(Rental)-'in Your Face' Pressure Defense
Gillispie's philosophy focuses on toughness, defensive transformation and "in-your-face" man defense. Gillispie uses half-court shell drills to establish his defensive mentality. This drill has 12 points. They focus on man pressure, help-side defense, passing denial position talking, jumping to the ball vision of the ball and rotation. This drill teaches you how to handle back, fade and up screens. Gillispie uses the entire court shell drill for his transition defense. This drill starts at one end and has a 4-on-4 alignment at the other end. The half court shell drill begins once you are in the half-court. The diamond drill is used to protect baseline penetration and allow for proper rotation as a team. The 5-on-4 defensive drill stresses defense. Communication, help, rotation, and close outs are the key points. Next is the 3-on-3 transition drill. This drill starts at 3-on-3 and ends at 5-on-4. In addition, Gillispie shares two favorite special plays for winning close games.
