Al Golden, University of Miami's Head football coach, has more than 20 years of experience in college coaching. In his latest DVD, he shares the most efficient play action pass concepts, protections and ways to attack different defensive coverages.

As a former defensive coordinator, Coach Golden has a unique perspective on play action. He discusses the details of the Hurricanes' run blocking strategies, play action pass protections, as well as the many route combinations. In a short introduction, he discusses 5-6 run strategies. He focuses on introducing the topic, and not going into too much detail.

This is because the main purpose of this video is to show the play action of these runs. However, you must know the basic run schemes. Then he explains in great detail how to play the passing game that is part of the run scheme at Miami. These schemes can be one- or two back sets and can mimic a variety formations.

Inside zone:Coach Golden discusses the importance of simplifying terminology to facilitate a smooth transition from base running plays and play action concepts. He explains the details of the 2-back in-line zone and how play action protection is applied to it. Coach continues to discuss the 1-back inside area and offers route combinations that can defeat any type of coverage.
