Sherri Coale: 20 Individual and Team Basketball Drills
If you want to develop the skills of your players, it takes work. Former University of Oklahoma women’s basketball coach Sherri Coale shows you 20 proven individual development drills that will train the skills your team needs to be successful. Throughout the entire presentation, Coale provides coaching points and what to look for as your players work through the drills.
Individual Perimeter Drills
Coale offers up a number of drills to help your perimeter players improve. It starts with Stationary Ball Handling drills where players develop confidence and finger control with one- and two-ball drills. Footwork and fakes are improved with the 3 Singles Drill and players work on cutting in the 2-Ball Waggle Drill.
Individual Post Drills
Post players must be able to catch the ball and Coale has them work on three drills from her “hands package.” These help players develop hand targets as well as work on passing and catching in the post. Footwork and post moves are learned in the 3 Singles Drill and Coale also shows you a catch and pass opposite drill to work on post passing and protecting the ball.
Basketball Team Drills
Coale uses a number of drills to build timing in her half-court offense. You can do the same with the X Drill which will improve your post feeds. All players – guards and bigs – work on the low block. This series of drills includes X Passing, X Passing with Defenders, Inverted X, and Inverted X with Defenders.
Basketball Shooting Drills
Teams should always be working to improve their shooting and Coale shows you six shooting drills to do just that. The drills focus on back cut shooting, feeding and cutting, relocating and rebounding long misses and getting put backs. There is also a five sequence shooting drill.
Using these drills, Coale won over 500 games at Oklahoma and took the Sooners to back-to-back Final Fours in 2009 and 2010. Use the same drills to spark your program to success! Rent this basketball drills DVD today.
