Ben Jacobson
(Rental)-Fundamental Drills For Basketball Practice
$15.99
Your offensive actions can improve your team's shooting.
This season, guard the ball better
The numbers rebounding drill will help you improve your team's rebounding.
Use 14 of Ben JacobsonÕs most effective offensive and defensive drills to improve your basketball skills.
SHOOTING AND SCREENING:
He shares some of the team's most effective shooting drills. He incorporates his motion offense screening actions to get his teammates to communicate, read screens, and work on screening while taking shots. The 3-man drills allow the players to get two shots from each screening action, including the elbow screen and diagonal down screen. Coach Jacobson shows his screening philosophy and the options available to his players after reading the defense.
The layup drill is a 2-minute drill that focuses on conditioning and passing.
DEFENSE:
Jacobson discusses his defensive philosophy in the defensive drills segment. It is 80 percent Pack Line defense and 20 percent ball-denial-push baseline.
He walks you through the alley drill. This is where you can practice defending the ball and controlling the dribble.
He then moves into the 3-on-3 defensive drill that his teams practice every day. He focuses on the help position early and protecting the gap from dribble penetration. This drill helps him to develop his defensive fundamentals such as angle of approach, closeouts and guarding the dribble. Your players should be able to defend in any situation and the offense must play to a set defense whenever possible.
REBOUNDING:
Jacobson demonstrates how to ride with your opponent away from the basket in Jacobson's numbers rebounding drill. This will allow you to make space for a "clean" rebound.
His defensive disadvantage drill, which combines all the basics learned earlier in a scramble situation, concludes the session.
This collection of drills and ideas will help you improve your practice this season.

Keith Dambrot: Fundamental Drills that Build Champions
Don’t waste valuable practice time! Pick up the pace!
Current Duquesne University head coach Keith Dambrot shares the same practice drills he used when he coached LeBron James at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School in Akron, Ohio. These same drills produced back-to-back state champions and seven straight 20-win seasons at while Dambrot coached at the University of Akron.
Coach Dambrot begins his presentation with the defensive drills he used to warm up his team. These drills teach some of the basics of Dambrot’s defense. Basic defensive skills like closing out, denying the wing, fronting the post, help-and-recover, and digging the post are worked on first. Then, it’s on to defending the down screen, flare screen, back screen, and how to defend the screener.
You’ll see Dambrot go through the very intriguing Circle Trap Drill. The drill teaches both how to trap and how to manage the trap all in one, a valuable time saver.
If you have ever been frustrated with your players for traveling or for missing a pullup jumper, Dambrot has a series of finishing moves for you. Watch as Coach Dambrot stresses proper footwork and finishing at the rim. You’ll see footwork for one-dribble layups, pullup jumpers, floaters, lunges, and step-throughs. Players that practice these skills are more likely to make them in game situations.
You will see that Coach Dambrot presents an exciting way to teach the game of basketball while focusing on fundamentals and details that help both players and teams improve. Coaches at any level can benefit from Coach Dambrot’s presentation as could players who might better understand what a coach is looking for in offensive and defensive fundamentals.

Tom Crean
(Rental)-Game Action Drills
$15.99
Coach Crean says that coaching is all about creating game-like action in practice. Players will see improvements in their game which will increase confidence and prepare them for action. Crean starts by dissecting the Chicago set play and the various schemes that it contains. To review each player's role in the play, Crean spends time with them. Clear 40 is another play that focuses on improving timing and player execution. Marquette's offense is based on hand-offs. The handoff drill focuses on timing, passing, and explosion at exchange point. The 4-Cone Drill focuses on game moves and shots. Each player performs a crossover, inside out dribble move, and slides shot or scoop shot. Reversing the ball to open-shooters is another part of the offense. Crean's ball reversal drill teaches key points about good reversal. Crean practices the art of making a lay-up game. Every layup in a game could make the difference between winning or losing. The fast break is another aspect of practice. Specific player responsibilities are required for the 2-on-1 advantage break. The 5-on-5 break can then be put together and executed. To save practice time, set plays can be added to the fast-break.

Tubby Smith
(Rental)-Game Winning Rebounding Techniques & Unstoppable Press Break Offense
$18.99
Tubby Smith: Game-Winning Rebounding Techniques & Unstoppable Press Break Offense
Two facets of today’s game – rebounding and press break offense – are critical in determining a team’s success. High Point University head coach Tubby Smith offers up drills for both in this video. Smith, one of just two NCAA head coaches to ever lead five different teams to the NCAA tournament, shares a wealth of information that can help your program develop an identity as a strong rebounding team. Smith also shares his press break principles versus both man and zone defenses.
Rebounding Drills
Coach Smith does an outstanding job of showing you how you can win the possession battle on both ends of the floor. You will see breakdowns of both offensive and defensive rebounding techniques. Coach Smith shows you how to use the hip to gain an advantage over an opponent, especially when you’ve been boxed out in the key. Rebounding in a free throw situation is also discussed and Smith provides three different techniques for success.
You will see how players can use both feet as pivots when they box out. This allows players to focus on their man and puts them in a position where they can see the ball and get it. After the rebound, players are also taught how to outlet the ball to get their team in transition.
Coach Smith also can help you turn up the competition in practice. He will show you how to make players compete. A number of drills are taught where players must keep score to determine clear winners and losers. This amps up the practice speed.
Press Break Offense
Breaking the press can be done from the same initial press break set. Coach Smith shows you how and includes multiple options out of that same set. He reviews proper spacing and positioning for all players. This will help your team easily beat any type of press.
Emphasizing rebounding and the press break have helped Smith’s teams through the years maximize the number of possessions in a game. The better you are at these two skills, the more scoring opportunities your team will have and, ultimately, more success.
JoAnne Boyle
(Rental)-Game-like Defensive Basketball Practice Drills
$17.99
Tad Boyle: Game-Like Defensive Practice Drills
Looking to slow down your opponent’s best player? Colorado head basketball coach Tad Boyle gives an on-court presentation detailing the use of traps to do so. You will also learn a number of methods for defending ball screens from different locations on the floor. Coach Boyle takes you through the drills that helped him become the first coach in Colorado history to lead the program to four straight 20-plus win seasons and four straight postseason tournament berths.
Defensive Basics
One of the cores of Coach Boyle’s philosophy is the scoring of drills. The Bubble Drill is one of the greatest in Boyles’ repertoire. A team begins the drill with a lead in a late-game situation. The winning team must remain patient on offense and produce stops on the defensive end. The keys to stopping an opponent at any time include communication, relentless effort, and a true belief in a defense’s ability to get it done. Coach awards points for defensive stops in an effort to get players to buy in to the value of a defensive stop, especially those in crucial game situations.
Transition Defense
One area of emphasis for Coach Boyle is transition defense. His teams are taught not to give up easy baskets as a result of a fast break. Coach Boyle takes you through a drill that starts as a 2-on-1 and culminates as a full 5-on-5. The drill allows for you to defend against every possible fast-break scenario in preparation for your next opponent. Players are taught to get back on defense and learn to buy in to Coach Boyle’s philosophy of full-court defense.
The Art of Rebounding
Coach Boyle realizes that rebounding effectively leads to success in basketball. In this 81-minute video, Boyle spends time going through his Circle Drill, one that is used to teach boxing-out and rebounding skills. The entire video is well done and provides coaches with Coach Boyle’s beliefs about defense and rebounding as well as the drills he has used to build a Pac-12 contender at Colorado.
Shaka Smart
(Rental)-Game-Like Skill Development & Individual Improvement
$18.99
High Energy Skill Development Drills for Basketball Practice Drills to Improve Individual Play
University of Texas head coach Shaka Smart brings tremendous energy to the Longhorns program just as he did at Virginia Commonwealth. He took VCU to the 2011 Final Four and had six straight seasons of 25-plus wins. In this video, Smart shares how you can build players’ individual skills in a team setting. You will see a number of drills for both guards and post players. With an emphasis on energy and enthusiasm, Coach Smart will teach you drills that can improve long-range shooting as well as the ability to finish around the basket.
Skill Development Drills for Bigs
Coach Smart begins with skill development drills for basketball with the post players. There are certain fundamental skills that a post player must have to be successful. Smart addresses those here while also emphasizing energy. Coach Smart also emphasizes post players having fewer moves as opposed to several. He would rather they learn to get really good at just a few moves as compared to mediocre at many.
Some of the skill development drills for basketball you will see in this segment include:
Rodman Taps: A great drill for getting back up quickly, it works the weak hand around the rim
Form Hooks: A simple skill drill with great instruction on footwork
Shaq Series: A number of post moves are presented as well as the mentality of Shaq working the post. Players learn to play with strength and aggression
Multiple Effort Drill: This is the quintessential post drill and gets your players to play at full effort
Skill Development Drills for Guards
In the next segment, Smart addresses the guards. These are some of the drills you will see:
Pinball Screening: A high-energy drill for both offense and defense. Players learn to use screens to get open and defenders learn to fight through and defend screens
LeBron Combos: Used by LeBron James early in his career, this drill features a series of moves and shots. Smart creates the moves and players must execute them.
3-Minute Shooting: Works on shooting when fatigued, players have three minutes to complete
2-on-1 Drill: Players battle the difficult situation, which requires total effort
Another awesome drill that shows the philosophy of Smart if the Ironman Drill. In it, a defender must take a charge, hustle to get a loose ball, and then scramble to save a ball from going out of bounds. It’s just another of many great drills you see in this 74-minute video. Learn how to get your players to challenge and push themselves to up their game! Rent this skill development drills for basketball DVD today.
