3 on 3 Basketball Player Development by Mike Procopio Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Mike Procopio (Rental)-3 on 3 Basketball Player Development $18.99
Mike Procopio’s 3-on-3 Basketball Player Development Developing players is the specialty of Coach Procopio, the current Director of Player Development for the Dallas Mavericks. Widely touted as the best player development coach in the NBA, Procopio shows you how you can develop your players using a variety of 3-on-3 situations. Teach offense or defense in 3-on-3 situations and watch your players develop the skills necessary to succeed on the court in this video. Procopio, who is the director and president of Hoop Consultants, has used his methods in working with over 75 NBA players, a list that includes the likes of Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade. Benefits of 3-on-3 Training for Basketball Player Development There are a number of reasons for using 3-on-3 situations to develop players. It allows for more touches than in 5-on-5 play. Working in a 3-on-3 environment forces defenders to focus and communicate which carries over into game situations. It is easier for coaches to break down offensive concepts and how to execute them in 3-on-3. It is also very valuable for coaches that do not have a large number of players. 3-on-3 Set Up Coach Procopio opens his 3-on-3 training by reviewing the variety of rules you can apply to help players learn certain skills. In some 3-on-3 situations, there will be rules for when player can or cannot dribble. Sometimes, they may be able to only use a certain number of dribbles. In other variations, screens may or may not be permitted. Coach’s 3-on-3 drills are great for learning concepts such as pin downs, back screens, and the pick & roll. With fewer players on the floor, players develop a knack for spacing and positioning. Players develop skills such as screen timing and where on the floor to set screens. Other offensive skills learned include cutting, passing, and reads when coming off a screen. Procopio’s 3-on-3 drills are not limited to offense. Players will learn how to talk on defense and communicate with their teammates in 3-on-3 situations. They will also improve on fighting through screens, switching, and help defense. The Pistols Set One of the more popular sets used in the NBA is Pistols. Procopio shows you how you can teach it using 3-on-3. The drill illustrates just how difficult it is to defend a pin down screen with a player coming off of it and immediately going to a dribble hand off. This 65-minute video is a lesson on how to use 3-on-3 situations to teach players offensive and defensive concepts. If you’re looking for something unique, Coach Procopio has it for you in this video. Rent this Basketball Player Development DVD today.

3 Out, 2 In Zone Offense by Jamie Dixon Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Jamie Dixon (Rental)-3 Out, 2 In Zone Offense $15.99
The first step in attacking the zone is to get the ball into the zone. Coach Dixon places a high value on players who can catch, pass, and make plays in traffic. To simulate playing against a zone, the first drill is a shooting drill starting at the baseline. Priorities include catch, rim and partner. Throw opposite is also an option. Playing 3-on-0 around the perimeter can help to break down the perimeter. Guards can be used to fill in the corners, wings, and points. Dixon teaches a hard dribble and jump-stop into the zone to ensure penetration. The zone offense can be demonstrated in a 5-on-5 alignment using many of Dixon's options. This offense can exploit the short corner, which is an area of the floor that is vulnerable for defense. High post is another area that can be used by the offense. On the perimeter, the on-ball screen can allow penetration into the zone gaps and cause coverage problems for defense. To create movement, set plays are used in the early stages of a possession. This allows for the flow into the main offensive attack. This zone offense has the advantage of taking advantage of weak areas and making it work through ball and player movement. 47 minutes. 2007.

3 Zone Offenses To Beat Any Zone Defense by Jim Larranaga Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Jim Larranaga (Rental)-3 Zone Offenses To Beat Any Zone Defense $15.99
Jim Larranaga: 3 Zone Offenses to Beat Any Zone Defense University of Miami head coach Jim Larranaga has enjoyed success everywhere he has been. He took George Mason to the Final Four in 2006 and took Miami to the Sweet Sixteen in 2013 when he earned the AP National Coach of the Year award. One of the things that has contributed to Larranaga’s success is an offensive attack that can break down any defense, including zone defenses. In this on-court clinic presentation, Coach Larranaga diagrams three-zone offenses you can use to beat any zone defense. He then takes those offenses on the court to demonstrate how he uses ball movement, man movement, screening, dribble penetration, and offensive rebounding to beat zone defenses. You’ll see each offense in a 5-on-0 and then a 5-on-5 setting. Slice & Dice Zone Offense The Slice & Dice is great against most any zone, but primarily the 2-3, 3-2, and 1-2-2. The offenses uses four perimeter players and one post. It forces the defense to move, communicate, and change their matchups. Crack & Carve Zone Offense The Crack & Carve is good against the same 2-3, 3-2, or 1-2-2 zone defenses. The difference is that this offense will utilize two post players. The idea, as the name attests, is for the two post players to carve out space, set screens, and create good shots either for themselves or for their teammates. Seek & Find Zone Offense The Seek & Find Offense is used specifically for the 1-3-1 zone defense. This offense uses a 4-Out formation and then uses combinations of diagonal passing, back screens, down screens, and penetration to break down and dismantle the zone thereby creating open shots. With three different zone offenses, you have the ability to install the one that best fits your personnel. You can also install all three and use them in different situations. Order now to take advantage of Coach Larranaga’s expertise in designing zone offenses.

3-2 Zone Defense by Tim Jankovich Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Tim Jankovich (Rental)-3-2 Zone Defense $15.99
Following the constant-changing trends in the game of basket ball, coaches and teams are developing new strategies every passing year and one of the most popular of these strategies in recent games is the use of the ball screen in nearly every offensive set. The ball screen kicks off dribble penetration to the middle of the floor but it is a difficult technique to defend since it requires excellent communication, quick decision-making and exceptional effort to bring about success. Working with on-court players, Tim Jankovich will move you through the fundamentals of the 3-2 zone defense; a defense designed to negate dribble penetration by shoring up the middle of the paint and forcing passes to be made to the wings and corners. Coach Jankovich outlined every aspect of the 3-2 zone, starting with the qualities required of a team wishing to adopt this defensive approach. By the end of this course, you would have learned the secrets of the 3-2 zone defense and different ways to make the most use of it. Front Line: Coach Jankovich positioned the three defenders along the front line of the zone and pointed the responsibilities and rotational patterns of each defender depending on the positions of the ball. Jankovich also discussed the "accordion effect", and illustrated other ways by which front three must interact with each other so as to shut down dribble penetration. You are going to find out the number one responsibility of the middle-man and how to efficiently defend the high post. Back Line: Coach Jankovich aligned the back line and also discussed the "connected by a string" analogy as it concerns the two post defenders. He demonstrated the three approaches for crafting havoc once the ball enters the low post, and the benefit of the "sprint in faster than sprint out" ideology as it affects the defensive corner close-outs. Special Situations: Understand the different easy alignments usable by an offense while attacking the zone and different ways of putting up a defense. He also touched all the divers’ offensive schemes which include: the strong side overload, baseline runner, and all those designed to target corner 3-point attempts in the this DVD. The defensive tactics demonstrated in the lesson are Corner traps (with a weak-side "Flyer") and denying the ball reversal out of the corner. The defensive counter to a 2-guard offensive attack was also touched by showcasing an all-out trap at half court with all five members of the zone sprinting to their designated coverage areas. Follow this lesson to the end and learn the 3-2 zone defense which is one of the toughest defenses that your opponents will face with its ability to shut down dribble penetration, force outside jump shots, and guard against easy looks into the post. With that, you will be able to implement the 3-2 half-court zone defense this season and stifle the opposition's game plan!
