Point Guard Shooting Drills - Off Ball Screens

In this drill, you're going to learn how to use a screen to get by your defender. The most important part about this drill is for you to use your screen so that your defender is not able to get through it. To do this you need to come off the screen as close as possible. Continue going back and forth from wing to wing, working on using your screen, and your shot.

In this drill, you start at the jump circle in half-court and have a dummy defender (chair, cone, etc.) set up at the elbow. Start by dribbling to the right wing then get your body in position to attack the chair.

Using your left hand dribble to attack the chair as a screen. You want to get by the chair as close as possible.

After you get by your defender with the screen, pull up in the lane for a jump shot.

Next, go to the left side setting up to use your screen near the elbow area.

Use your right hand to dribble to use your screen and get by your defender.

After you get by your defender with the screen, pull up in the lane for a jump shot.

Continue going back and forth from wing to wing, working on using your screen, and your shot.
