Basketball Offense - Conceptual Approach to Man-to-Man & Zone  Furman is not known as a basketball power, but head coach Bob Richey has led the school to back-to-back 20-plus win seasons including a school record 25 wins in the 2018-19 season. That season included wins over 2018 Final Four participants Villanova and Loyola-Chicago. How Coach Richey has done it at Furman is by teaching his players to read defenses and take what is given. In this video, he shows you how to teach your athletes how to break down defenders and develop an unstoppable offense. Basketball Offense Philosophy Coach Richey’s philosophy entails allowing players to go from Option 1 to Option 3 in a matter of seconds. He emphasizes close 2s, assisted 3-pointers, and getting players to the free throw line. Doing so can help any player excel at any position on the floor. Man Basketball Offense In the man defense segment, Coach Richey breaks down his terminology and shows the actions that he teaches starting with the transition offense. Players learn to use the open floor for easy cuts, drives, and dishes to open shooters. Once the offense transitions into the half-court, Coach Richey demonstrates a series of actions including a Houston series that uses a dribble handoff and a ball screen to create pick and rolls or pick and pops for your post players. Zone Basketball Offense Against zone defenses, Coach Richey likes to put a playmaker in the middle of the zone. Using a 4-around-1 set, players can still use man-to-man cutting actions to score. As players get more comfortable with the cutting actions, you can add in ball screens to create pick and roll situations that often leave wide open back cuts and wide open shooters. Coach Richey’s offensive system is an easy one to learn and one that players will love. By teaching athletes to read the defense and play without running a continuous offense, they become unstoppable in creating scoring opportunities. Rent this basketball offense DVD today.
4 Out 1 in & 5 Out Motion Offense by Bob Richey Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Bob Richey (Rental)-4 Out 1 in & 5 Out Motion Offense $18.99
Motion Offense 4 Out 1 In, 5 Out Motion Offense Furman head coach Bob Richey led the Paladins to a school-record 25 wins in 2018-19, a season that included wins over Villanova and Loyola two teams that played in the Final Four that year. Much of Coach Richey’s success can be traced to the culture that he has established at Furman. Part of that culture includes a simple offense that appears to be very complex to opponents. In this motion offense video, you will see how Coach Richey develops his offense by teaching players how to read what a defense is giving them. Players learn to overcome a defense that stops a first, second, third option in a traditional patterned offense. Watch as Coach Richey teaches the offense, his team philosophy and how he gets the most out of his players. Motion Offense Philosophy Furman plays in the very competitive Southern Conference. In order for Coach Richey’s team to beat opponents on a consistent basis, players and coaches must know the language you want to speak on the floor. Every coach has to know the program plan and vision and then be able to communicate that when interacting with athletes. This will ensure coaches maximize the talents and skill sets of all of their players. 4 Out 1 In Motion Offense Coach Richey employs a 4-Out motion offense. He starts his teaching by describing the basic terminology that players must know. Getting the ball into the post, low block, and short corner helps to create space on the strong side and allow for backdoor opportunities on defensive overplays. With post players occupying most of the defense, perimeter players are free to cut and fill looking for open shots. Guards can take advantage of ball screens on a kick out from the post and attack the basket or hit an open jump shot. The entire offense is orchestrated based on defensive reads. Players use simple actions that can be hard to defend because the offense isn’t run in a strict pattern. If you are looking to evolve your motion offense to center around reading the defense, this video should be added to your collection. Rent this motion offense DVD today.
