 drill which helps players understand proper positioning.
Offense Drills
Game-like situations are best according to Coach Schmidt and he enjoys putting his players in competitive situations. The 7 and Out drill helps players is a fun way for players to work on your offensive concepts. Southern Indiana is another 1-on-1 offensive drill that helps players work together for a united cause. This 73-minute video contains everything you need to develop players in your program and put you on the road to success. Rent this competitive basketball drills DVD today.

Decision Training: Unleashing Basketball IQ and Game-Changing Skills
Introduction
Welcome to our comprehensive guide on Decision Training, a cutting-edge approach to basketball skill development that will take your team's performance to new heights. In this article, we will delve into the intricacies of Decision Training, providing you with expert insights, advanced techniques, and detailed breakdowns to help you outperform your opponents on the basketball court. Whether you're a coach, player, or basketball enthusiast, this guide is your key to unlocking the full potential of Decision Training.
Understanding Decision Training
Decision Training is a revolutionary method that focuses on enhancing basketball IQ, decision-making skills, and situational awareness. This innovative approach goes beyond technical drills and places players in realistic game scenarios, challenging them to make split-second decisions and execute the most effective actions. By implementing Decision Training, your team can gain a significant advantage by developing a deeper understanding of the game and making smarter decisions on the court.
Key Principles of Decision Training
1. Realistic Game Scenarios
Decision Training places players in realistic game scenarios to replicate the pressures and challenges faced during actual games. This includes simulating various offensive and defensive situations, such as fast breaks, pick-and-rolls, and defensive rotations. By experiencing these scenarios in practice, players develop the ability to make quick and accurate decisions under pressure.
2. Read and React
The Read and React principle is a central component of Decision Training. Players learn to read the defense, anticipate actions, and react accordingly. This involves recognizing defensive rotations, identifying passing lanes, and making intelligent choices based on the given situation. The focus is on teaching players to think critically and make effective decisions in real-time.
3. Skill Integration
Decision Training integrates technical skills seamlessly with decision-making abilities. Players are encouraged to apply their shooting, passing, dribbling, and defensive skills in the context of game situations. This integration ensures that decision-making and execution go hand in hand, allowing players to make the most effective plays based on their skill sets.
Implementing Decision Training
To successfully implement Decision Training, teams must focus on key strategies and techniques. Let's explore some of the essential elements that will enhance your team's performance:
1. Game-Realistic Drills
Design game-realistic drills that challenge players to make decisions in high-pressure situations. Create scenarios that replicate game dynamics, incorporating offensive and defensive actions. For example, set up drills where players must make quick decisions on whether to shoot, pass, drive, or defend based on the movements of defenders and teammates.
2. Film Study and Analysis
Incorporate film study and analysis as a vital part of Decision Training. Review game footage to identify decision-making opportunities, discuss different options players could have chosen, and analyze the outcomes. This process helps players develop a deeper understanding of the game, learn from their mistakes, and make more informed decisions in future situations.
3. Simulated Game Play
Engage in simulated game play to provide players with realistic decision-making experiences. Organize scrimmages or controlled game situations where players can apply the decision-making skills they have learned. This allows them to practice making split-second choices, communicating with teammates, and adapting to different game scenarios.
4. Mental Preparation and Visualization
Emphasize mental preparation and visualization techniques as part of Decision Training. Encourage players to visualize game situations, imagine themselves making the right decisions, and executing the desired actions. This mental rehearsal enhances their ability to make quick, accurate decisions on the court and reinforces positive decision-making patterns.
The Benefits of Decision Training
Implementing Decision Training offers numerous benefits that can elevate your team's performance and enhance their basketball skills. Let's explore some key advantages:
1. Improved Basketball IQ
Decision Training enhances players' basketball IQ by challenging them to think critically and make quick decisions in realistic game situations. Through repetitive exposure to these scenarios, players develop a deeper understanding of the game, anticipate actions, and make smarter choices on the court. This heightened basketball IQ translates into more efficient gameplay and a competitive edge over opponents.
2. Enhanced Decision-Making Skills
By incorporating Decision Training into your team's practice regimen, players develop enhanced decision-making skills. They learn to assess options, analyze the defense, and choose the most effective actions in real-time. This ability to make split-second decisions under pressure leads to improved game management, better shot selection, and heightened situational awareness.
3. Increased Game Awareness
Decision Training cultivates a heightened sense of game awareness among players. They learn to read the defense, identify open teammates, and exploit defensive vulnerabilities. This increased game awareness allows players to make timely passes, find scoring opportunities, and make defensive plays that disrupt opponents' strategies. The result is a team that is more in sync, anticipates plays, and maximizes scoring chances.
4. Enhanced Communication and Team Chemistry
Decision Training fosters effective communication and strengthens team chemistry. Players learn to communicate their decisions, provide feedback to teammates, and coordinate their actions on the court. This open line of communication enhances teamwork, builds trust, and creates a cohesive unit that operates with synchronicity. As a result, the team becomes more cohesive, making faster and more efficient decisions collectively.
5. Transferrable Skills
The skills developed through Decision Training are highly transferrable to game situations. The ability to make quick decisions, read the defense, and execute plays under pressure can be applied across various basketball scenarios. These skills not only benefit players during games but also in practice sessions and future basketball endeavors.
Conclusion
Decision Training is a game-changing approach that enhances basketball IQ, decision-making skills, and game awareness. By implementing the key principles, strategies, and techniques outlined in this guide, you will equip your team with the tools necessary to outperform opponents and maximize their basketball potential. Remember, mastering Decision Training requires practice, repetition, and a commitment to continuous improvement. So, embrace this revolutionary approach, unleash your team's decision-making prowess, and witness their transformation into intelligent, strategic players. The path to basketball excellence starts here!

Frank Allocco
(Rental)-Competitive Drill Progressions For Creating Energy In Your Gym
$17.99
Competitive Basketball Drills for Creating Energy in Your Gym
Frank Alloco built a high school powerhouse at De La Salle HS in California where he won two state championships and earned a couple of national coach of the year honors. In this video, Coach Alloco gets into his coaching philosophy and how he uses breakdown drills to install his offensive and defensive systems. He shows you the drill progressions starting from 1-on-1, to 2-on-2, and eventually 5-on-5. You’ll see Coach Alloco teach the drills in great detail in a live setting.
Coaching Today’s Athlete
Coach Alloco introduces his presentation by talking about how today’s athlete is much different than even 10 years ago. He starts with some philosophical statements and quotes that have helped him bridge the gap between generations. These include:
The mindset and attitude of today’s player
Seasonal opportunities and when to “rebirth” a program
Drill types and the decline in fundamental emphasis
Offensive Transition
You will see Coach Alloco demonstrate three drills that he uses to teach transition offense. The drills will help:
Teach your team to the get the ball out of the net quickly and up the floor
Learn to attack the defense in transition in even and disadvantage situations
Teach your players how to relieve pressure while still playing fast
Rebounding Drills
Three different rebounding drills are demonstrated through a series of breakdown drills. Each ends with a game-like rebound and incorporates other facets of the game like closeouts. The 3-on-3 Triangle Rebounding drill teaches players to box out from different angles.
Defensive Fundamentals
Players should understand the easiest shots in basketball are the ones closest to the hoop. Knowing that, they should always work to keep the ball out of the paint and away from the basket. Coach Allocco emphasizes this in game-like drills that teach your players to:
Closeout, play on-ball and off-ball defense, and double the low post
Stop the ball in transition and play in a disadvantaged situation
Communicate on defense
Coach Allocco ties his entire defensive philosophy together in a 5-on-5 Identity drill, where players are put in game-like situations. Coach Allocco’s detail oriented teaching style can help you build your own drill progressions to teach your team to compete at a championship level. Rent this competitive basketball drills DVD today.

Although the Veer Offense isn't complicated or fancy, John Curtis Christian School has been using it to make baffling defenses since 1975. John Curtis Christian School, which switched to the Veer Offense back in 1975, has won 19 titles and reached the Louisiana HS State Championship Game 24 times. This video explains the Veer Offense in detail and how it can be used to manage multiple defenses. This video will cover four key points in properly executing the offense. These include how to neutralize better defensive players, get the ball to the perimeter and make the secondary play on both sides of the field. Also, how to eliminate coverages that can make it difficult to throw a ball. The offense can gain 3 1/2 yards per play, which allows your team to control the clock and the chains. Coach Curtis explains the running back and quarterback assignments and the alignments involved in the execution of the triple option. Curtis also illustrates five plays that will help you implement the Veer Offense. These plays include the outside veer and inside veer as well as ride pass, ride throwback, and cutback.

Matt Hixenbaugh
(Rental)-Competing With Undersized Players
$17.99
Competing with Undersized Players
Most teams are not blessed with superior size and athletic talent on a year-in, year-out basis. Matt Hixenbaugh has won wherever he has been by using some very simple offensive and defensive tactics. He shows you how in this video.
Coach Hixenbaugh went 57-28 at Trinity Prep in Florida and 45-16 at Winter Park HS where he also won a 6A State Coach of the Year award. In this video, he teaches some basic offensive actions that help build players’ skills and confidence.
Inverted Offense Basketball
Coach Hixenbaugh shows you the Inverted Offense basketball system, which is part motion and part read-and-react. He brings bigger players away from the basket, which also brings bigger defenders away from the basket. The keys to the system are:
Flexibility in player placement in order to attack the opponent’s weakest link
Achieve makeable shots, primarily layups, that are created by design within the scheme
Use the ball movement and motion to control tempo and eliminate turnovers
Eliminate a size disadvantage by inverting guards and posts
Using 5-on-0 actions, you will see how Coach Hixenbaugh uses three breakdown drills and three buildup drills to teach the inverted basketball offense. As the drills progress, a new player is added as is a new layer to the offense. Players learn to read the defense and take what is given.
The offensive segment ends with a 5-on-5 scrimmage where the scoring system is changed to reinforce Coach Hixenbaugh’s offensive philosophy.
“Tipping” Zone Defensive Tactics
On defense, Coach Hixenbaugh shows you how to “tip” your zone defense toward the opponent’s best player. This helps to improve rebounding against bigger teams. The zone is a modified version of a 3-2 zone where the bottom defenders are to “tip” the rebound to a teammate.
Coaches around the country are at the mercy of the players they get in their program. They are not all blessed with great athletic talent, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be competitive. Gaining an edge can make the difference and Coach Hixenbaugh shows you how in this video.
