Eastern Michigan University Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach;
former Texas-San Antonio Defensive Coordinator,
2007 American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division III Assistant Coach Of The Year (Wabash College).
Pressure the quarterback and stop the run! The Neal Neathery's 4-2-2-5 defense will keep your best players on the field, and they will be swarming to catch the ball in any situation.
The 4-2-5 defense is explained in detail by Coach Neathery. He shares his philosophy, defensive principles, practice organization ideas, individual training periods and gives an overview of the 4-2-5 systems and their goals.
After extensive research, Coach Neathery created his defense by visiting other programs like TCU and North Dakota State who have successfully implemented the 4-2-4-5. Neathery's defensive strategy has been consistently in the Top 5 nationally in many defensive categories. He has taken the best ideas of other programs and added his own twists.
Neathery provides seven categories of personnel to help you get the right players into the right positions. Each player will be given a specific assignment. This will allow you to see the characteristics your players must have in order to succeed in the position.
Neathery shares his base pass coverage for the 4-2-5: quarters coverage. You will always have a advantage of 3-2 to the wide side of field with the 4-2-5 pass coverage. He then shows you the three main coverage assignments for the 4-2-5 pro formation: Fox, Duo, and Buzz. He walks you through a film session, showing you examples of game footage and how they align to cover twins formation or an open formation.
Do you want to improve your run defense? Neathery walks you through a film session that shows his base defense against the run as well as diagramming the personnel assignments for specific run plays. He demonstrates how to defend power, twins and open formations as well as shotguns and twins in reverse.
Neathery's 4-2-5 Defence: Run Defense and Linebacker Drills provides more detail on pass and run coverage.
This DVD will help your team run faster, create turnovers, and defeat blocks using one of the most popular defenses in football.
