All Access Defensive Practice Plan with John Beilein After taking over as head coach of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, head coach John Beilein has allowed a series of “all-access” practice sessions to be released. With over 40 years of coaching experience, Coach Beilein has developed a style of defense that has suited his teams well. In this video taken while Beilein was at Michigan, you will get inside Beilein’s defensive system, see his preferred method of running the Shell Drill, and an effective late-game press and trapping system. Remember, all this comes from a coach who won coach of the year awards in three different conferences – Big Ten, CAA, and MAAC. Beilein won two Big Ten regular season titles, two Big Ten tournament championships, and reached the Final Four twice. It’s safe to say Coach Beilein knows a thing or two about basketball, specifically playing defense. Shell Drill, Ball Screens, Post Defense For Beilein, the Shell Drill is an opportunity to work on a number of defensive fundamentals. He will emphasize players getting into gaps to deny drivers and doing so with long, active hands that don’t drop below the shoulders. Players also get work on closeouts, rebounding with two hands, and dealing with cutters. Players transition to ball screen defense where Coach Beilein teaches technique on how to get through and around screens. He covers both high and side ball screens as well as post defense. Beilein covers the post defense before and after the ball is entered into the post and goes over the responsibility of the individual as well as the team. Press & Trapping System In late-game situations, Beilein likes to employ an aggressive trap to force ball handlers into making mistakes. You will see Coach Beilein teach players to get the primary trap in the full court before working to get a secondary trap in the half court if the initial trap is broken. One of the things you will notice is that Coach Beilein likes to keep things simple. He breaks down each drill and concept by demonstrating how he wants his players to move and act on the floor. You will pick up a good amount of Coach Beilein’s coaching philosophy as well as some great drills that you can use to enhance your defense. Rent this basketball defensive practice plan DVD today.

35 Best Passing Drills by John Calipari Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
John Calipari (Rental)-35 Best Passing Drills $18.99
BasksetballCoach.com Presents: 35 Best Passing Drills Many of the top coaches at the highest levels of the game of basketball will tell you one of the most important stats related to winning is assists. The assist is reflective of a team’s ability to take advantage of an opponent and put players into scoring position. This video takes you inside practice sessions with some of the games top coaches and trainers and gives you the tools necessary to improve your team’s passing skills. There is a wide variety of drills that work on everything from catching, bounce passing, outlet passing, and much more. Warm-Up Drills Monteverde (FL) Academy head coach Kevin Boyle, a three-time national champion, shares a pair of warm-up drills that work on passing and movement without the ball. Players work on V-cuts and perimeter exchanges in the first drill. The second has players work on shot fakes, middle drives, baseline drives, and drift passes to the corner. Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo, a Naismith Hall of Famer, uses a three-player drill to work on the fast break. The drill starts with a rebound and an outlet pass by a post player. The focus of the drill is on advancing the ball as much as possible with each pass. Gregg Marshall, the 2014 Naismith Coach of the Year after leading Wichita State to the Final Four, shows you a drill to work on passing by post players. Posts must block out, rebound the ball at its apex with two hand, and make an outlet pass to the correct side of the floor. Legendary high school head coach Bob Hurley of St. Anthony’s in New Jersey shows you an outlet passing drill he used to begin his practices. Players work in pairs and begin the drill by simulating a rebound off the glass. The player receiving the pass dribbles to the middle of the floor and makes a jump stop inside the free throw circle then passes to the rebounder who has run wide. More from the Best There are plenty more drills like the Four-Man Weave from Connecticut women’s head coach Geno Auriemma, who has 11 national titles and two Olympic gold medals. The list of contributors that you will see in this video includes Kentucky head coach John Calipari, Arizona head coach Sean Miller, Bill Self of Kansas, and many more. It is a literal “who’s who” of some of the best teachers of basketball fundamentals in the business.
Aggressive Transition Offense by Ed Cooley Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Ed Cooley (Rental)-Aggressive Transition Offense $17.99
Ed Cooley: Aggressive Transition Offense Playing transition offense in basketball is more than just running up and down the floor. Ed Cooley, head men’s basketball coach at Providence College shows you how to organize your transition offense in this video. Learn how to execute the fast break at a high level from the 2010 Ben Jobe National Coach of the Year. Coach Cooley shares with you his three phases of transition offense after a miss, his secondary break, and scoring against a set defense. Spacing the Floor One of the key components of running the fast break is spacing. Coach Cooley uses on-court demonstrations to show you the importance of a point guard pushing the ball up the floor and looking to get the ball to a post player for an easy basket. You will learn the concept of “street runners” which are wings that run wide up the floor looking for a drive, an open 3-point attempt, or a dish to the post. It is here where Coach Cooley also introduces his three phases of transition after a miss. Scoring off a miss and getting a score within the first three to five seconds of offense Secondary break using ball reversal and the trailing post player Scoring against a set defense and getting into your continuity offense Getting the Ball Out of Bounds Too many teams spend too much time inbounding the ball after a made basket by their opponent. Coach Cooley drills the idea of “tap and go” with the inbounder and point guard. This starts the transition offense. A simple two-player drill is used to teach this concept where the inbounder gets the ball quickly to the point guard in order to get the ball up the floor as quickly as possible. The Secondary Break When the initial fast break doesn’t result in a shot attempt, the second part of the transition offense begins. The ball is passed to the trailer running the floor. The trailer can swing the ball to the wing and screen away for the point guard. This results in a post-up opportunity or a pass back to the top placing the ball back into the hands of the point guard. The secondary break can also utilize a ball screen. The ball screen is used to take advantage of space and to also try and create some mismatches. The use of ball screens in the secondary break makes it very difficult for the defense. End-of-Game Quick Hitters Coach Cooley also shares with you a number of quick hitting plays designed to produce points in an end-of-game situation. Each play takes into account how many points are needed. For example, the first quick-hitter is a fake dribble hand-off. If you need two points, the point guard can drive to the basket. If you need three, there is an opportunity for a pass off of a fade or pin-down screen. If you are looking to increase the tempo of your offense, learn the transition offense from one of the game’s elite coaches. Coach Cooley covers all aspects of the fast break offense allowing you to easily implement some of his ideas into your offense. Rent this transition offense DVD today.

Aau Basketball: Billy Donovan's Father & Son Workout by Billy Donovan Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Billy Donovan (Rental)-Aau Basketball: Billy Donovan's Father & Son Workout $15.99
BASKETBALL WORKOUT SEAN MILLER ABOUT THE COACH He is the head coach of the University of Arizona. In 2014, he won the 2014 Pac-12 champions. He was also the coach of the year when he won it. He is also the three times conference coach of the year. He has been the coach of the year in 2010 A-10 Xavier. ABOUT THE VIDEO Basketball was introduced to Sean Miller at a very young age by his father. This is the reason that Miller sees it as important to also teach the game to his boys like a father would teach his sons. This video would keep you a massive hint as to how he has chosen to pass the game down to his sons. In the video, you can see clearly Sean miller teaching his boys the importance of having great handling skills. He also ensures that there is no difference between the workout which the Arizona Wildcats are going through and that of his sons. While this exercise is often regarded as tough for anyone who tries it, it is necessary if one is to develop power on his weaker hands and to gain the necessary handling in the game. One thing which is normally taken for granted in the sports is passing. Many people skill passing when it comes to training themselves on their individual skills. Through this video, the coach shows how to practice and improve this aspect of your game through the use of a wall. This is what the coach uses for his son. This allows them to practice drills that work with their chest region, then a bounce and of course, the overhead pass. In this video, Sean Miller also covers the shooting aspect of the game. He teaches his sons the same drills which he uses on students from Arizona. While it may be a bit worryingly due to the fact that his sons are not adults, there is little or no need to be afraid. Most of the workout here is to allow basketball players to develop the basics which they would need to play the game well and this is exactly what young players need. He also focuses on the attacking pressure. One skill or set which is used in basketball is the application of pressure in order to force the other team into making a mistake. He teaches them how to ensure that they are not swayed by a defender and how to remain open for fellow teammates. He also ensures that they cover the triple threat drill in the video. The coach makes this video an all-around thing by also focusing on certain defensive qualities which is sure to help you in your game. The video concludes after he explains to his sons how to use screens properly. The video is quite straightforward and easy to use. It helps young players to have the best shot at learning the game completely through sets of drills shown in this video.
