25 Late Game Plays Basketball Video
During the course of a season, coaches and players are put into numerous late-game situations where they must go the length of the floor and score. In this video, Austin McBeth, lead trainer for Smart Basketball Training and University of Illinois-Springfield assistant, gives you 25 different plays to help teams break pressure, score in late-game situations, and score on full-court inbound plays. Coach McBeth uses computer-generated diagrams for each play and then demonstrates them on the court.
Plays vs. Full-Court Pressure
You will see several plays that allow you the chance to break a full-court press and convert on the other end when you are in a must-score situation. Most of the plays presented are run from the same look as a typical full-court press break. From a variety of alignments, you can then disguise your typical press offense alignments with these full-court press break plays. The plays offer the opportunity for a long pass and layup as well as safer passes closer to the inbounder. McBeth also shows you plays when the inbounder has the freedom to run the baseline.
Late-Game Full-Court Scoring Plays
There will come a time when you need a full-court play late in a game. In this segment, you will see McBeth demonstrate several plays for this situation. Each play serves two purposes: 1) getting the ball up the floor quickly and 2) setting up your best players for scoring opportunities.
Whether it’s a quick two-pointer or a long-range 3-point shot, these plays are designed to give you a chance to stay in a game when you are behind and time is an issue. You will also see a play that will advance the ball to half court where you can call a quick time out and then use a sideline inbound play.
End-of-Game Full-Court Scoring Plays
Just like Christian Laettner’s famous full-court buzzer-beater against Kentucky in the 1992 NCAA tournament, Coach McBeth presents a number of plays that allow you to break full-court pressure and convert to force overtime or grab a victory. Each play allows you the opportunity to get a basket when your team needs it most.
Coach McBeth gives you everything you need to be prepared for late-game situations. These end-of-game situations could be the difference between continuing in postseason play or going home early. Rent this late game plays basketball DVD today.

Mike Boynton
(Rental)-Early Shot Clock Offense & Side Out Specials
$18.99
Quick Offense Basketball - Early Shot Clock Offense and Side Out Specials
Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton Jr. shows you how to exploit man-to-man defenses with an efficient secondary break in this quick offense basketball video. He demonstrates his team’s attack in this on-court presentation and shows you how it can take advantage of your ever-changing personnel. Coach Boynton played collegiately at South Carolina and then served as an assistant under Brad Underwood at Stephen F. Austin and Oklahoma State. In 2018, Boynton led the Cowboys to four wins over top-10 teams.
Transition Offense
Coach Boynton starts his quick offense basketball presentation talking about how he learned to play in transition from high school through college. The traditional secondary break alignment that features a rim runner with two wings and a trailer was something that did not fit Coach Boynton’s personnel when he was at Oklahoma State as both an assistant and a head coach.
Boynton then made adjustments to his transition game by taking advantage of what his players did best. Three players and the trailer are basically interchangeable and can fill any of the three perimeter slots. Without a rim runner, the floor is opened up and the point guard has more freedom to attack and probe. The primary action Coach Boynton uses is called “Quick One” which is a drag ball screen play for the point guard if the rim cannot be attacked.
Quick Variations
There are ways to get other players involved with actions similar to Quick One. For example, Quick Two is a play where the wing gets involved and uses a ball screen. The wing can receive a dribble hand-off from the point guard and come off the ball screen set by the trailer.
Quick Four has the trailer and the wing that isn’t in the corner set a double ball screen for the point guard. The trailer rolls to the rim and the wing pops out for a potential 3-point shot. The offense then has the ability to get a post-up or a jump shot from the wing that popped out. You will also see Quick Four Flip, a variation of Quick Four which is used against defenses that like to switch.
Pistol
One action that is becoming more popular is the Pistol. It is perfect for late-game situations because it leads to drives to the basket and open 3-point looks. Coach Boynton includes a few counters to the original Pistol action that you can use if the initial hand-of is not available. Pistol Empty takes advantage of teams that try to anticipate hand-offs. The wing gets a flare screen from the trailer without setting up for a pass from the point or a step-up ball screen.
Coach Boynton packs his presentation full of quick strike actions. It is one of the most important aspects of becoming a good transition team and you will see how you can use the actions taught to score quickly against man-to-man defenses. Rent this quick offense basketball DVD today.
Greg McDermott

Special Situations & Offensive Sets
Basketball Offense Plays with Coach McDermott. He is one of the most respected basketball coaches in the country. Greg McDermott has taken Creighton to three Missouri Valley Conference tournament championships and five NCAA tournament berths in his eight seasons. In this video, Coach McDermott provides a wealth of knowledge that includes 23 plays, additional counters, out of bounds plays for the baseline and sideline, and three transition defense drills that will help you control the tempo of games.
Using on-court instruction, Coach McDermott shares with you a number of ways to create scoring attempts for the offense as well as how to improve in transition defense, which McDermott believes is paramount to winning basketball games.
Transition Defense Drills
A firm believer in taking away easy scoring opportunities in transition, McDermott sets up three transition defense drills that he uses with his players. Each drill emphasizes stopping the ball, loading the ball side, communication, and weak side flow. All three drills end with the defense converting to offense and working to get a score. McDermott likes his drills to be as game-like as possible.
5-on-3 Transition: The offense is forced to get a shot off quickly since McDermott uses a 12-second shot clock. Communication is emphasized in this drill.
5-on-4 Transition: For teams that do not send their 1- and 2-guards to the boards, this is the perfect simulation. The focus is on double-teaming or pinching out during the box out.
Circle Transition: The drill creates confusion which forces defenders to communicate effectively.
Quick-Hitters Versus Zone
Basketball Offense plays to score against a zone defense. Coach McDermott offers up seven quick-hitting plays to use against the 2-3 zone. The plays contain a number of options like those for getting a specific player open. Need a 3-point shot from the top of the circle? A shot from corner? McDermott shows you how to get the ball into the low post, high post, and more. Some plays build on others and have the same actions and movements. That helps to disguise the true intent of several of the plays. Coach also covers ball movement, player movement, screens, timing, and how to seal as they relate to these quick-hitters.
Out of Bounds and Late Game Plays
In any game, a number of special situations can arise. McDermott takes you through a series of these situations with a variety of set plays.
Baseline Out of Bounds: Here, you will see three plays to get easy looks at the basket. Each features options as well, including the lob.
Sideline Out of Bounds: McDermott reviews four sideline out of bounds plays that can create easy shots or create mismatches. Plays include slips, elevator screens, and 3-point shots that can all be used in late-game situations as well.
Late Game Plays for a 3-pointer: Three plays are demonstrated here that can be used when your team needs a late 3-pointer whether after a time out or on the fly.
You also get Coach McDermott’s thoughts on the standard Shell Drill with a couple tweaks that he likes to employ. This helps him review all of his defensive actions in five minutes. This video is full of outstanding information that helps your program succeed on both ends of the floor. Rent this basketball offense plays DVD today.
Dwane Casey

$18.99
Dwane Casey: Special Situations & Set Plays
Coaches will face numerous special situations throughout the course of a season. From end-of-half and end-of-game situations to the sideline out of bounds play, coaches must be prepared. Dwane Casey, head coach of the NBAs Detroit Pistons, teaches you over 10 set plays that have proven successful at the highest level of the game.
Coach Casey was the head coach of the Toronto Raptors before moving on to Detroit. He is the winningest coach in Raptors history and has an NBA title under his belt as an assistant with Dallas (2011). In this on-court presentation, Casey shows you the spacing and timing needed to get your shooters quality looks and how to counter anything a defense gives you to get a shot when you most need it.
Sideline Out-of-Bounds Plays
Casey presents five set plays each with multiple options to provide either a 2-point or 3-point shot attempt. Casey likes the inbounder to throw the entry pass with his weak hand to make sure that the play can work in any situation. He also teaches inbounders how to decoy players to draw attention away from the primary intention.
One of the plays was used by Toronto where players used a scissors action off a screener at the nail with the point guard starting in the backcourt. If needed, the ball can be inbounded to the backcourt. Three sideline plays are then demonstrated using back screens to catch a lob at the basket or a catch-and-shoot 3-pointer with little time left on the clock.
Endline Out-of-Bounds Plays
Coach Casey shows you how to break a press quickly when you have no timeouts left and then demonstrates five different plays from the baseline in a short-clock situation. He details the sequence of reads for players to get behind the 3-point arc using clean up (screen the screener) actions and flare screens.
Two of the plays use posts at the elbows. There are quick actions that can get them the ball diving to the basket in situations where less than a second remains on the clock. Coach Casey also provides detail on timing, angles of screens, counters, and footwork all to ensure you can execute his plays successfully.
For all of those special situations, Coach Casey provides you with several simple by effective plays that can help your players get shots in crucial situations.
Thom Sigel
(Rental)-Quick Hitters & Baseline Out Of Bounds Plays Vs. Zone Defense
$15.99
Quick Hitters and Baseline Out of Bounds Plays for Zone Offense
Thom Sigel has won two Illinois state championships and has over 300 career wins. In this video, he shares some of his quick hitters against 1-2-2 and 2-3 zone defenses. You will see how Coach Sigel does a great job of walking you through each play and all of its options.
Quick Hitters
Coach Sigel’s presentation starts by demonstrating the dribble entry options for his quick hitters. Each dribble entry uses the same starting action, which keeps the plays simple. It also disguises the secondary cuts players will make to get open.
The dribble entry options are great because they create scoring opportunities all over the floor. You can score on an elbow jump shot, a high post flasher, and more. Coach Sigel emphasizes spacing and timing to sell each option.
Then, Coach Sigel changes the look of his quick hitters by implementing his stack options. Using these stack options, you’ll see some great corner entries that create a number of great scoring chances. The first stack option is designed to score out of a low post look by pulling defenders away from the basket. Then, the point guard and wings attack the zone.
All of these quick hitters are sure to give any zone defense fits. You will see all plays executed against both a 2-3 and a 1-2-2 for clear understanding.
Baseline Out of Bounds
Coach Sigel then dives into a number of high percentage baseline out of bounds plays. There are numerous scoring opportunities in 4-Across and Box. If you don’t score within one or two passes, you can get right into a quick-hitting offensive play.
The presentation ends with a question and answer session that makes you think about how quick hitters fit into your zone offense philosophy. This a must-have DVD for coaches looking to maximize their zone offense.
Bruce Weber

Bruce Weber: Rebounding Drills & Last-Second Plays
Rebounding is crucial to winning basketball games. On the offensive end, rebounds give teams more opportunities to score. On the defensive end, good rebounding teams limit the number of opponent’s possessions. Kansas State head coach Bruce Weber shares with you nine practice drills that have helped his players become strong rebounders. Weber has enjoyed plenty of success winning a pair of Big 12 titles (2013, 2019) and taking his 2005 Illinois team to the national final. In addition to rebounding drills, Weber also introduces drills that improve passing, spacing, and end-of-game situations.
Warm Up Drills
Two drills are demonstrated as part of Weber’s warm up. The Step Off Passing drills teaches players how to get open for a pass, pivot through pressure, and make good passes to teammates. The Rope Action drills helps players understand how to maximize space and play off of dribble penetration.
Rebounding
Coach Weber demonstrates nine rebounding drills that range from 1-on-1 to full 5-on-5. These drills include:
1-on-1 Pad Rebounding: players learn to defeat a block out and grab an offensive rebound
3-on-3 Rotate: players are challenged to find a new player to block out
Scramble Rebound: players attempt to secure a rebound when outnumbered
Rush Rebound: non-stop, full-court drill that will test a team’s toughness
Weber also talks about how to block out opponents in free throw situations preventing them from stealing easy second chance points.
Last-Second Situations
The real secret to winning close games is practicing end-of-game situations. Teams that practice under pressure perform better when it comes to games. Weber explains two drills he uses to simulate pressure.
Perfect Finish: puts players in late-game situations where failure to execute results in a loss
30-Second Drill: challenges the defense to stop the opponent for an entire possession
Coach Weber includes five set inbound plays complete with options and counters. These are plays that can be used when your team needs a quick basket. Weber also discusses how he keeps score in his drills which creates competition.
If you are looking to upgrade your rebounding and improve in late-game situations, Coach Weber is one of the best. Add this video to your collection today!

Michael Peck
(Rental)-Special Situation Basketball
$15.99
Special Situations Basketball
Scoring in special situations such as on an out of bounds play can often be the difference between winning and losing. When two teams of equal talent meet, those special situations can be what makes or breaks a game. In this video, former Findlay Prep (NV) head coach Michael Peck offers up his toolbox of special situation plays to create scoring opportunities for his players.
Coach Peck, now a UTSA associate head coach, turned Findlay Prep into a national powerhouse with three national championships in five years and four NBA draft picks in a span of two years. He shows you his go-to plays in special situations.
Baseline Series
It all begins with the baseline out of bounds series. Coach Peck demonstrates four set plays that force opponents play their best defense to prevent an easy shot. Each play has a quick-hitter as well as multiple options off of it. Each option can hit the safety valve to get a shot for the in-bounder who is often the forgotten player on an inbounds play.
Coach Peck then gets into “Switch” which is a counter screening system that can be used with each of the four baseline plays. This little wrinkle gives opponents even more to think about as now your plays have a large number of options.
Sideline Series
Next are two sideline out of bounds plays. Needing a game-winner on this type of play comes along every so often and Coach Peck shows you two - Special and Short. Both plays present a lob opportunity as well as a shot off of a screen. Special is a misdirection play that also provides a chance for an easy layup game-winner.
Coach Peck is also a big believer in working on game situations and using the clock. You have to continually put players into these situations to prepare them. Whether down by two with 10 seconds to play or up by five with a minute to go, players that have practiced these situations are much better prepared to handle them for real.
The special situations basketball plays presented by Coach Peck could be the difference between winning a league, state, or even national title. Rent this special situations basketball plays DVD today.
