Fran Fraschilla
(Rental)-International Continuity Pick & Roll Offense
$15.99
The International Continuity Pick and Roll Offense
International basketball is catching up to the NBA. The international style of continuity offense continues to make the game competitive, even with the NBA. The leading expert on international basketball is Fran Fraschilla, the former head coach at Manhattan, St. John’s, and New Mexico who now serves as an international basketball analyst for ESPN.
In this video, Fraschilla compares the American style of pick and roll offense with that of international teams. Around the globe, more and more teams are playing the game with four perimeter plays which has led to greater skill development throughout the world. It is evident with the number of foreign players that are now on NBA rosters. Coach Fraschilla examines both the side pick and roll and the spread pick and roll offenses in this video.
Using on-court demonstrations, Coach Fraschilla offers insight into proper spacing in the pick and roll offense. He will show you three different side pick and roll plays detailing the actions of each player. Players can score off of dribble penetration or a kick-out option to the perimeter. The three sets include:
Butler Pick and Roll action that has made the Bulldogs offense so good.
Lithuanian Continuity Offense which uses side pick and rolls and dribble hand-offs
Spread Pick and Roll Offense that has been a large part of the success of many international teams at the World Championships. Coach Fraschilla shows you several looks that will get you into the spread pick and roll.
Each of these sets is beneficial in that either can create confusion in your opponents. They also provide a number of different scoring opportunities as Coach Fraschilla puts on display for you. This 79-minute DVD is a must-have for a college or high school coach looking for something more in the pick and roll offense. It is one of basketball’s most deadly attacks and Coach Fraschilla shows you why.
Marcelo Signorelli
(Rental)-International Man To Man Defense
$15.99
Marcelo Signorelli: International Style Man-to-Man Defense
Defense played in international basketball differs from that played in the U.S. Marcelo Signorelli, head coach of Club Hebracia in Uruguay, teaches the subtle differences between FIBA and American styles of man-to-man defense in this video. Using on-court demonstrations, Signorelli shows you how his teams put tremendous pressure on the ball in the half-court.
Coach Signorelli, a three-time Uruguayan Coach of the Year and two-time national champion, begins with 1-on-1 defense and builds progressively until concepts are mastered at the 5-on-5 level. He teaches denial and help positioning based on the number of passes away a defender from the ball. In each session, Signorelli explains how defensive spacing determines how players help and recover when penetration occurs.
Using 3-on-3 situations, Coach Signorelli walks through 10 drills that focus on stopping penetration with proper on-ball defense and help. He also shares how FIBA teaches concepts like defending the dribble, off-ball defense, low post defense, and weak side defense. Players learn to take action on defense instead of always reacting to what your opponent is doing.
After the 3-on-3 segment, players are put through similar actions in 4-on-4 and 5-on-5 situations. Here, Signorelli addresses post play as well as some of the more challenging offensive sets. In each situation, the basics taught in the 3-on-3 segment apply.
Signorelli shows you his man-to-man defense against different offensive actions like the Flex Cut and Diamond Set. He also reviews three different ways to defend the ball screen. This video is an excellent and detailed look at how international man-to-man defense is taught and executed in the half-court.
Ryan Looney
(Rental)-Introduction To Swing Offense
$17.99
Basketball Swing Offense: The Introduction
One of the more successful offenses at the high school and college levels is the Swing. Idaho State University head coach Ryan Looney has used the offense with great success everywhere he has been. In this instructional video, Coach Looney uses diagrams, on-court demonstrations, and game film to teach the basics and advanced skills of the Swing Offense.
Transition into Basketball Swing Offense
It all starts with transition. Coach Looney shows you how to transition from defense to offense and flow right into the basketball Swing offense. Each player’s role is broken down in transition. Coach Looney shows you where the best opportunities for early 3-point shots and post ups will occur. He also shows you the various entries used to start the offense and then shows game film to help you see it all in action.
Screening in the Swing Offense
Coach Looney then begins teaching the half-court offense which revolves around two types of screens:
Up Screen: This action is set up by a simple pass to the wing. The cutter then uses the screen to get to the rim. The screener steps out to the perimeter and replaces the cutter. This action allows for a quick scoring opportunity and also keeps the offense properly spaced.
Flex Screen: When the ball skips from one side of the court to the other, a flex screen is set for the weak side wing. This action is another way to get a player a great scoring opportunity.
The screens are the foundation of the basketball Swing Offense. Coach Looney shows you where and when to set each screen as well as all the options the offense can exploit off of each screen. He also reviews other options as well. When defenders try to fight through screens or anticipate cuts, baseline drives open up. Pick and pop options, wing ball screens, and multiple post up opportunities are also reviewed.
Proper execution of the Swing Offense makes it very difficult to defend. It is a great team offense as all the pieces work together toward a common goal. With proper spacing and constant movement, defenses are forced to fight through screens, adjust to off-ball movement, and defend the weak side.
Whether you are looking for an update of the Swing Offense or just want to improve your understanding of half-court offense, this is an outstanding presentation to add to your coaching library. Rent this basketball swing offense DVD today.

John Beilein
(Rental)-John Beilein's Basketball Culture & Drills
$18.99
John Beilein Culture and Drills
Learn how to run a successful basketball program from one of the best in the business. John Beilein has coached at every level from high school to junior college to four-year colleges and now the NBA. The underlying factors of his success are simple – culture and drill work. This John Beilein Culture video provide you with an inside look at how Coach Beilein has built winners everywhere he has been.
Change as a Constant
Throughout a career that has seen Beilein win three different conference Coach of the Year awards (MAAC, CAA, and Big Ten), Coach Beilein has had to adapt and change as the game has changed. One of those changes is the emphasis of the pick and roll in today’s game. More of the practice focus must be centered on the pick and roll offense as well as how to defend it.
Another change is in the area of strength training. Twenty years ago, players were not involved in the type of offseason training they are now. With the right strength program, players improve their strength, agility, and athleticism.
One of the big changes Coach Beilein made in his defensive philosophy was the use of the zone defense. When he moved from one conference to another, it forced him to take a look at how he was defending opponents and what defenses would give his teams the ability to be competitive. Learn John Beilein Culture.
Things That Don’t Change
In building a championship program, some things never change. One is skill development. Players must be able to handle the basketball and shoot it. Those things will never change and Beilein emphasizes drills that improve both skills. You’ll see a two-player drill designed to improve ball handling and one-handed passing.
The Double Mikan Drill is also demonstrated. Players do the traditional Mikan Drill but with two basketballs and shoot for making 20 layups in 20 seconds or less. Another drill is the 3 Taps and In where post players tap the ball off the backboard three times before tapping it in the basket.
The final drill you will see is 60 in 5, a shooting drill where players attempt to shoot 85 shots in five minutes with a goal of making 60. Shooters move around the perimeter and never shoot from the same spot twice in a row.
This is an excellent video that shows you how building a culture and focusing on the things that never change can help transform your program. Rent the John Beilen Culture DVD today.
John Beilein
(Rental)-John Beilein's Shooting Drills & Player Development
$19.99
John Beilein’s Basketball Shooting Drills & Player Development
Five years ago while coaching at Michigan, John Beilein allowed several of his practices to be filmed with just one promise. None of the footage would be released until he retired from coaching. With Beilein’s jump to the NBA, he has agreed to allow this footage to be released.
Coach Beilein has developed some of the best shooters in the game. In this video, he shows you his shooting secrets and the system he used to take good shooters and make them great ones.
Perfecting Shooting Form
Coach Beilein teaches the shooting technique he has taught countless players through the years. He demonstrates two different shooting steps – Pogo Stick and Split Step – which help players develop balance within their footwork. Coach Beilein then shows players how to “Read the Map” with their hands. They catch the basketball, square up to the rim, and work the hand, wrist, and follow through for a perfect upper body shooting motion.
Basketball Shooting Drills & Skill Work
For Coach Beilein, understanding footwork and the upper body is crucial in going through shooting drills. Players are challenged in each drill to meet a certain number of shots to develop consistency. Players work on simple form shooting as well as shooting on the move from different spots on the floor. Defenders are added to run at and pressure shots.
Coach Beilein doesn’t just develop good shooters. He molds his athletes into complete basketball players and does so with additional skill-oriented drills. Coach Beilein has developed a numbering system that determines if a player is a master at their position. Players strive to reach those numbers and play at a high level.
Coach Beilein is one of the best teachers and tacticians in the game today. He has developed some of college basketball’s best shooters and using his shooting and skill development series, you can do the same with your players. Rent this basketball shooting drills DVD today.
