- The numbers rebounding drill will help you improve your team's rebounding.
Use 14 of Ben JacobsonÕs most effective offensive and defensive drills to improve your basketball skills.
SHOOTING AND SCREENING:
He shares some of the team's most effective shooting drills. He incorporates his motion offense screening actions to get his teammates to communicate, read screens, and work on screening while taking shots. The 3-man drills allow the players to get two shots from each screening action, including the elbow screen and diagonal down screen. Coach Jacobson shows his screening philosophy and the options available to his players after reading the defense.
The layup drill is a 2-minute drill that focuses on conditioning and passing.
DEFENSE:
Jacobson discusses his defensive philosophy in the defensive drills segment. It is 80 percent Pack Line defense and 20 percent ball-denial-push baseline.
He walks you through the alley drill. This is where you can practice defending the ball and controlling the dribble.
He then moves into the 3-on-3 defensive drill that his teams practice every day. He focuses on the help position early and protecting the gap from dribble penetration. This drill helps him to develop his defensive fundamentals such as angle of approach, closeouts and guarding the dribble. Your players should be able to defend in any situation and the offense must play to a set defense whenever possible.
REBOUNDING:
Jacobson demonstrates how to ride with your opponent away from the basket in Jacobson's numbers rebounding drill. This will allow you to make space for a "clean" rebound.
His defensive disadvantage drill, which combines all the basics learned earlier in a scramble situation, concludes the session.
This collection of drills and ideas will help you improve your practice this season.
