He earned a baseball scholarship from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, where he set many of Union's batting average and home-run records, and established the NAIA career record for slugging percentage. In 1991, Luis was drafted in the eighth round by the Boston Red Sox. Subsequently, he played 14 years of professional baseball, part of which he spent in the majors with the Red Sox and the Texas Rangers. For most of his minor-league career, he consistently hit over .300. Upon retiring from professional baseball, Luis went back to college and earned a bachelor�s degree in physical education. Currently, Luis is working on developing a state-of-the-art baseball school in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Those 182 wins are tied for 13th most in the nation during that time period. Monte has led the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament each of his first 4 seasons. The Tigers have gone 80-54 against ACC teams.
Monte has coached 8 All-Americans at Clemson. 26 different players have also gone on to be drafted during his tenure at Clemson University.
Before Clemson, Monte was the head coach for seven years at College of Charleston (2009-15). Lee has a 458-231 record (.665), including 12 winning seasons and eight NCAA Tournament appearances.
