Greg Kampe
(Rental)-Modernized Pack Line Defense & The 2-3 Zone
$17.99
Open Practice: Modernized Pack Line Defense and the 2-3 Zone
Many would not know that Oakland University’s Greg Kampe is the third-longest tenured head coach in Division I men’s basketball. With over 500 wins, Kampe has earned the respect of his peers and he is well-known for his up-tempo style of play. It is that style that has helped form his philosophy of defense, which is what he presents in this video. He shows you how he has molded the modern Pack Line defense with a the 2-3 zone to create an ideal defense built for success.
Building the Pack Line with Breakdown Drills
Coach Kampe teaches the Pack Line using variations of the Shell Drill. Players learn proper positioning so that the on-ball defender is always supported by help defenders. Players are also taught how to chase shooters off down screens and how to defend screen aways or cross screens. Coach Kampe uses these three shell drill variations.
4-on-4 Must Dribble Drill: Defenders must pressure the ball, force the ball to the middle and provide help as the defense is continuously bombarded by dribble penetration.
4-on-3 Drill: Defenders learn to communicate as they sprint to fill gaps against an offense that has a man advantage.
3-on-3 8-Pass Restriction Drill: The offense can run any action at the defense but can only pass eight times. Defenders learn how to position properly, communicate with one another, and fight through screens.
Post Defense
Oakland’s help defense is based upon the shooting ability of the players on the floor. Coach Kampe demonstrates two drills to work on defending the post. The 4-on-4 Post Touch Drill focuses on denying the entry pass to the post while perimeter players help based on shooting ability. The 4-on-4 Close Out Drill is an Oakland staple and is the perfect way to prepare for the most common plays an opponent will run at your defense.
2-3 Zone Defense
Coach Kampe teaches the responsibilities for each player in the 2-3 zone. Players are to be active and apply ball pressure at all times in Kampe’s version of the 2-3. You will see how his players are taught to “bump” defenders when the ball is on the side. He also reviews different ways to defend the high post.
O-D-O Scrimmage
This full-court drill is done at game speed so that players get used to making quick decisions based on a shot attempt. You will see how Oakland’s defense flows from the 2-2-1 press to the 2-3 zone based on a shot attempt. This drill, as well as the rest of the video, gives you exactly what you need to combine the Pack Line defense with the 2-3 zone.

Mike Nienaber
(Rental)-Installing The Princeton Offense
$19.99
Installing the Princeton Offense
Known as one of the top Princeton offense coaches in the nation, Delta State’s Mike Neinaber teaches you the ins and outs of the offense in this video. Neinaber spent 20 seasons at Christian Brothers University in Memphis where he won two Gulf South Conference titles, made five trips to the NCAA Division II tournament, and took his 2009 team to the Elite Eight. One of the biggest reasons for his teams’ successes has been the Princeton offense.
The presentation begins with a demonstration of the warmup that prepares players for every scoring angle and option within the offense. The warmup includes full speed, game-like layups that simulate the backdoor cuts within the Princeton offense.
Coach Neinaber explains the Four-Minute Drill which prepares players for the array of 3-point shots that the Princeton offense offers. Next are the Five-Up drills which put players through the essential moves used within the Princeton offense: backdoor cuts, dribble handoffs, and back screens. In each drill, players learn to read defenders and create scoring opportunities out of a back cut, post move, or screening action.
Once players have mastered every option, Coach Neinaber moves into a 5-on-5 four-minute drill to show you how the offense will look. Players run through the offense in a full-court setting and Neinaber explains each move, screen, and set as it happens on the floor so you know what it should look like in a game situation.
With an understanding of how the offense looks in a 5-on-5 setting, Coach Neinaber uses 5-on-0 demonstrations to show you each teaching progression. He goes through five different looks in the offense – Low, Five Up, Elbow, High, and Chin. Each look has at least three different scoring options and can easily flow into another set.
Coach Neinaber explains each set and motion then runs through the motion with the team on the floor. He slows the pace enough so you can understand where the scoring options should occur and how to teach them to your players.
This presentation is outstanding. Coach Neinaber takes a complex offensive system and breaks it down into steps that are easy to understand and install. Coaches looking for an offensive system that keeps defenses guessing can turn to Coach Neinaber for the Princeton offense.
John Calipari
(Rental)-John Calipari: The Definitive Dribble Drive Motion Offense
$19.99
Isolate your best shooter for more open shots
You can create penetration by adding a driving lane to your basket
Space is a good way to distort your defense
With his Dribble Drive Offense, Coach Calipari took the nation by storm. Calipari breaks down this attack into four parts in this instructional basketball video. Each component is expertly woven together to create an efficient, well-organized offense that scores high.
The dribble drive is unconventional in its design. It moves the ball to the opposite end of the low post player, anchoring it on the side with a great shot. This feature opens up the floor to create driving angles from different areas. Calipari explains the ways that downhill drive, pitch, relocation and kickback features can create more scoring opportunities.
These four components are described in an easy-to-understand manner that coaches of all levels can use to effectively implement the dribble offense. The second penetration is just as dangerous as the first and each one breaks down defenders. You can balance your team's scoring by giving both perimeter and post players equal chances to succeed.

George Barber
(Rental)-George Barber's The System for Basketball
$22.99
George Barber Basketball System
Create More Possessions, Score More Points In the 2018-19 season, Dr. George Barbers Greenville University basketball team set the NCAA Division III record for scoring offense when it averaged 135.1 points per game. Greenville also led the nation in a number of offensive categories. In this video, you will learn Barbers System and how its fast-paced style of play has helped his teams consistently rank in the top five in college basketball (all divisions). Coach Barber details his system in this video using whiteboard diagrams as well as on-court demonstrations in an actual practice setting. Beginning with his philosophy, Coach Barber shares with you his system of offense, defense, and how to plan practices to succeed. Offense The offense is predicated on getting a shot off within 12 seconds. Once the shot is off, Barber preaches a smothering defense designed to get the ball back as quickly as possible. When an opponent scores, players are taught a three-step method for getting the ball out of the rim and getting up the floor in transition. Players are also taught to get to certain spots on the floor and get into the offense as soon as possible. Barbers offense can easily be combined with any other offense like the dribble-drive or read and react. Defense In Barbers style of play, after every made basket players immediately get into attack mode on defense. Coach Barber likes to use a variety of trapping full-court presses, which help to force opponents to speed up. It also makes them uncomfortable. The same is true in the half-court where Barber likes to trap all over the floor. By forcing the ball to a side, opponents set themselves up for the trap and fall into exactly what Barber wants. Practice Planning The System is played at a frenetic pace with 12 to 15 players getting quality minutes throughout the course of a game. Practices have to be designed to prepare those 12 to 15 players for what is to come on game day. Barber has his players engaged in some form of shooting drills for at least 30 minutes each day. Every drill is designed so that players get as many reps as possible in a short amount of time. This simulates game pace. Players will spend another 30 to 40 minutes on defense in practice. They must learn to trap, rotate, and continually put pressure on opponents. If you are looking to build your program around a philosophy that lives on fast-paced offense and pressure defense, Coach Barber has exactly what you need! Nate Oats
(Rental)-Gap Man to Man Defense in Basketball
$18.99
Gap Defense Basketball
Nate Oats has been successful everywhere he has been. Most recently, Oats won back-to-back MAC championships and Coach of the Year Awards in taking the University of Buffalo to the NCAA tournament’s Round of 32. Now the head coach at Alabama, Oats looks to continue his success as one of the game’s best at getting his programs to compete at a high level year after year.
Oats’ belief in his gap man-to-man defense forces opponents to take rushed and contested shots. What you will see in this video are a number of drills designed to help players understand “being in the gap” and how to produce lockdown defenses season after season.
Build Up Drills for Gap Defense
Oats starts practice with a 1-on-1 open court defensive drill where players learn to “guard their yard.” This simple idea is a key to Oats gap defense. Players work to get stops and earn points for their teams. Defenders are dropped into the lane line and must work to keep their opponent in front of them. This helps set the tone for practice.
Eventually, more players are added to the drill creating a full-court 3-on-3 situation. Players defend the ball when they’re on it and others are help defenders that must maintain their gaps and take away easy passes and deny transition 3-point attempts.
Ball Screen Defense
Defending the ball screen offense is paramount in today’s modern game. Oats presents a series of drills that build the foundation for his teams in defending ball screens. In 4-on-4 and 5-on-5 half-court situations, players learn proper rotations and how to defend ball handlers who are trying to get to the paint.
You will also see a super competitive 2-on-2 drill where players break out and compete at different baskets around the gym. Players try to get stops on defense and earn points. At the end, the teams with the most points on offense and defense are the winners.
Scramble and Full Court Defense
The 5-on-4 Scramble Drill starts in the half court where the defense must deny the offense an easy basket within 10 seconds. The defense then transitions to offense making for a great two-way drill where you can teach on both defense and offense. Defenders must continually try to keep their opponents in front of them and get back into help position.
The video concludes with a 5-on-5 segment. It is live game action playing to a certain point total. Players must focus on getting stops on defense and pushing the ball in transition. This is just one of many ways that Coach Oats creates competition in practice. Each drill has a purpose, a focus, and an emphasis on being in gaps to prevent easy scores. If you are looking to change the way you play defense, this 73-minute video is for you. Rent this gap defense for basketball DVD today.
Mike Rhoades
(Rental)-Full Court Pressure Defense System With Breakdown Drills
$18.99
Full Court Press VCU Style
Virginia Commonwealth basketball has long been synonymous with up-tempo offense and full-court pressure defense that creates much of the Rams’ offense. In this video, VCU head coach Mike Rhoades, who served as an assistant under Shaka Smart, breaks down his high-pressure defense. You will learn the three different pressure defenses as well as the drills that are used to teach each one.
Fist Press
Rhoades’ pressure defense all starts with the implementation of Fist. The rules of the press are broken down here as well as the responsibilities of each individual player. You will see how simple it is to create pressure on the ball while maintaining positioning between the ball handler and the basket.
Three-on-three stunting is learned to help your players understand how to jump to the ball and jump back all while seeing both the ball and the man. Rhoades demonstrates the importance of communication in the Fist as well as Double Fist and Diamond.
Double Fist Full Court Press
The Double Fist is used by Rhoades and VCU to surprise opponents. It is a trapping defense unique in that it is not necessarily trying to force turnovers right away, but to force opponents into turnover situations later in games.
Players will learn when to trap and how through a series of drills which are explained by Coach Rhoades. The core of Double Fist starts with the 2-on-1 Corral where players learn to speed up ball handlers and force them to the sideline. The drills progress to a 2-on-3 Corral, a 3-on-3 Trap, and a 4-on-4 Trap Interceptor. Each is explained so that you can teach your players the Double Fist.
Diamond Full Court Press
The final variation of a press used by Rhoades, the Diamond Press is not the typical Diamond that many other programs utilize. Rhoades’ Diamond Press is not about forcing opponents into corners and forcing traps. Coach Rhoades explains how he likes and uses stunts to force opponents out of the middle of the floor and closer to a sideline. It is there where Rhoades’ defense can dictate to the offense.
You will learn the nuances of the 4-on-4 drill where players learn to rotate out of a trap and have better opportunities to intercept passes. Coach Rhoades explains Fist, Double Fist, and Diamond as well as the drills used to teach them. For coaches who use full-court pressure or those looking to integrate it into their system, Coach Rhoades’ video is a must-have.

Avery Johnson
(Rental)-Get To The Altar Building Your Help & Recover Defensive System
$18.99
“Get to the Altar” – Building Your Help & Recover Defensive System
Avery Johnson made an NBA career out of being one of the best defensive point guards of his time. He has taken that same mentality in his coaching career and has served as the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, Brooklyn Nets, and most recently the University of Alabama. In this video, Johnson discusses playing great help defense regardless of players’ skill level or coaching level. You will learn about “getting to the altar” and hear the Johnson’s famous quote, “If you’re not in help position, you’re in the wrong position.”
Basic Help Defense
To understand help defense, Johnson explains the “altar” which is a player on help defense in the middle of the paint. A player will always be in the altar. If the middle player leaves to cut off the baseline, a player will replace him. The defense remains active at all times taking away penetration and forcing jump shots when it correctly rotates.
Coach Johnson addresses the basics of help defense working from a base 4-Out 1-In set covering:
Close outs
Defending cuts
Screen defender’s position
Weak side defender roles
Passes that must be taken away
Direction to force the ball handler
How to deal with a pass made to a screener after they roll to the basket
Pick & Roll Situations & Coverages
Because teams now face stretch 4s and 5s, players must be able to defend the roll and the shot off the screen. Players learn how to defend various pick and roll situations all while being able to defend the altar. Johnson shows players how to help and recover.
Post Defense
Teams must be able to adjust and defend a strong post player in man-to-man defense. To guard that type of player, Johnson covers the following:
How the defender denies the post
How to deal with teams that have great shooters in addition to the strong post
How to double the post and rotate out of it
Special Situations
Coach Johnson uses on-court demonstrations to review rotations within your help defense. He will show you certain scenarios including trapping in different areas of the floor. Cutters are always covered and Johnson preaches more of a gap concept to make sure middle penetration is taken away. Rotations are geared toward making teams shoot jump shots.
Johnson covers a number of scenarios such as defending floppy action, ball pressure, staggered screens, and much more. This is a great video for any coach looking to improve his team’s help defense.

Secondary Break
When the primary break offers no options, Giovanine helps you flow right into the secondary break. You will see a number of dribble drives and cuts off post feeds as well as entry passes to the post for quick scoring opportunities. One of the keys in the secondary break is spacing and Giovanine teaches players how to do so properly especially off of dribble penetration.
Continuity Offense
When the primary and secondary breaks yield no quick scoring opportunities, Coach Giovanine shows you two of Augustana’s continuity offensive sets. He presents two drills – 5-on-0 and Circle the Wagons – to show you how to get right into the Wide and Ball Screen continuity offenses.

Drive and Kick Basketball Drills
4 Out Motion Offense & Drills
Looking to force the hand of an opposing defense? UMBC head coach Ryan Odom can help you do so. If you don’t recognize Odom’s name, it was his UMBC team that became the first-ever No. 16 seed to beat a No. 1 seed (Virginia) in the 2018 NCAA tournament. Odom led his program to a 25-11 overall record – a school record for wins – and the America East Conference Tournament championship.
Odom favors an up-tempo style of play that forces defenses into situations they do not prefer. Just ask Virginia, which is perennially one of the best defensive teams in the country. In this drive and kick basketball drills video, Odom gives you an inside look at his motion offense and the drills he uses to teach it.
Drive and Kick Basketball Drills to Score
Coach Odom begins his practices with a passing drill to get his players moving and warmed up for the day. You’ll see something Odom calls “freelance ball handling” in which he gives his players the freedom to create as they learn to handle the basketball.
With players loose and ready to go, they transition into half-court offense. Two-Man Ball Screens is a drill where your players learn to work together. They learn to read defenses and react accordingly to create scoring chances.
Coach Odom will teach the side ball, angle ball, and middle ball screens as well as how to clip or fake the ball screen. All of these drills are great for helping players transition into motion offense shooting. Coach Odom reviews his UMBC Shooting Series where players get up game shots after learning how to get open using V-cuts, the drive and kick, and the flip back pass.
Motion Offense
Coach Odom begins the teaching of the Motion offense with the fast break that has been so successful for his UMBC teams. Players are taught to hunt for their shot within the first 7-10 seconds of the possession. This applies immense pressure to a defense.
The keys to getting a good shot in transition are making sure there is a quick outlet pass, being creative in getting to the paint, and searching for open layups and 3-point shots. You will see Odom’s 12-second drill which emphasizes the fast break. You will learn how to use drag screens, double drag screens, and more in an effort to create scoring opportunities.
This 139-minute video reveals to you a fast-paced style of play that has created havoc for some of the best defensive teams in college basketball. Use it to do the same in your program. Rent this drive and kick basketball drills DVD today.
Dwane Casey
(Rental)-Essential Drills For Building A Championship Defense
$17.99
Basketball Defense Drills for Building a Championship Defense
Transition and half-court defenses can make a big difference in the win-loss column. In this video from Detroit Pistons head coach Dwane Casey, you will learn how to build the type of defense that is feared among opponents. As an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, it was Casey who designed the defense that helped the Mavericks win an NBA title. Casey’s teams in Toronto were always among the best defenses in the league.
In this clinic session, you have the opportunity to learn the defensive system that turned the Raptors franchise around. Casey takes you through the intimate details of his transition and half-court defense, which includes a look at many of the practice drills he uses to train players.
Warm Up Basketball Defense Drills
The close out is fundamental to excelling in Casey’s system. With a philosophy of “flooding the lane,” it is imperative players master the close out. Casey will present two drills that he uses as a defensive warm up that help develop closing out. The idea of using defensive actions as warm-up drills also emphasizes the importance of defense and helps to develop a team’s defensive mindset.
Transition Defense Philosophy
Great defense begins in transition. Coach Casey breaks down how his transition defense shuts down opponents’ fast break opportunities. It begins at the moment the shot is in the air. Players must understand their roles, how to communicate, how to load up to the basketball, and where to influence the ball in transition.
Practice Drills
Coach Casey then uses a number of on-court demonstrations to break down a series of drills that simulate game situations and teach the critical aspects of the his defensive system. The Closeout Drill progresses from the simple technique to boxing out on rebounds, running shooters off the 3-point line, and how to “X-Rotate” out to shooters on high ball screens.
In the Shell Drill, players learn to cut off the baseline drive while helping the helper with the crack down player. This drill helps to eliminate easy scoring opportunities that are created when defenders help on dribble penetration.
Players learn to defend the high post, shut down cutters in the paint, and beat dribble hand-offs in the Flash Drill. The Flooding the Lane Drill teaches players the mentality of sending off-ball defenders into the paint for help. The final drill is 5-on-5 Defense which reviews low post defense, denying post feeds, and how to defend cutters when the ball is in the post.
There is also a Q&A session where Coach Casey addresses a number of other defensive concepts like moving on the flight of the ball, defending the corner shooter, and how to defend middle ball screens. The 72-minute video is outstanding look inside the mind of one of the NBA’s brightest defensive gurus. Rent this basketball defense drills DVD today.
Mike Dunlap
(Rental)-Encyclopedia Of The 1--1--3 Match--up Zone Defense (dunlap)
$15.99
Mike Dunlap has had an incredibly successful coaching career and much of it is due to his knowledge of defense. He has compiled everything he has learned from some of the most famous 1-1-3 defenses to create his own pressure defense. He goes into incredible detail on how to coach and implement this defense into your program. This is an amazing opportunity for you to drastically improve your teams defense by causing confusion and forcing turnovers.
Five Trademarks of the 1-1-3
Coach Dunlap introduces and goes into amazing detail of his five trademarks of the 1-1-3 defense: stance, hands, jumping to the ball, communication, and rebounding. Within each trademark is a common theme of extreme ball pressure. Each drill is designed to teach the player how to make the ball handler uncomfortable to taking away his air space. These drills and teaching points are also very applicable to your man-to-man defense as they are based in individual player fundamentals.
Coach Dunlap introduces the first three trademarks as a way to properly defend the ball. He teaches players to trace the line of the ball with active hands and proper footwork to force the ball handler where you want them to go. He also teaches active hands to keep good shooters uncomfortable by keeping the hand in line with the ball. The goal of jumping to the ball is to keep proper defensive spacing and extreme ball pressure. This is a difficult habit to en grain but Dunlap shows tremendous drills that will have your players working as one unit with pressure all over the court.
Perhaps the two most important trademarks of the 1-1-3 zone defense is communication and defense. Without these two skills nothing else matters. Dunlap shows a tremendous teaching technique to help your players communicate using shot one-word phrases. Dunlap does a great job of teaching how to rebound out of a zone that you can use with any of your zone defenses. He stresses putting players into proper positions, solidifying the weak side and creating a triangle around the rim, along with being able to anticipate misses by playing percentages.
Technical Skills
Having a fundamental knowledge of the 1-1-3 match up zone is not enough. Dunlap also goes into great detail into the more overlooked, technical aspects of playing this defense. These include but are not limited to long and short close outs, footwork, cheat steps, and understanding how to force the offensive ball handler into difficult situations.
Break the rhythm of any defense using this ball hawking, pressure 1-1-3 defense by renting this DVD today.
