The Syracuse staff will first work on building the famous Syracuse 2-3 Zone along with the two defenders that will be learning how to play the top of the zone against numerous challenging situations. This will really help you in improving your overall performance on the court. You will also see a 2-on-2, 3-on-3 and 4-on-4 drills and these drills are taught because they are very helpful in teaching you the man-to-man principles that will eventually help make the Syracuse zone defense very powerful and dominating. A controlled 5-on-5 full court scrimmage will be result after the end of learning the man-to-man principles. In the 5-on-5 full court scrimmage both squads are exposed to a variety of half-court and full-court defenses.

Expose players to physical contact in rebounding and shooting to produce game-ready skills Teach fundamental close-outs and defensive rotations in competitive 2-on-2, 3-on-3, and 4-on-4 drills Get two quick hitters to use against man-to-man defense
In order to understand the defensive rotations on the weak side against ball side penetration and fighting down screens, these practices and drills will really help you a lot. There will also be a progression related to the defensive aspect of your game. This will focus on the back row of the zone with proper close-out technique and also the correct rotation in 2-on-2, 3-on-3 and the 4-on-4 match-ups.

This is basically related to answering the questions regarding the 2-3zone, player development, how the practice will be evolving overtime and some motivational talk as well. All this is very unique yet helpful and the coaching staff has done a tremendous job here as you will get a clear picture of what you are doing. While being on the court, the guards will focus on the defensive tactics and on the other hand the post players will be working on developing their offensive and defensive skills. This session will also work on defending in the 2-3 zone versus high screen, that is very important to ensure the success of the Syracuse zone. The coach Boeheim has done a great job all round and you will learn lots of key things with all these practices and drills.
