Description

This course covers contemporary trends in 400m training. A lot of what's covered here are my own personal thoughts and biases. There are also ideas I've gathered from other coaches I hold in high esteem. Consider this as an entry point to think in greater detail about all the aspects involved in developing higher level performances in the 400m, but much of what's expressed here could be applied to training for any speed/power event. With nearly 3 hours of content, 25 pages of notes with commentary on actual microcycles from this fall and last fall, and downloadable powerpoint with videos, it's my sincere hope you get a lot out of this purchase.1 Explanation of Topics 1:59 2 Introduction 3:41 3 Principles > Workouts 13:20 4 Topics Overview 13:12 5 What Happens in a Sprint Stride 16:29 6 Training a Sprint Stride 6:20 7 Balanced Approach 9:13 8 Polarized Microcycle Design 4:22 9 Progression > Periodization Pt. 1 11:40 10 Progression > Periodization Pt. 2 12:07 11 Example Week 4:04 12 Speed is Primary and Simplified Uses of Tempo 14:13 13 Speed Extensification Pt 1 5:30 14 Speed Extensification Video 2:44 15 Bias Towards Early Stages of the Race 6:08 16 Stiffness and Reactivity Pt 1 8:25 17 Stiffness and Reactivity Exercises 6:25 18 Stiffness and Reactivity Pt 2 Free 3:16 19 Force Production, Force Closure, Force Transmission 3:49 20 Force Closure and Examples 7:07 21 Recovery and Restoration 5:25 22 Final Thoughts 0:24 23 Issues In Contemporary 400M Training PPT 24 Issues in Contemporary 400M Training Notes 25 Men's Long Sprint (Meso 3 - Week 1) 26 Men's Long Sprint (Meso 3 - Week 2) 27 Men's Long Sprint (Meso 3 - Week 3)Bob Thurnhoffer finished his first season at the University of New Mexico in historic fashion being crowned the 2022 Mountain Region Men's Outdoor Assistant Coach of the Year.
